Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 51s

Baracus brakes far later than those around him into T1 and, despite his best efforts to avoid contact, hits the back of Ruskus very hard. It was only through a mixture of luck and Ruskus's driving skills that a very serious incident was avoided. Credit goes to Baracus for admitting his mistake and apologising accordingly.

Server replay time: 53s

Steve Holmes gets a very good start, overtakes a few but brakes much later than those around him, and probably too late, into first turn. Unfortunately, he clatters into Dan Minton, effectively ending his race and causes chaos for those behind. Much to his credit, Steve has owned up to his mistake and apologises for it.

Both these first turn incidents share the same underlying problem which needs to be addressed. Both Steve and Baracus appear to be trying to gain places whilst those around them are proceeding with great caution, hence even two of our best and fairest drivers were caught out by the careful and slightly early braking into first turn. We want to continue to see the same common sense and cautious approach to the first corner and, now this issue has been raised, we do not want to see the same mistakes that featured here again. Yes, race and take places into first turn but equally, be very wary.

  • Steve Holmespenalty — Penalty - Rear end shunt — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 1123s

Ade spins whilst trying to hold off PR into first tight chicane. To be fair he ends up in an awfull spot right on the racing line and you can almost sense him mulling over his options. Unfortunately, he gets it a little wrong and reverses into Tin Man whilst being unsighted. Considering no damage was done, the tight spot Ade was in and how TinMan is willing to let it pass then no penalty is necessary.

Racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 2000s

After the unfortunate first turn incident Dan expresses his displeasure via the in-game chat. Whatever the provacation, there can be no excuse for this behaviour. Considering the language used, perhaps this may have been passed over without the similar later incident and Dan has publicly apologised for his mistake so this will only result in a warning.

Warning-abusive language.

Server replay time: 2000s

After another incident, in which no blame has been apportioned, Assassino expresses his displeasure via the in-game chat. But he uses much more colourful language and is far more personnal in his abuse than the earlier incident. Again, there is no provocation that can justify this reaction. As this is a more serious offence than earlier incident, reluctantly we have no choice but to exclude Assassino from this event.

These two incidents have shocked and suprised us all and will not be tolerated again. This time, we have been inclined to be somewhat lenient in our punishments but if anyone errs in this manner again the penalty will be far more draconian. No one wants to see it and we will not accept it again.

Flipping 'eck Ginsters...i'm not one for modern gizmos in old classics but i must get myself some of those twin airbags !  Tongue tt1

Dont tell the Legends team accountant, but i wrote off about 4 priceless GTO's in practise  Embarrassed including one that burst into flames! Shocked

I'm down to about 2:30 after 20mins but still very much just learning the track and know ive got a good 5-10 secs per lap to find yet Shocked. Sector 3 corner markers are plain liars !! where it says 3rd its 2nd and very hard braking etc ! So take all sector 3 markers with a big pinch of salt and a heavy brake foot! Wink

Not sure i like the track, feels like a modern street circuit like Macua, rather than seeing some of historic Porto, its all concrete and catch fencing. Its also very narrow, but i guess plenty of places to out-brake or draft on straights. Any accidents could end up with multi-car pile ups  Sad so extra caution will be needed on the tighter 2nd gear chicanes and when following another car closely. There are some run off areas/escape roads at the tightest corners so very wise to aim for them if you find yourself running out of brakes!
The tracks saving grace for me is that a lot of us saw it being used for real in the GT Racers program so that gives it a bit of 'real life' racing factor to associate with.

Raced against 19 AIs at Porto - what an eye opener.  Now convinced you should all start at 3 min intervals to avoid traffic congestion - it was worse than trying to cross the Tamar in August  Shocked sweatdrop

Good luck to you all - its worse than Monaco

yeah im thinking this maybe one of those great tracks in theory but not in practise !  Lips Sealed

Although many of us watched the GT Racers program at this track, the difference is they were driving real classics worths hundreds of thousands of pounds and were therefore a little bit more careful around the walls and chicanes ! Tongue
I hope we all exercise the same caution under braking !!  Shocked

Lol Laurie, you man or mouse? Wink

Think street circuit races have had mixed reviews here and the I guess the jury is still out. To be honest, we can't be sure how this will work out but it would be a dull old world if we didn't give these things a go Smiley. Driving standards have generally been very good so far so I see no reason why the odd street race can't work (famous last words).

Luckily the Healey is a sturdy old bus anyways, it should have plenty "bouncebackability". Best of 2.24 for me so far.

Hate this place. The curbing on the side of the road can easily flip you up and OVER the track barriers ending your race rather quick. The problem with this is when (and I say WHEN not If) there's a pile up, there's a good chance you're going to hit that curb trying to void an accident - launching you off track. This place is way to narrow and closed off, even if you make a solo error there's a high chance you're going to take someone else out with you as you can't veer off track. Sad I can just see a bunch of accidents or no over taking - or both - on this track.

Also, if you choose the Ferrari 250 GTB it will also have the Addon Ferrari cars as selections, so you don't have to do the entire 65 class for it.

We agree that this is going to be different  Smiley For me, its good to go into a track that presents a different challenge. Clearly quali pace is gonna be crucial, consistent error free racing will be more important than outright pace and luck will play a fair part. Not saying I would want to do it every week but I consider it a "special" event in S5 Smiley I can't really come on here and moan that someone has gone off in front of me and ruined my race afterwards, cause its all part of street circuit racing for me.

Also, I enjoyed the track when we first tested it a month a go and am enjoying it more with pracci. 2.21 now but not much more to come I fear  :'(

Looking foreward to this one  Cheesy

Being the one who enters the first corner last most of the times, I know traffic jams are going to be a problem... so be it! That's part of racing on street circuits and anyone who has seen last year's WTCC weekend in Porto know there's going to be trouble  Grin

Going to race the car-without-brakes so will probably be slow (2:30 at best) but I'm going to be at the back in style...  laugh
... and will use the extra large rear view mirror  Wink

Great choice Ginsters.. (track and car)

words well spoken Ginsters  Cool  Must admit i am not a fan of this track having tried it a couple of times now. It is too narrow and tight really, but like you say, its a one off in the schedule and the idea of a race season is to encompass all sorts of track layouts to put our race craft to the test.

So be it !

anyone got a good GTO setup?
