Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 173s

Backo spins on the formation lap. He then proceeds to drive back through the field, lights flashing, almost crashing into Simon Gymer and Gazza49er on the way.

Overtaking on the formation lap is forbidden and when it's the result of the driver's own stupid mistake is even more unacceptable.

  • BACKOpenalty — overtaking on the pace lap — 2 places lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

That was good fun...Bit of a nightmare start with Stewpovos car freezing coming onto the s/f straight, His car was still there at the end of lap 1 and just about avoided it which left Backo no chance to ovoid (sorry mate didnt see it till late).  Couldnt stay with Ginsters and Freq and gazza slowly stared to catch but managed to keep the gap due to the traffic. Made my pitstop which took 75 bloody secs and changed the fronts to softs.
Gazza flew past as i exited the pitlane and then i went straight of at the first corner trying to use the clutch pedal as a brake Roll Eyes. This left me 12 seconds behind Gazza but i started to gain ,  Had a great battle as we lapped the GTC boys and was just about to make my move as i had a better drive coming out of the final corner (due to Gazza,s fuel running out)  when Gaz just slowed ,real shame would have been a great last lap.
Grats to class podiums and sorry for the tap Jan and everyones weird connection problems
Cheers

That was hard work all the way through. Could quite get on the pace of Mike or Ruskus so had to settle for 3rd on the grid. Things panned out much as I expected. Initially I was quite close to Ruskus but never had a real chance to get past. After that he eased away even when I was driving 10/10ths, so I had to settle into a rhythm and hope he made a error. This didn't happen (no surprise there  Roll Eyes) but towards the end of the stint he started to come back to me and I passed him as he entered the pitlane. I pitted a lap later for a splash of fuel and tyres, got it pretty much spot on but had to watch him cruise past down the straight as I came out. When Mike pitted I was happy to see him emerge behind me and quite relieved to see the gap grow shortly after. Mike soon started to get back on the pace though, and as the clock wound down he was clearly in my mirrors. I was just trying to work out how to keep him behind when I lost concentration and went off - plonker  Roll Eyes That was game over really as the gap back to TT was around half a minute, so I had to settle for 3rd.

Congrats to JR on the win and to Mike for a storming drive to 2nd. Also to Freq and SBG in GT1 - looks like you had a great battle  thumbup1 Thanks to those I lapped and those who lapped me - apart from a minor tap at the hairpin it all went pretty smoothly.

Bad luck with all those CTDs and Legends team leader not able to join the fray.  Sad Also for Darren who had a pace for 4th - damn that unnecessary wall they put there, eh?  Wink
After the initial cloud of smoke went away I was behind MJ who was trying to overtake Picnic. High wing, MJ?  Tongue
Later I got a good run on Picnic on s/f straight and managed to get by on braking. Good pace in that TVR, Picnic.  Cool
That was about all that is to say about my race. Couldn't get near the pace of the first three, and I was faster than the guys behind.  yawn  I think only getting out of the way of the GTs was what kept me awake.  sleep1  Good result for MJ, 5th.  thumbup1
What is interesting is the difference from the Sprint race here. I thought I have a good pace and have 2nd place to prove it. 3 aliens appear and one gets a totaly different perspective.

So: either drive regularly, or stay away - you're disrupting the order!    smartass

TT

Let's get the penthouse suite! Grin

But yea, Jeff tried to let me past into Arabiatta 1, which is a real bitch to go side-by-side into, and I thought the Vertigo in Jeff's hands would be just about as fast as most GT1's, so I elected to stay behind. The next time I caught him at exactly the same friggin spot, he went nice and fast through it and cost us both much less.  Cool

CTD near the end of qualy  Sad

Slight mix up with a Morgan, pribeiro i think, leaving the pits in qualy as i was quickly trying to get another lap in after my CTD. We both went to let each other past and it got very messy. Sorry mate my fault as I was in the GT1 I should have just gone past  Sad  It would have made an amusing replay moment  Grin

Thanks for waiting Dave, the race would have been very boring for me if you had not done that  Smiley  Shame I put it in the gravel when I got close to you preventing a closer battle but there was a few side by side moments Smiley.

GT1 guys were all great at lapping, though H@9000 is still way to hesitant to pass and i kept losing time hanging off racing line

Yep sorry mate. I was being extra careful this race as i had allot of overtaking of GTC to do and I had a few suspect moments in the last UE race. But yes I can see that I over did that and i think quite a few people ended up losing some time because of this. My intention was not to slow any GTCs down at all. As I had large gaps between me and other GT1s most of the race I thought I would just take it very easy when passing GTCs.

Thanks for the advise MJ, notes have been taken for the next race  Smiley
