Moderator's Report

After early troubles, Robert Burton comes through to win his first ever Ukgpl race. Burton and Summers had a good fight through the middle part of the race, but unfortunately warp contact ended Summers race too early. At the end Clive Gardner was close, in ontrack position if not in the final race standings (due to a penalty).

I'd like to remind everyone to not chat in practice, until at least everyone completed their laps at the end, after time expires. Someone might stil be on a hot lap.

Also you should always fight for positions, not move out of the way like your being lapped. It's also more satisfying when you earn a position, rather then if someone lets you have it.

I would urge more caution when entering pits. A couple of drivers spun on entering pits in this race. It was just luck that nobody was already in the pits, or there could have been more crashes/taking out other inocent cars pitting for their stops.

At the end, I noticed many pitstops were too long. This is a very good way to lose a position/race. I would recommend using GPL wait utility, if you're not already doing so.

Start
Clive Gardner applies too much throttle at the start, starts to pull to his left, and collects Robert Burton. Burton performs a S+R.

  • EvilClivepenalty — side-by-side contact, 1 place+1 more place because it's L1 — 2 places lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

L1 T1
Arthur Le Marquand brakes too late and rear ends Clive Gardner who is entitled a no fault S+R.

  • Artpenalty — rear end shunt, Le Marquand was in control. 2 places+1 more for L1 — 3 places lost

L1 T3-4
Mike Ratters gets out of shape under braking, goes wide into t4, tries to comeback, but Phil Thornton is there, who clips Mike's rear end which sends him into a spin.
Caution: Ratters wasn't in full control, but Thornton should have been more careful - Phil Thornton.

L1 Hairpin
Bernie Darwin goes into turn completely behind Phil Thornton but takes too tight line and rear ends Thornton.

  • berniepenalty — Darwin was in control, it's L1, he didn't make allowance. 1 place+1 more fo — 2 places lost (plus 6 for penalty points)

L2 after hairpin
Mike Ratters goes wide and Burton gets along side at the exit out of hairpin. Mike doesn't have the racing line, goes too much to the right going into t6 and bangs wheels with Burton, who loses some time.
Caution:There were multiple incidents like this. I just picked this one to urge more caution when side by side.

L10 pitstop
Clive Gardner goes too fast into the pits, clips the barriers on the left side of the pit entrance, which sends him into a spin, and he stops in the pit position, but facing the wrong direction. After a few moments he does a 180 and leaves the pits without ever performing a proper SnG.
Caution: It was just sheer luck noone else was parked in the pits when this happend. No penalty this time, but there will be in the future - Clive Gardner

L16 T1
Ben Summers and Robert Burton go side by side into T1. Right in the middle they get real close, there is some warp and Summers starts to go into a spin. Burton can't avoid him and send him into the wall. Burton should have been more careful, as Summers was completely ahead at the start of the braking. But also Summers took too wide a line into turn considering he was ahead.
Racing incident started by warp. Client replay shows no contact when Summers car is bumped into a spin.

L17 T1
Chris Bull loses control under braking, spins and collects Bernie Darwin.
Caution: Bull was already in a spin, didn't have control when he collected Darwin - Chris Bull.

Moderator's Report

Another week, and another first time winner. Congratulations to Derek Howe on a steady drive

to his first win. Lots of battles in the midfield and for the last podium place in a mostly

incident free race.

L11 After the esses
Stu Mayes blows the engine, performs a S+R, but no SnG, 30 second penalty

  • Stu Mayes — Shift+R, but no Stop and Go — 30.000 seconds added

L13 T1
Stu Mayes gets stuck against the fence and performs a S+R, no SnG, 30 second penalty

  • Stu Mayes — Shift+R, but no Stop and Go — 30.000 seconds added

L22 going into sunset
Chris Bull gets close to Phil Thornton under braking into sunset. There is some warp (no

contact between cars on server replay), and Phil is sent into a spin.
Racing incident exacerbated by warp.

Moderator's Report

Third race of the season, and we have a third different winner. A dominating, flag to pole, victory goes to Clive Gardner. There was also a podium finish for Amir Kamal in his debut race. Well done chaps (Ben Summers too for his first podium of the season). Pitstop times and window were unfortunately wrong in the race announcement stating it was a 24 lap race when in fact it was a 30 lap race. The finishing times were such that it didn't effect the results. Also on tight, closed in tracks like this, backmarkers need to pay special attention when the leaders come by.

Incidents

L2 final hairpin
Robert Burton comes too close to Derek Howe under braking, and rear ends him. This causes a whole train of cars to nudge each other and Bernie Darwin is spun out and loses two places as a result.

  • Burtonerpenalty — Rear end shunt — 2 places lost (plus 4 for penalty points)

L4 final hairpin
Robert Burton loses control under braking and spins collecting Derek Howe in the process. William Tway is trying to get through the mayhem, but Burton trying to recover nudges him from behind and into the barriers, and takes a position. Derek Howe had to take a no fault s+r. First part, is a racing incident The second part is a rear end shunt from R. Burton.

  • Burtonerpenalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost (plus 4 for penalty points)

L12
Bernie Darwin stops for 3 seconds, but he never actually stops the car. The cooper is slowly moving through the entire stop.

  • berniecaution — Incorrect pitstop — 5.000 seconds added

L14 going uphill
Karl Doyle puts a wheel on the kerb which spins him out of control and he ends up positioned across the track. William Tway comes through and collects him. Racing incident.

L14 chicane
Robert Burton crashes at the chicane and loses a wheel. Resets but no SnG afterwards so 30 seconds penalty.

  • Burtonercaution — Resets but no SnG — 30.000 seconds added

L14 Tabac
As Burton is going through the tabac Karl Doyle, recovering from bad passing through the chicane himself comes in too fast and rear ends Burton.

  • Karl Doylepenalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

L17
Robert Burton does a SnG, but a Cooper pitstop is 3 seconds.

  • Burtonercaution — Incorrect pitstop — 9.000 seconds added

L20 station hairpin
Chris Bull goes wide into the hairpin, then touches the kerb on the left side while returning. As he is trying to recover, Robert Burton is right there on his right. C. Bull squeezes him too much to the right. Burton touches the kerb and is then rear ended by Bull. Burton is left facing the other way, and performs s+r.

  • Bullypenalty — Side-by-side contact — 1 place lost (plus 5 for penalty points)
  • Burtonercaution — Reset for a contested pass, but no SnG — 15.000 seconds added

L28
Bernie Darwin goes a bit too fast into tabac, goes wide and hits the barriers. Ian Bassi is right behind him, and gets along side him on the exit. But B, Darwin moves back onto the racing line like Bassi isn't there.

  • berniepenalty — Side by side contact — 1 place lost (plus 6 for penalty points)

Moderator's Report

Dominating pole to flag victory for Clive Gardner who now takes the lead in the championship.
I'd like to make a one note here. If you think you may have caused an incident, don't perform a SnG afterward, leave the moderation to the moderators.

L2 T1
Phil Thornton gets a good run on Mike Ratters and gets along side of him. There is partial overlap throughout the braking for t1. Mike doesn't leave much room on the inside of t1, but Phil is going to fast to stay on his side anyway. Contact is made. Mike Ratters has to take a Shift+R.

  • Phil Thorntonpenalty — Side by Side contact — 1 place lost
  • Ratterscaution — No SnG for a contested pass — 15.000 seconds added

L2 T1
There are yellow flags being shown at t1 for the previous incident. Amir Kamal brakes earlier and takes the turn a little slower. Ben Summers takes the turn at racing speed and rear ends Kamal.

L6
Karl Doyle performs an incorrect SnG for a blown engine. Karl stops in the middle of the pitroad.

  • Karl Doylecaution — incorrect SnG — 5.000 seconds added

L14
Andy Nevill performing a regular stop but too far from the pitwall.

  • Andy Nevillcaution — Incorrect pitstop — 5.000 seconds added

L18 after the bridge
Burton is on cold tires and heavy fuel load after taking a s+r for a blown engine earlier in the lap. He gets a slow exit out of the bridge, and Andy Nevill goes for the pass. There is partial overlap before the braking, but Burton closes the door and Nevill has nowhere to go but on the grass, loses control and side swipes Burtons car. Burton loses a wheel and has to take a s+r. Nevill had the right to inside line as he had overlap, but Burton moved over.

  • Burtonerpenalty — Simple side-by-side contact — 1 place lost (plus 6 for penalty points)

Burton fails to take a SnG for the reset caused by a contested pass.

  • Burtonercaution — No SnG for a contested pass — 15.000 seconds added

Moderator's Report

A race with almost no incidents, bar the l1 t1, was always going to be won by the driver with fewest (or in this case no) mistakes. A very consistent drive to victory for Karl Doyle.

Incidents

L1 T1
A. Le Marquand gets a better start then R. Burton and is completely by his side as they prepare to go into Eau Rouge. Le Marquand is all the way to the left, but Burton is going through the middle of the track, and then takes the racing line into Rouge. This results in a side by side contact with Le Marquand and most of the field is caught up in it.There was no actual contact between cars on the server replay, and no client replay was submitted to me. Although a serious contact was probable at some point in Rouge, it did start with what appears to be warp. Racing incident exaberated by warp.

L5
Arthur Le Marquand stops for his regular pitstop, but stay for only 25 seconds. Eagle pitstop is 35 seconds.

  • Artcaution — Short pitstop, 10x3=30 seconds penalty. — 30.000 seconds added

L6
Robert Burton stops for only 29 seconds for his Eagle pitstop.

  • Burtonercaution — Short pitstop 6x3=18 seconds penalty. — 18.000 seconds added

L9 Blanchimont
Arthur Le Marquand's engine lets go. He resets, and it's a last lap, so it's a 15 second time penalty.

  • Artcaution — No SnG after engine blow up. — 15.000 seconds added
