Moderator's Report

Lorenzo Galluzzi takes a comprehensive victory in his McLaren.Kruger Enge and Clive Gardner are the other podium finishers.
The race featured a big Lap 1 pile up, and a few other incidents where more than 2 cars were involved. A little more restrain is to be expected on such a narrow and dangerous circuit as Monaco.

Server replay time: 0h01m02s

Lap 1 uphill after t1 – Beau Rivage

Neil Stratton leaves his braking too late and rear ends Lorenzo Galluzzi. Most of the field gets caught in the this incident. Everyone who needed it, is entitled to a no-fault S+R .

  • Glyn (Neil Stratton)penalty — rear end shunt 2 places+1 place for first lap. — 3 places lost

Server replay time: 0h01m03s

pits
Phil Thornoton starts from the pits. Since his pitstall is after the s-f line, GPL doesn't credit him with a lap until he crosses the line at the end of the lap. Phil actually finished in 6th place, 1 lap down. Results changed to reflect this.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h04m00s

Lap 2 Chicane
Phil Thornton starts to slide as he exits the chicane, That slows down his car and Clive Loynes clips him. Clive is then thrown into Ken Murrays path. Racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h05m45s

Lap 3 Chicane
Clive Loynes starts to lose control on the entrance to the chicane. Neil Stratton runs into him. Both cars need a S+R. Racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h35m22s

Lap 24 Beau Rivage
Chris Bull spins on the track. Terry Worth runs into his car before Chris can regain control and flips him upside down. Chris can not reset as other cars are passing by. Kruger Enge runs into Chris's car. Both Kruger Enge and Chris Bull need S+R's. Racing incident.

UKGPL Season 15 - Historic Division - Race 1 - 66 mod - Monaco

Welcome to the Historic division. This will be the first official UKGPL division using anything other than 67 cars. This season will run on the tracks and in the order as in 1966. Since we have 23 drivers applied some will have to be reserves. You can see your status on the championship page (FT - full time, R1 - reserve). Reserves need to wait until 30 minutes left on the server before joining the race.
Drivers will be using their assigned chassis during the whole season. I reserve the right to change chassis if the driver is well over or under performing in the given chassis.
Besides the teams championship (team as registered on SRou), we will have a Manufacturers championship. Every driver will be able to score for his manufacturer (e.g. Brabham BRM and Brabham Repco both score for Brabham manufacturer), but only top two finishers are eligible for points (as we have 4 Brabhams, 4 Lotuses...).
To make sure your incidents are moderated, use SRou system for submitting them. I can only catch so much, but will review everything that is reported. Race announcement and chassis assignments follow:

UKGPL Season 15 - Historic Division - Race 1 is this Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. London UK time (8:00 p.m. GMT).

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:55 p.m.

Syd

Can you clarify the race time please , as "London time" will actually be British Summer Time at that stage, not GMT

Shouldn't there be a Lotus 33 Climax on the list?

Two cars were left unassigned. Lotus 33 Climax and Brabham 2.5l. They might be assigned to potential new members (or you if that L43 proves to be to fast  Grin).

Did you purposely mistype that Syd? Because the L43 can sometimes feel "too fats" when your stuck behind it!!!

I realise that this season is organised and ready to go and it seems that since it's instigation it has been accepted that we will run a handicap system. So I am happy to participate and see how it pans out. However I would just like to suggest that at sometime in the future we consider running an open Championship. There are so many cars to choose from in the Mod but atm I've driven very few of them and I wont be driving anymore in this Historic Championship. Since like many of us my leisure time is limited I don't normally drive much except in the League races, also I enjoy racing other human beings much more than hotlapping and I would hardly ever even consider matching myself against those strange things called AI. So hopefully in the future we might consider running Div 1 as 66 Mod rather than 67's?

Damn spell checker.  Grin
We will see how this season goes, and we will consider all ideas, including using 66 mod in more than one division.

I agree - I prefer driving the 66 cars to the 67s. I think once we have more data on car performance, we should be able to run an open Championship (with the Coopermen leading the way, of course.....no need to even change our names, hurrah!).

Thinking of getting bull bars fitted to the back of mine to fend off all the small fry.  Grin

Speed of the cars, past ukgpl performance, gpl rank, and desire to assign as many different chassis as possible. Unfortunately, speed of the cars is currently a big unknown. McLaren for example is not necessarily the slowest car. At fast track like Spa and Reims it should easily beat Climax cars, and maybe some others. But because the schedule is 70% slow or medium tracks (where it's slowest) I set it as worst car. There is also a pretty good idea which cars are the fastest (Brabham Bt19, Ferrari, Cooper), but the ones in the middle are still very much murky, and this season might show us some additional info on their relative performances.

I'm not on the chassis assignment list, but it isn't a problem...

I give up for the season, due to personal reason.... Sorry.

Have fun
