Ade runs wide onto the grass, but keeps his car under control. He has little option but to rejoin, as he is running out of run off space. Psuedo spots him a bit late, and takes evasve action. He then spots Truetom on the other side of him, tries to move back to the right, loses control and hits Ade, spinning out. No driver was at fault for the contact.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 655s

JPV brakes too late and bumps Prof, spinning him around. JPV admitted responsibility for the incident and took a drive through, so I'm redusing this to a zero place penalty.

Hi,

just joined the forums and I would like to participate in your races. Do I need to register somewhere specifically for this race or just show up at the right time?

Most series you can just show up. GTC Sprint needs registration as it's the most popular championship.

The weather was very changeable and odd during the practice race here.

I ended up on the completely wrong tyres, inter rears, and ended up crashing at very high speed into pit wall.

Hopefully that will not happen tonight!

Practice and a setup - what a difference eh!

With the rain in praccy I was a bit worried, but still doing okay.  As it dried my dry setup came into play and I got it at the right time - just before the rain came back.  Started 3rd in the GTC - and well happy I was given the shocker I had in the sprint.

I was looking at the weather, looking at the rain that was forecast ... and quietly cursing.  But then with about 30 seconds left it changed to brilliant sunshine for the forecast ... so on with the slicks.

Had some massive fights with Andy Eves and Reign Man - wicked stuff.  Am absolutely shattered now.

Had a few scarey moments - a dodgy button was causing problems for me looking right (and consequently behind) and I was losing sight of lapping GT1's.  Also after the pit I just had a mental lapse and slid accross the track - thankfully nothign came of that.

Having reinstalled GTR2 I need to edit the PLR file again.  I lost time in the pits as I couldn't request the stop, and then the AI tried to turn me into my slot ... and then I was lookign at the outside of the car getting its tyres changed.

Thankfully I made it out in one piece, and had a pretty decent run all things considered.  I had one half spin and a couple of on-the-grass moments, but really solid on the whole - well happy.

Grats Legends one and all - top results.

That was very hard work. Ran hard rears for the first time and it was a good job as they lasted well and never overheated, but the car was set up for rain and was a bit wishy washy in places.

Ran long on the first stint to see how the tyres held up; they did well but with the temperatures rising towards the end I left my stop as late as I dared hoping to double stint them, but it looked less and less like a good plan and in the end I'm glad I changed them as I couldn't have saved the time to the car in front and still have had the rubber to stay ahead.

Big sorry to both Pops who I ran into when I thought he was letting me lap him in Mergulho with Stewprovo breathing down my neck, and later Backo who I was battling with when I came out from my stop and ran into the back of him when I misjudged the combination of our braking points. Embarrassed

I got past Backo properly at a second attempt, then later in the race as my rears passed 10 wear he pressed me very hard over the last few laps. Good stuff. Grin

Dubai next and I've never quite got with the track. Hmm.

That was mostly hard with a little bit of fun.

I had real difficulties lapping some of the GTC drivers. One particular beauty where TT pulled to one side to let me pass and Bob decided to slow right were TT had left a gap and right where I was heading  Shocked. Slid in front of, and clipped, TT but hope i didn't cost you anything. Also totally misread Adam whilst he was trying to help me, real glad its didn't cost you anything. Felt so bad at touching you that I left Zacari through if thats any consolation.

Edging my bets, went with wet setup with slicks for race and whilst its was steady, the extra downforce etc left me slightly underpowered for race. Also left me with horrific oversteer when tyres got worn which was mildly exciting. Still had good fun with Backo, Gazza and Brian throughout first stint. Good stuff from you all Smiley Incidents with backmarkers, and ruddy controller deciding to double up-shift all second stint, meant I was quite relieved to finish.

Congrats to Freq, Adam and podium guys. Great to see five different cars in GT1 top 6 thumbup1

LOL - yeah, total misunderstanding I think.  I was just taking my normal line there, rather than trying to let you through.  Because of the problems I was having with my DFP (dodgy button) viewing right and behind was a problem .... which was just where you were!

It did make me laugh when you slowed up though ... "you're in a GT1 you daft b**ger, what are you waiting for!?!?!" was I think what I may have been heard to utter Cheesy

I did only about 20mins practice before this race and it was right before race. It was 37 degree of somewhere around that.

Came to real practice session and it was wet. I did not have a hint of a set up.

Qualifying was hard. There seemed to be the odd damp patch somewhere that caught me out every lap. Got a better one in at the end to climb to 2nd.

I did not know what to do with the set up for the race. I ended up with tyre pressures too high, downforce too high and car set too soft.

Made a mistake right away. I started in first gear and wheelspinned as soon as I removed limiter. I changed gear but double snatched and bogged down. Luckily Paul did not make a good start either but Freq was gone.

I then made a mistake first lap and it let both Paul and SBG through.

Got past SBG after laps of chasing. You've got that MC12 going well.

I was catching Paul but decided I would pit earlier then usual. Paul stopped the lap after and came out of the pits just ahead.

Managed to get past Paul and made an effort to put the foot down.

Watching Freq, I thought he is not out of sight yet. Right enough when Freq called his pit stop I knew it was going to be close, but not as close as it was!

He normally stuffs me in the pits but this time I gained on him. It was side by side as he left the pits.

I had been out for a few laps and had warm tyres and brakes. I was very late on them and managed to get first.

Then for the next 30mins the pressure was relentless. I had to watch my lines carefully and had to be defensive.

Freq managed to pull of a maneuver round first chicane and this caught me by surprise. It ruined his line for the next bend and I got the power down early enough to get my nose alongside. I put it there to see if I could squeeze in and Freq went a little late on the brakes and I was back through.

My engine health was dropping all the time. It was clear I was underpowered as Freq was pulling back more time on the straights. I had thrashed my car too much.

Once Freq got past I knew I did not have any hope to get back in front and gave up and short shifted for the last 5 mins.

One thing about this race again that caught me out was the speed difference between the cars. It's frightening the speed difference between the cars.

Too often I was arriving into braking zones with either Freq, SBG or Paul right on my tail and we were travelling 30+MPH quicker than the GTC cars. It was frightening.

I made one of two passes I'm not happy about but the pressure from behind forced the issue. Sorry Psuedo. No contact but I was a little rash to say the least.

Not sure what happened with you Dave in the first corner. Freq and myself were catching quick and I got caught out as you seemed very early on the brakes. Again no contact, but I s**** myself.

I can't remember the last race I've been under so much pressure or had so much incident.

It was both great fun but downright scary at bits.

Well done to Freq, again!

Totally enjoyable race.....hard work though.

Had some great battles with a whole bunch of people....Pops, Gomes, Pete to name but some....great stuff and great driving (most of the time  Wink)......glad of the bit of rain/dampness...it evened the performance of the gtc class quite a bit and it was great to enter battles with porka's and TVR's.

A little disapointed at some of the passing on the odd occasion.....us slower cars are in a race too and lose loads of time being bullied out of the way. people seem to think its their right to pass on apexes instead of waiting for a proper passing place  Smiley Kiss

I've apologised for mine Psuedo.

It's just with the next car breathing down your neck and with the speed difference you always think you can probably make it.

I just don't think these cars go together too well.

The massive speed difference makes it easy to pass under acceleration or on the straights, but towards the end of the straight it's always a situation

Really really miffed!!  Practice and qualy was just a nightmare with the conditions as im awful in the wet but thankfully it dried out towards the end of qualy and i got up to 6th.

Didnt know what setup to use for race but the weather suddenly forcast sunny so just went for my dry setup and it would of payed off as i think alot went with a slightly causious setup incase of rain, but faffing around and getting on the grid with a few seconds left i didnt notice that my engine health started in the low 80's and it started dropping everylap for some reason so i could never in the whole race actually go at my full pace which was really frustrating as i really think i could of had a 5th place as i was all over SBG even though i was having to lift off at the end of every straight. I even had a decent pitstop but i knew the engine was gunna go coz at half distance it was down to 65.

Grats to everyone.

P.s apolagies to a few GTC guys as i got confused when lapping (after you-no after you moments)

For the most part it was a great race. I went with the dry setup from the start looking at the weather just before the start of the race.

I had a dodgy first lap which put me about three seconds behind Andy and Adam. I managed to catch them up after 3 or 4 laps and was gonna settle in behind the two, but Andy had a moment at the first turn which put him about 2 second behind us.

I was slightly better than Adam under breaking at the first turn and after running behind him for around 4/5 laps I decided I would have a go.  We happend to be on the Start/finish straight when I decided this.... no where near Adam but I knew I could gain on him toward the end of the lap, but he seemed to brake a bit earlier than usual and before I knew it, I was up the inside of him and taking the spot. ......Thanks Grin

From then on, with the help of the Lapping GT1's I was able to pull out and maintain a few second lead until my pit stop which I took with around 33 mins to go. At this point I had Andy closing the gap to me. I had a good stop, tyres only.

After it all settled down I had increased my lead with the stop, but my car felt wrong. My rear was all over the place under breaking which resulted in me having a spin and a couple of slow laps.

This allowed Adam catch me up, he was pressuring me for a while and it was just a matter of time before he got past, but the car came back to me and I was able to keep a good pace up when, with around 7 mins to go,  I was forced off the road by a Lapping GT1.....which resulted in me hitting the inside wall of turn 1.  Angry .....Race over..front left puncture, I had to do a whole lap with a flat and pit .

Gutted. Was loving the race, it just a damn shame I wasn't able to fight it until the end.

I am glad I finished it at least  Cheesy

Roll on the next one

RM
