Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 425s

Kerr gets cleanly alongside Backo in T1, there is minor side by side rubbing. Entering T2 Kerr is ahead with Backo behind on the inside. Backo brakes late, dives down the inside suddenly and rides right up on the kerb, sliding off the kerb into Brian and spinning him off. Backo carries on while Brian loses a lot of places. Backo refused to accept the loss of position and stuck it up the inside come what may.

  • BACKO — Over-ambitious overtake — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 658s

Dan gets a run on Ade and makes a late braking move to the inside. Looks like Ade saw this coming and leaves some room, but perhaps not enough, as the tail of Dan's car slides a foot or two out and lightly touches the side of Ade who runs wide off track. Dan got completely alongside entering the corner and he was completely under control, so it was his corner. Tough on Ade who did leave a little space but just needed to leave a tiny bit more space to let Dan claim the apex.

Another great scrap on a new track for me. Couldn't get near Pseudo or SBG in qual (great times guys  thumbup1) so started just in front of the Vipers of Ted and H@l9000 (hard luck to Dan who started at the back after a late disco). I expected to get gobbled up on the run to T1 but they must have been sleeping a bit because I had no problem. I chased SBG hard, but a bit too hard as it turned out when I put a wheel into the syrup on the outside of the last chicane and got dragged off. After losing a place to Ted I was then under pressure from H@l who had followed me into the syrup. He got past on the outside towards T1 but a late dive down the inside of the heavy Viper got the place back. I then had a lap chasing Ted, and thought I had a chance into T6, but he caught me out by starting to turn in slightly earlier than I expected, so I had to turn into the curb to avoid and promptly spun. The next few laps I had a ding-dong battle with a hard charging Dan working his way up from the back - hard work but great fun  clap I managed to fend him off until he made a slip at T1 and dropped back. As the stops approached I was closing a bit on SBG but then had several really bad laps as the lappers came through. What was most frustrating was that most of them then peeled off and pitted before they slowed SBG down - drat!

I almost messed up my pitstop by locking up and sliding sideways into the pits but just kept it facing forwards and had a good stop otherwise. After the stop I closed in on SBG, but it was clearly going to be tough to pass him. I got really close but in the end I went off at the last corner - nothing to do with you Ian, just braked a fraction late. It looked all over at that point, but I kept pushing and the gaps started to come down again. I then seemed to suffer another attack of unfortunate lapping (partly as they passed me and then went off and had to do it again), whereas SBG seemed to have much better luck. Even so the gap was down to 0.6 by the last lap, but I ran out of time and had to settle for 2nd.

Congrats to SBG for yet another win - great consistent driving  Smiley Also to Jeff for winning in the Seat, which can't be the best car at Mugello. Well done to all the KC lads with another strong showing and especially Mike who looks likely to be challenging for wins very soon. No complaints about the lapping btw - it just fell at the wrong time for me, but that is just racing.

PS You must have better nerves than me Ian if you can finish 0.7 ahead and call it a 'boring cruise to the finish' ! Wink

Lol, I was speaking relatively there. Your slip meant I could stop driving at my 100% for a few laps which was nice Smiley I really had shot my bolt trying to hold you off 1st time Smiley

Qualified 7th and was able to follow the first group from the beginning. After Kerr situation M3s drove away and I also had a senior moment driving into the sand. Came out behind PRibeiro, Jan and MarkMc.  Roll Eyes  Had some close, but safe racing with PRibeiro - man that BiT really pushes on the straights.  Shocked  Had to seek my opportunity through braking and it went ok. MarkMc kept making sandcastles  Tongue , but I had more troubles with Jan's Fezza - that car is fast through the flowing corners. Had some close laps with Jan and one SCARRY  scared  moment when he decided to pit when I was nearing with slipstream and was going to pass on the right.  eek  Decided to stay one lap longer to be sure to have a shorter pit-stop. Pushed too much, binned it and lost 2,5 seconds. So when I came out of the pits I was again behind.  Tongue  Close racing again and when I finaly passed Jan I had nothing to do but cruise and keep distance from the following car. I tried to push hard for some laps, but was gaining only tenths on Picnic, so I decided to give him a chance to make a mistake.  Wink
Passing other class was fine.  Cool  It was amusing to see Shark at some rally driving.  Grin

Hadn't practiced for this and just took my Brno setup with 2-1 wing Cheesy. Felt pretty good but was still understeery in the corners  Grin.

Mike and FreQ got infront at the end of qually. I knew FreQ would do that, as he always does his racelaps in qually as well, and only does quallylap near the end.

The first few laps Mike and FreQ had an increasing gap infront of me. But then Mike started attacking FreQ and I was gaining. Then I was gaining on Mike when he lost some speed, but soon after he drove away again and was right on FreQ's tail. When we met backmarkers he went off and I was behind FreQ. Surprisingly I was only 2,4s behind him, especially when he accidentically started on soft/med combo. His tyres were worn and the last laps of the first stint I was gaining fast on him and the gap was only 1,5s at the stop.

He went in and I knew I would have to go in asap then, so I pitted the nex lap. Came out behind him again, and also behind PR Grin. That's so funny, as 3 races now in this series for me, and 3 times the exact same thing happened. Me and FreQ ending up behind PR after our stops. How big are the odds Grin?

He let us both past and I was following FreQ. I was slowly gaining on him and eventually had a 0,4s gap behind him at the straight. I then used the power and low drag of the Seat to power alongside and outbrake him.

After that I had to push hard to increase the gap as quickly as possible, as the Dunlops wear out 50% quicker than the Michelins. Last few laps I was teaking it carefull as the tyrewear was 25 at the front and it's easy to mess up a whole bunch of corners.

Grats SBG on the GT3 win Smiley.

Really enjoyed the race again last night - it seemed to be in 3 stages for me.

First half of the race was spent trying to get settled in - I found it hard to judge where to turn in to the corners and consistently seemed to be braking too soon and therefore turning too soon. Sorry Paul if this caught you out early on.

After the pits I came out a few seconds behing Ade, and although I managed to catch him and then pass him, I couldn't get away from him - really enjoyed that part of the race, trying to fend you off in the corners but managing to pull away a bit on the straights.

Then all of a sudden I looked in the mirrors and there was nobody there, so thought I was home and dry, but of course there was Simon catching extremely rapidly. I decided to try to defend my position rather than let him through, and again I hope my driving was fair in doing this.

Managed to hold on (just) for 3rd, but had sweaty palms by the end  Smiley

Great fun, looking forward to the next one.

Ted

Also sorry to Spanner, I thought you were giving room there, but once again I thought wrong.

It was probably more my fault, looking at the replay again. I had just fallen off at the first corner right in front of Freq(sorry) and had just crawled out and misjudged how close you where in my mirrors which meant you ended up on me right at the wrong place, and it looked like you two were fighting but you were only lapping Roll Eyes . I was actually trying to keep to the inside of the second part of the chicane but its alot tighter than i though.

I lost the front splitter and had already lost temp in the tyres so struggled to carry on for the last 10 mins.

Amazingly the whole field was quite close all the way through so any mistake and someone was though. Early on ade came up behind API and was being held up but i got such a good run on Ade i had to have a go! ( Sorry about that Ade) I decided to make the first stint slightly longer but struggled on worn tyres and amazingly was in 15 before pitting and it was the first time running a 'manual' pit stop but didnt switch the engine off so the pit crew stood there while they barked at me to turn it off! Disappointingly when i came out i was 40 secs behind the one infront but by the looks of things i might have been closer towards the end, oh well..

Great race for me this one.

Suprised i got into the 49's in qualy but was very nice and could of gone a little quicker apart from a few mistakes.
Race started good but soon had Backo all over me, held him for 4 laps or so untill i made a minor error on the last turn. Settled down and got into a good pace and very consistant laps. I fuelled myself a little heavy for the first stint but went in a couple of laps after the leaders, Backo stayed out a few more and i got back past him as he was exiting the pits. I seem to have got to grips with pitstops now which was letting me down bad in previous races.

Backo caught me pretty quickly and we had a great few laps scrapping but i could see that it was slowing us both down and Picnic was catching us so i made the dicision to let him pass and concentrate on keeping ahead of Picnic. He did catch me for the last few laps but i had just enough to keep infront and then (although i didnt realise till i saw the results posted on here) Backo went off on the last turn of the last lap which gave me a great 4th.

Really enjoyed it and must say the Gt3 guys were excellent as far as i was concerned.

Grats to both podiums.
