A bit sheepish about the win there whistling

First, felt bad not taking the TVR but, honestly, the Cobra was just as fun and on the pace of the hairdresser's so had to be that. As a penance I'll choose the Falcon next week.

Secondly, real bad luck to JR in quali. Chuffed with my pb and then watched his amazing sub 33 lap. Simply stunning and glad I pushed him hard enough to get that time. On pole you would have bee untouchable I guess.

Third, bit lucky with Syd's and Steves tangle left me clear. To be honest, I knew high gearing option would leave me vulnerable on grid and relaxed into catching you gents slowly. Shame that robbed me off a great fight I think. Virtual cruise to finish really.

That said. Woot Woot. I'll take a win anyway it comes and I'll prolly never be that lucky again Grin

Good turnout and look forward to some regulars returning next week to make a full grid. Also, must be said that standards were excellent from where I sat Smiley Also hope all enjoyed the track as much as I did, as we will have same car/track combo for the next 9 races Wink

Amazing scrapp with TinMan

I was coming up to that battle on the main straight, and you guys were side by side and there was no room to get by Grin. So I was coasting almost half the straight to prevent rearending Cheesy.

I remember that moment perfectly, i heard you lifting the throttle three or four times at the same
time trying to find a space to overtake and then, you followed us for a another lap  Cheesy

Mixed feelings for me,

I enjoyed the track/car combo....cobras vs elans turned out pretty much as expected.

Qually went not too well....over 1/2 a second off my pb and started 8th. Got a cracking start off the line though and managed to get between two cars round T1....but things got a bit too tight and a slight nudge (just a racing nudge...no wrongdoing by anyone Grin) put me into a bit of a spin when trying a little too hard to accelerate. So, back to dead last and started chasing. Got as far as the second last corner only to have someone rejoin, after an excursion into the hills, right into the side of me....spin 2 resulting and now some 20 secs behind the pack.

Chase was on again and I made some places back through folk going off but couldn't seem to get close enough to anyone to make any real racing passes.

Grats to sbg on a fine win, and unlucky break alla qually for Jeff, but great drive to get back in 2nd.

see ya all next week.

Grrr, that turned out a lot worse than i hoped. Sad

Qualified a good 4th place, Cool Ran really well for first half of race, always in top 5 or 6 and keeping steady for first 15 out of 25 laps.

Then literally just as i was thinking to myself 'keep going son, your doing really well in the dangerous Cobra" ...i span off at that last corner before the straight! and team-mate Steve H, who had been chasing me hard for a few laps, was able to gallop through along with a couple of others.
And then a lap later or so i got nerfed off at the same corner by an Elan and i lost a load of places and about 30 seconds of time , trying to spin my way out of the slippery sand.
That was it, my concentration went, got hot and bothered and then had about 3 more offs and finished a crappy undeserved 13th ?, even losing a place to Pseudo on last lap when the car went around on me in sector 1. Angry

The cobra was great around zaand but i found i really had to concentrate very hard and could never contemplate any kind of defensive or tactical driving, it was all about keeping it on the race line and getting your braking and accelerating spot on or you were off. Once that intense concentration went or i got buzzed by other cars, invariably it all went wrong. In clear track up front i was steaming along but later on it turned to craps-ville.

well done Steve, enjoyed our little mid race battle too and congrats to Ginsters and other pody guys  Cool

Good driving all round except for my stupid nudge on Syd, I am truly sorry for that   Embarrassed, it was a great battle for the lead, and we both lost out on certain podium places.  Dunno what happened, you lost a little momentum under acceleration, maybe wheelspin, maybe gearchange from 1st to 2nd and it caught me out, didn't expect to close up suddenly.  Punished myself by waiting until I saw you were back on the tarmac before I began to rejoin so ended up 7th or so.  At least I led a few laps, never done that before.   Smiley

But from there it was an absolute corker of a race, pressure all the way.  Elan was at such a tactical disadvantage (ignoring the difficulty of keeping the Cobra on track, of course), held up through the twisties - I was constantly having to lift behind Cobras, particularly entering the final bend - and then a sitting duck on the straight.  Can't remember how many times I had to lift or brake entering the straight behind MJs cobra, get swamped from behind then have to duck to the inside and brake as late as I possibly dared (and later!) to hold the place at the hairpin, real sweaty hand experience.  Great racing with Jeff (held you off for a lap or two!), PR and Tinman.   Grin

After MJ lost it (bad luck mate, after our white knuckle side by side moment I was wracking my brain how to get past you!) I was able to get on it and began closing rapidly on Geoffers, but laps were running out and I needed a mistake from him, which wasn't forthcoming.  It was great fun to push flat out and do qually lap after lap right at the end though.

Congratulations on SBGs win, Jeff's recovery and Geoffers podium in his first race, another 2-3 laps and I'd have had ya!   Wink

Sorry to Martin very close driving and i´d hit throttle earlier than you,
thats why i touch your rear, very sorry.

No worries buddy, bit frustrating but that's racing eh!!

Was loving driving the TVR so much that I ran it anyway, even though I was slow in it!
The unfortunate bump left me in 16th! Oh well!!
Had a storming start, went from 18th was it? to 7/8th in the first corner!!
that suprised a few!!  Grin

Great fun as usual guys!!

Results show you returned to your rightfull place now. Thanks Dave Smiley

I enjoy an end of race spank and stunts like the rest of you but, if this keeps happening we may have to knock it on the head. Its fiddly to manually alter results and one thing Dave could do without out. We'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks guys, I enjoyed my first race with you, so that means you will have to put up with me again next week  Wink

After a bit of paint swapping I emerged 5th from T1 with SteveH's Elan & 3 Cobras in front. Got past MarkJ's Cobra when he was a bit slow out of the first of the fast RHers & tried to hang on to the other 2 Cobras but they gradually started pulling away.

Syd & SteveH then had a coming together & I moved up to 2nd with SBG gradually pulling away in front. Syd quickly caught up & blasted past on the S/F straight & about half distance Jeff did the same. Briefly got 2nd back when Jeff & Syd went playing in the sand on successive laps before Jeff reclaimed the place.

Now comfortable in 3rd & taking it a bit easier, I nearly paid the price of not keeping an eye on my pitboard, as with 2 laps to go I suddenly noticed another Elan not too far behind. SteveH had quickly reeled me in when I wasn't looking. So I had to up the pace a bit the last couple of laps to hold onto my podium place.

Congrats to SBG & Jeff, great driving both.

I had a lonnng day at work so was rather tired by the time this event started – so for safety reasons i selected the 289 Corba (or perhaps TeamPOOdle run out of money for the 427?).  Quali went OK no big issues with the car but I was in 17th or so….near the back in a Cobra Sad
Anyway race started OK…I was 13/14th’ ish during the opening laps…. the car felt fine, probably handling better with the extra weight of the fuel. But the 289 - mann it just lacks in every department…I don’t even think I passed a Lotus on the long main straight…so with that in mind I was looking for a top ten finish.
The thing is, most drivers going at a similar pace to me where just not making enough mistakes Wink I managed to finally pass one Lotus fair and square –  so was happy with that > and I was happy that I made no big mistakes and didnt manage to balls-up anyone else’s race due to my tiredness.

11th ….i dunno….i was looking for a top ten - but I couldn’t of done much more – i had a bump from will16v mid race which spun me off @ T1 > without that would a p10 finish of been possible?…mmmm I dunno.  (np about the bump – just one of them things)

I should of drove the Daytona!

grats to Ginsters, fine performance > a in beast of a car.
and also Ruskus starting from the back and finishing p2, impressive
