Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 185s

Sandor is following a BMW closely at the main straight. This blocks his view and that probably caused him to miss his braking point.
He then overshoots and collects Ade hard. Ade then slides into the wall and loses a lot of places.
It didn't look like Sandor was trying to overtake Ade, but still it was avoidable and because it was early in the race, the damage to Ade was severe.

Server replay time: 232s

Wiltshire Tony rejoins the track in the twisty bits. He does that off the racing line, but soon comes onto the racing line again. His speed is still slow 'cause of the off, this causes Alex to slightly nudge him, which cause Tony to spin.
This incident was a avoidable for both drivers. Tony should have rejoined in a safer way, and Alex might have been able to avoid the contact. Because of that, there will be no penalties for this.

  • Alex vV (Alex v Veldhoven)warning — Rear end contact
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded
  • Wiltshire Tonywarning — Dangerous rejoin
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 620s

Psuedo rearends Alex, spinning him around. The following cars can't avoid the spinning cars, and drive into them.
This wasn't reported by Alex, which would have cancelled the penalty, but it was reported by the following drivers who were caught out.
So eventhough the first victim didn't report it, it still gets a penalty because the other victims did.

  • psuedopenalty — Rear end shunt — 2 places lost

i've got a Belkin router and i had no problems at all with the GTL lobby or servers over the last couple of nights.

And Will...shame on you! You should have refused to use that colour on the grounds of common decency  euro and the mods shouldnt have allowed it in the skin pack ! surrender , it would look more at home in Duke Nukem or banger racing !!

Highly eventful race! Not sure I can even remember all that happened. The overwhelming feeling i'm left with is UNDERSTEER!!

I got a blinder of a start going from 6th on the grid to 2nd :0

Thought I could manage to buffer PR from JR foir a while but only managed to hold onto it for a lap! The darker lighting conditions caught me out on the braking zone into T1 as I couldnt see the darker patch on the road that I was using as a guide (note to self, have a backup braking marker such as the 200 sign!) - so went off and JR was through already.

I knew there was no catching them two so I just tried to look after my tyres as much as possible (what with Parabolica being a total tyre killer) so that maybe at the end of the race I might be able to claw back some ground. It sort of worked but had a hectic moment where I went down the middle of 2 cars coming into Parabolica and promptly got over excited and threw it into the wall half-way around Cheesy

Still it was fun and I do like the track. I think its one of those where it would be a lot easier in real life as the spacial awareness is really tircky with the constantly variable radius bends when you can only see it on screen. More down to memory than visibility to know the lines.

Congratulations to the podium - a very tough race to be consistent. Glad this wasn't an enduro length race Cheesy

i hadnt driven the GT40 for probably two months so the simracing league seemed a good place to take the beast for a spin - no pun intended Wink

Quali went OK...typical understeer & traction issues you would expected from the GT40, so i was near the back by the end of quail.

As for the race – did I have the best start of all? blasted up to 10th (could of pushed the to get in to 8th...but risk/reward made me back-off).

Car felt relatively OK for the opening laps, very easy to understeer slightly wide...them 911/Escort’s would try and slip down the inside  - I was therefore forced to open the throttle too much just to keep my position only to run wide on the very next corner > all them left-right-left-right-left combos drove me nuts! The straights bits where pretty good for me.

Had a bump form oily? - which spun be back to 15th'ish.
After that, i settled in - probably lapping 1:54/55's keeping the driving low risk - therefore with no big mistakes...
By the final lap managed to power my way to 12th...
but got taken on the very last corner by Will in he's green 911 Sad  so busy dealing GT40 handling issues I didn’t even know it was the final lap.

Good points for me - no mistakes, only GT40 running, didnt finish last.
Bad points - way off pace, that final corner 12th>13th!

Grats to the top three – wow a 911 didn’t win, even an Escort in 2nd!

Quite an exciting 2nd UKGTL race for me.

After qualifying 4th, I got passed by Baracus at the start but outdragged D Minton's Escort to T1. He got past me on the brakes but ran wide & I retook the position. Shadowed the 3 BMs for the first lap then at T3 on lap 2 I got on the gas too early while keeping an eye on Baracus rejoining & spun to the tail of the field. So started a long recovery drive.

Quickly made up a few places as people went off & caught up to Keith's GT40, who was difficult to pass as his car was so fast on the straight. After a lap behind the GT40, Mr Oily was close behind & when I had to slow to avoid the GT40 in the twisties he bumped me & spun me around. Lost a couple of places before rejoining & set out after the pack again.

Places were easy to gain after that as it seemed every time I nearly caught up with someone, they would go off track or collide with someone else! I made one more mistake later in the race when I had closed in on Tinman & spun at T1 but did a quick 360 & didn't lose any places. About this time my pitboard went a bit funny & I seemed to be in a different position each lap. One lap 10th, the next 17th, the next 12th all without passing anyone!

Eventually came up behind Mark Jonzo who had just spun. Followed him until T1 on the next lap where he went off & handed me 8th place which is where I finished. However the results show me 9th behind Mark! Odd.

I have watched the server replay & when I crossed the finish line ahead of Mark it says I am 17th & then changes to 9th with Mark shown as 8th! Simbin gremlins at work again I guess. Oh well was a fun race.

Cya all next week

Geoffer's position has now been corrected. Never seen GTL get it quite so wrong in the export; his last 5 laps all have the wrong start time in the export. Huh
