Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 316s

JPS starts wide and cuts across, and slams, both Sandow and Will into Stowe. They had effectively passed him and are in front by this point. JPS explains that he didn't see them due to technical problems and this is exactly how it looks, so we have no reason to doubt him.

We would expect drivers to end their race if they have any inkling of technical issues that could affect others. However, this was JPS's first GTL race and he was simply not aware that this was the case. Therefore no penalty is warranted.

  • JPS (JPS1)advice — Leave the race if you realise you are experiencing technical problems.

Good fun, for my first race in GTL.

Is it my computer or was anyone else suffering buggy issues during this event.

a. When I joined the event, the server kept loading the drivers for the race in every screen apart from when I joined the track.
b. Irregular pitbord info ie wrong + and minus info including positions.
c. Constant skidding of an invisable car in front apart from the smoke from the tyres which I could see.

Can I do anything to cure the above for the next race?

Following Blunder into T1 and thinking "thats a nice tight line he's taking, I'll follow him. I wonder why I haven't done that before". 20 spins into the air later and I twigged why it wasn't a good idea Cheesy. Hope I didn't take anyone out.

My idiocy made for a great race though. Going back up the field I first encountered some, well it can only be described as silliness really, early on. Why overdrive when there are twenty odd laps to go? Gained a couple of places like that, then got past JPS who was going well and slowly edged my way up to MJ. Great little dice, with plenty of room given, but eventually edged past and gapped him. Next up was Will I think and that was fun Smiley More fun with Ade till end of race. Gotta say it would have been really easy, and almost understandable, if any of those chaps were caught out by my early braking but the fact that it was good clean racing with them all says a lot thumbup1

Must give fair dues to Bernie who obviously got tangled in an incident and was waiting when Ade and I flew bye. I realise that must have hurt and hats off to you for doing the right thing. Not sure we could really do anything else but I took no joy from it and apologies for later clash Undecided

Congrats to JR, PR and Assasino Smiley Apologies, results and replay will be here later than usual.

Hehe, great to "be back", after missing quite a few races.

With such a long brake from GTL, I took a safe car to avoid trouble, the 906.

But boy did it feel like driving an Abarth at the start of every straight  Cheesy
The others just zooming away down the straight, no real possibility of forcing a pass on a track like this unless they made a mistake.

Of course, unlike the Abarth, the 906 corners really well, and has, I think, the shortest braking distance in the game. Maybe tied with Escort.

I tried a few setups, but took GH's Spa setup in the end. Very very easy to spin the car, both on the brakes and on the gas, but the benefit was it turned pretty good and stuck to a corner really well.

In the beginning there was always someone laying down a military grade smokescreen into that final tight righthander, making it hard to see where the track was  Grin

Was following a trio of cars the first few laps, but the others peeled away after a bit leaving Geoffers alone in my sights  Grin
I tried to put pressure on him when I could get near, but every time I had to slow down in a corner to avoid hitting him, he'd be far away at the end of the straight. I enjoyed our duel for a while, and finally Geoffers was a little late on the brakes into one of the faster corners, going wide and letting me pass on the inside. I was worried it wouldn't stick, but fortunately it did.

EDIT: Replace Pribeiro with Assasino below, I was a bit confused when writing.
After some mostly solo laps I came upon Pribeiro who was sliding around in his Vette. and I think I found the source of the earlier smokescreens  laugh

He let me pass once in much the same manner as Geoffers, but this time it didn't stick for very long. The Vette is just too fast on the straights. We caught up to 2nd place in a BMW (didn't catch the name), and I was hoping they'd cause each other to slow down enough and just maybe I could take advantage of that. It did happen eventually but only partly, as I got ahead of Prib but not the BMW. In retrospect, I should have backed down as to not slow Prib down here, their battle was my best chance of getting past both  Wink

We finished in the same order, all very close to one another. I was of course thinking, noo, just a few more laps, just a little more tire wear for them. Especially the Vette looked to be pretty tough on the tires.

All in all a very enjoyable race, even if I didn't have the most exciting car for this race. I would so have wanted a turbo boost button, or something to get a little more oomp down the straight.  Cheesy

Yeah, install the skinpack. Should be listed in the OP (first post, race details / Notes.)

I was behind you when you 'blasted off' but you got so much hang time that i was able to avoid you, I tried to go around but I probably had enough time to drive stright underneath you with the hang time you got!

I few stupid mistakes from me, got into the back of martin blunder 2/3 through the race under braking and catapulted him into the gravel. Apologies Martin. Waited for him to re-join but we both lost a few places in the act and I think it probably ruined Martin's race as he didn't seem to have the pace afterwards.

Not a great fan of this circuit, found it a bit boring although thats just my persoanl opinion.

Fair enough Smiley All your views are welcome as the easiest way to select tracks for S6 is to trawl through the forums and pick out the popular ones from a way back. Don't let us keep picking unloved tracks Wink

On that note, just been trying Warwick Park track which is a ball.

Apologies for joining late. Didn't think I could make this race, so it was a bit rushed..
did some minor tweaks to the setup, filled the petrol to the brim and the Porsche felt like a truck  Undecided

Hope I didn't got in anyone's way whilst being lapped..

b. Irregular pitbord info ie wrong + and minus info including positions.
c. Constant skidding of an invisable car in front apart from the smoke from the tyres which I could see.

Has the same issues but it didn't bother me because I was dead last  Cheesy

I've seen it before and didn't think there's a quick fix for this apart from hacking into GTL..

Nice race tho.. (and grats to to my teammate  Wink )
