Moderator's Report

Newly formed team Crash 'n Burn racing couldn't wish for a better start to the season. Art drove a flawless race and deservedly won the season opener.

Very impressive showing from his team-mate Will who also claimed fastest lap in his Brabham, a tenth faster than the fastest (and only) Brabham in Master's Kyalami race (that would be me).

Chris Bull occupied the final podium position.

All round, there was some interesting and very clean racing.

Congratulations to Art, Will and Chris.

Server replay time: 0h01m05s

Lap 1 - Phil gets caught on cold tyres and cannot go around turn 1 and whilst avoiding contact with Will Tway's Brabham, touches the outside kerb. Tim Robey on the other hand goes too wide into Turn 1 having had no clue where exactly Paul McCluskey on the inside is. Tim touches Phil and both are sent into spin.
The accident occured due to mistakes from both drivers so no penalty is given.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h03m08s

Lap 2 - Steve Bird makes a mistake into Turn 2 and slides off into the fence. Makes a Shift R but fails to perform a Stop and Go.

Server replay time: 0h08m07s

Lap 6 - Ian Docherty is following Burt for a couple of laps and ultimatelly on lap 6, decides to go for the inside of turn 1, whilst a car lenght behind. Ian brakes much later and while Burt is taking his normal line, to which he is entitled, flying Ian touches him from the side and slides off onto the grass.
Burt remained in front and this incident has not affected Burt's race and as Ian drove a good clean race, I've opted not issue any penalty.

Server replay time: 0h33m27s

Lap 23 - Bernie is running out of fuel and with one lap to go, enters pitlane, stops and resets then drives last lap without taking Stop and Go.

According to the sporting regulations, specific Clubman's rules on Shift R state: As per Historic Trophy but Shift-R's in the pitlane are not allowed.

In this situation best thing to do is reset before pitlane and then perform SnG or perform SnG on the last lap at the very beginning of the pitlane, making sure to complete the SnG before crossing the finish line.

UKGPL Season 15 Clubmans Cup - Round 1- Kyalami - Mar 30

Gentlemen,

Welcome to Season 15 of UKGPL's Clubman division. I am the new moderator for Clubman division and I am looking forward to my first season as a moderator. My weakness is attention to details so I will be very keen to look at what everyone is doing, especially during starts and first laps when most incident occurs. You are encouraged to report incidents and provide your side of the story.

IMPORTANT: We use the Kyalami version with pitwall so make sure that you do have it.

I wish you all a very good luck.

Please note that the races will use IGOR, announcement follows.

Cheers,

Kruger

Looking forward to it too.

Sorry, noobie question again.  Where do I get the track with the pit wall.  I looked at my usual source 'GPL Alternative Track Database' and they have 5 versions of Kyalami, but none mention a pit wall.

Please could you point me in the right direction (and that would be nice when we get on track too, it's so embarrasing leaving the pit lane the wrong way  laugh).

Hi Steve, I think its as simple as renaming or removing these two files from your track folder: kyalami.trk and kyalami.3do.

Best thing is simply to add to their name "nowall" or something like that so that later you can revert to no pitwall version if you like.

I hope this helps.

Looking forward to this aswell

I'm liking the new start time aswell  Grin

See you all soon.

Bully.

A question about the pit wall. Does the server need to have the pit wall or just the clients? I'm not sure

Probably wouldn't matter as long as you could be sure all clients had it installed but it would make it difficult to check from the replay. If you have it on the server and you then see someone drive through it in the replay then you know they didn't have it installed.

Ahh, just thought actually the server has only the basic papy tracks so it will have the pit wall anyway. Smiley

Nice Avatar BTW Will Cheesy

Hiya to remove the pit wall I rename kyalami.trk to kyalami.trk.old and armco_s.mip to armco_s.mip.old

I dont think you need to change the 3do file.

Thanks Guys, I renamed all three files.  I had to change the 3do file for the wall too appear, otherwise it was there but couldn't see it.  Anyway, sorted.  Cheers.

Yes, just another note on the subject. Be sure to physically test you actually have a pitwall by trying to drive in to it. You can get situations where the wall is visible but not solid and you can drive straight through it.   Smiley
