Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 51s

Baracus brakes far later than those around him into T1 and, despite his best efforts to avoid contact, hits the back of Ruskus very hard. It was only through a mixture of luck and Ruskus's driving skills that a very serious incident was avoided. Credit goes to Baracus for admitting his mistake and apologising accordingly.

Server replay time: 53s

Steve Holmes gets a very good start, overtakes a few but brakes much later than those around him, and probably too late, into first turn. Unfortunately, he clatters into Dan Minton, effectively ending his race and causes chaos for those behind. Much to his credit, Steve has owned up to his mistake and apologises for it.

Both these first turn incidents share the same underlying problem which needs to be addressed. Both Steve and Baracus appear to be trying to gain places whilst those around them are proceeding with great caution, hence even two of our best and fairest drivers were caught out by the careful and slightly early braking into first turn. We want to continue to see the same common sense and cautious approach to the first corner and, now this issue has been raised, we do not want to see the same mistakes that featured here again. Yes, race and take places into first turn but equally, be very wary.

  • Steve Holmespenalty — Penalty - Rear end shunt — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 1123s

Ade spins whilst trying to hold off PR into first tight chicane. To be fair he ends up in an awfull spot right on the racing line and you can almost sense him mulling over his options. Unfortunately, he gets it a little wrong and reverses into Tin Man whilst being unsighted. Considering no damage was done, the tight spot Ade was in and how TinMan is willing to let it pass then no penalty is necessary.

Racing incident.

Server replay time: 2000s

After the unfortunate first turn incident Dan expresses his displeasure via the in-game chat. Whatever the provacation, there can be no excuse for this behaviour. Considering the language used, perhaps this may have been passed over without the similar later incident and Dan has publicly apologised for his mistake so this will only result in a warning.

Warning-abusive language.

Server replay time: 2000s

After another incident, in which no blame has been apportioned, Assassino expresses his displeasure via the in-game chat. But he uses much more colourful language and is far more personnal in his abuse than the earlier incident. Again, there is no provocation that can justify this reaction. As this is a more serious offence than earlier incident, reluctantly we have no choice but to exclude Assassino from this event.

These two incidents have shocked and suprised us all and will not be tolerated again. This time, we have been inclined to be somewhat lenient in our punishments but if anyone errs in this manner again the penalty will be far more draconian. No one wants to see it and we will not accept it again.

I am hoping to join you all tomorrow at delightful Porto.  Using the Alpine I have managed most laps in 2:32.xx and occasionally got into the 2:31's.  Think this means I'm inside the 10% rule so unless something goes belly-up I'll join you (at the back of course).

What is name of your chat room and where do I get the pass word - noticed on Ginster's first post it says race 'password above' - but link is inactive.  Last question, is it a normal standing start?

Chat room? You've been playing GPL too long mate!  laugh
There's the blasted SimBin lobby to go through to get to the server. Angry

That's about the same pace as me so if they don't let you race I'm in big trouble! Grin

As for the server name and start type:

Start: STANDING

Server: UKGTL Classics Cup

Looking forward to racing against you (assuming I don't crash at the first corner Grin).

Just done a few laps - going to sit this one out, despite the Healey being available, as it's stupidly tight and almost bound to end in the same sort of carnage which has stopped me racing at Monaco too. Undecided

Here's an idea: why don't we have a UKGTL endurance race at Monaco? lol

Not really complaining of the track choice - as it's very fun to drive.

Moreso worried about the fact that I'm far from a professional video game race car driver, and I have a bad feeling that my hours of practice/tweaking the setup will be wasted due to the fact that this track literally will not allow a single error Sad

None of us are professionals here, and I for one have the same fears, Every race...GTL and GTR2 (just read last nights race report from mugello lol) but I also enjoy the challenge and this track offers a slightly different one to the normal in the sense of more cunning and guile rather than out right pace or driving skill......not managed to turn a wheel here yet, but I am quite looking forward to it, despite the obvious difficulties.

Great choice Ginsters.. (track and car)

Thanks but, as with all things UKGTL, I can't take all the credit. If the harbingers of doom here are proved right, please remember this was Pseudo's choice Wink

Softly softly, get punted by a monkey (no offence) more likely, but its a great idea in theory Ade Grin

Even if you don't finish, just take heart that the replay footage of us all through that last chicane will make a lovely souvenir for all the family.

Do we have any video editors in the place? I feel a YouTube destruction montage coming on..muhahahahaa

ran some more laps last night but it doesnt get any easier !

I'm setting quick times, (2:28's) but as someone else mentioned, it doesnt allow a single error or you are in big trouble. Very hard to be consistent (in the right way) i found, two quick laps, tag a barrier, two quick laps, tag a barrier... Tongue

Very easy to flip the car along the kerbed armco, which is a bit naff.
