Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 72s

Pseudo loses his car entering the hairpin and spins into the middle of the track where Bill cannot take evasive action. If Pseudo had lost control and run into someone directly this would be viewed differently, but Pseudo had come to a stop and was hit by Bill who was very unlucky to have no time to react and avoid the collision. This is a simple racing incident and was not reported by Bill. However, this incident does again reinforce how careful we all need to be on Lap 1 with cold tyres and brakes.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 332s

Sandor is passed cleanly by Truetom, and tucks in behind TT entering the corner. Oilseal is a long way back but is either distracted by the action ahead or senses an opportunistic move, but he brakes far too late for the corner and runs straight into Sandor, spinning him off. Oilseal does not wait for Sandor but takes the place, while Sandor loses 2 places. The move by Oilseal was never on and having made the mistake he should have waited for Sandor to rejoin in front of him.

Gotta keep the standing starts even though I had exactly the same issue, 2 cars in front slow starting!
As long as you are not taken out then I am for keeping it!

Great racing all!
Had lots of close racing. Up to 4th at one point but either a slight tap from behind or a minor mistake
gave me a short spin. Rejoined in 8th... rats but finished 5th so can't complain.

Really enjoyed it!

Grats to the podium, especially my Team mate!
Look forward to next time!

Tough luck Bara and sad not to see PR tonight Embarrassed Apologies for start Pseudo, my tvr went into 2nd from neutral and caused minor chaos behind me. Sorry to the oldie car right behind me Embarrassed These things do happen with standing starts and perhaps we should change it?

That said, that was the best race and a fun finish to the season for me Smiley Fluked my way to lead after Bara was unlucky but made mistake of counting my chickens, got ahead of myself and had a slow speed spin. Sat on outside of corner, waiting to rejoin, which mesmerised Oily and Ade who copied my move and span into me Cheesy Luckily, Ade sent me facing right way and I was off again. Caught Oily for lead this time but TVR brakes speared me off and back to 7th. Great few laps battling the Oldie fellas to the end. Grandstand finish to end a great race Smiley

Think I got into lead too early Wink Have fun next week and I'll see you all at Brands.

I think we should keep the standing starts. I admit that I missed this one, but that was because I was waiting for the pit exit lights to change... Roll Eyes

Sorry for the bad luck Bara, hope you can get your ISP issues sorted.   Sad

But I probably wouldn't have won if you'd not disconnected so thank you rubbishy ISP.

I can't believe I almost messed it up completely though, thought the fuel estimate was an overestimate so 3 laps from the end, 8s in the lead my low fuel light came on, started short shifting and not getting the tail out but started stuttering 2 corners from the end and finally spluttered out half way down pit straight but had just enough momentum to cross the line a second or two ahead of Dan.  Phew.   sweatdrop

Gotta thank Dan for letting me through as I don't think you needed to, it wasn't your fault I ran into you as you span, just a racing incident, but with no front lights I couldn't signal and I wasn't going to play the 'both slow down trying to be more gentlemanly than the other' game!

I didn't join until 5 minutes into qually since the server was on UKGTLPractice, just sat in the lobby waiting for everyone to come out and it to restart then it went to qualifying and I thought I'd better enter.  I'm sure Ian is correct that it didn't put anyone off, except dumbo me.

Oh well, this cold bottle of Staropramen as reward is going down a treat (in place of champagne!).   Grin

After my disastrous race @ Goodwood fortunate to have a good finish (yes, 12th feels like a victory to me  laugh )

Bit hectic in T1 and had to dodge several spinned cars. Then had a good fight with my teammate, Bill and some of he Prodigies (how many of you are there  Huh).
2nd half bit of a lonely race but.... first race in which I wasn't lapped (probably because JR wasn't in the race  Grin ).

Like to keep the standing starts (that's the classic racestart imo), but maybe it's an idea to introduce rolling stats for circuits which don't have a clear view on the starting lights??

Anyway, thnx for circuit/car choice. It was quite a challenge..

Have fun next race...

Hard work but really enjoyed that, Unluckey to Bara.. got a good start but Bara got the drag into T1 . Slotted in behind him then he made a mistake into the first hairpin, this let me and Steve through.  Put 2 good laps in but Steve stayed with. I then got broad side into T1 and unluckely Steve had no where to go and we both went onto the outside grass . Rejoined in 8th with Steve behind me ,i decied to let you through Steve  as i had a feeling that you were a bit quicker and could help pull me back up the field.
This worked and with a bit of synchronized spinning from SBG and Oily  Tongue  ..Steve then pulled a nice gap and i just brought it home for second.

grats to rest of podium .
see you all at the next one.
Cheers

Had a fun race with my best start ever, going from last row to place 9 after one lap.
I knew this was way above my level and after a few laps i was back to place 13/14/15 .
From that point it was just not making errors and get the car home in one piece for some points.
Some nice clean driving with Alex and Bill and the finish line just in time ( Thanx Bill  Wink)

Up to next week.

Sandor

ps. standing starts get a vote from me. I know it can be hard but that's also part of racing

Glad that's finished, now for Kyalami  Grin

Managed to have offs all on my own, had some racing with the usual suspects, then spent the rest of the race on my own.
Didn't see anyone for about two thirds of the race. Wondered if you'd all left and not told me  Sad
To sum up, well little better than tedious.
Congrats on your race Oily, you nearly got your first win. Bet you could almost taste the champers eh? Next time mate, next time.

That was a real good race, much better than I expected.

I had only raced the TVR once before & frankly I was crap in it, just couldn't get it to go around corners. So I spent a bit of time sorting it for this race & was quite surprised how close I was to the front. The race went really well & I don't think I've been in a race where the front 8 or 9 places changed so much. Got as high as 4th at one point but the faster guys recovering from mistakes demoted me to 7th at the end.

Martin, I was behind you when you had your little spin, I think you lost it on your own. I was quite close but am pretty sure I didn't touch you.

I would like to stay with standing starts. I always use the start countdown & don't rely on being able to see the start lights.

Congrats to Steve, Dan & Tinman

Cya next time

Aaaaaaargh! Would normally be very happy with sixth but to have led my first ever SROU race and throw it away all on my own is too much to handle!   censored

Had no real hope for this event to begin with but it somehow came together in qually and I managed to grab fifth. Got an ok start, catching a glimpse of some interesting orangey manoeuvres in the mirror and was up to fourth. Thought I'd be settling there as Dan, Steve and Bara were pulling away but it wasn't to be and I rounded the corner to see all three sort of strewn across the track if I remember rightly.

Really enjoyed seeing P1 on the pitboard but it wasn't long before SBG decided he wanted a slice of my somewhat gifted glory and was harrassing me from all angles. Actually felt quite comfortable but begun driving with my mirrors and the inevitable happened, I watched like I was sat on my sofa as he got it on the grass under braking, and in doing so left mine a split second too late and pirouetted calmly through 90 degrees, all on my lonesome, and politely handing over the lead.

Would have been ok but my lead foot wanted some of the action and having unsettled the rear under braking, I got the power down a fraction to early a few laps later, just enough to send me sideways and on to the grass for a second, losing me about 20 metres but another 6 places! The rollercoaster that is motorsport lol.

Had some great tussles with Geoffers and Martin (?) to get me back into sixth and I have to say, the standard of racing was fantastic from everyone I battled with, really close stuff and no sillyness. It seems each race seems to create more and more of this and its without a doubt what makes it for me.

Grats to the top four, all driving a seriously hot pace and to my team mate Tony for getting another green one home safely on a track/ car combo we thought was going to be a total disaster. Unlucky Tibs, not long til the wheel upgrade now!

Sorry you couldn't see the race out Bara, that is seriously hard luck and blatantly gifted me a place...I recommend BE Internet if you're stuck but perhaps you could wait a few more races  Grin

As for the standing starts, i've been taken out on numerous occasions and its the worst feeling when it happens to you, but to take them away would be a real dumbing down of my Thursday night fun   thumbdown

Cheers, seeya at Kyalami for some action in the Capp-ree Ghia.

Thought that the racing was great fun, and extremely close from 3rd to about 8th. Everybody had at least one hard luck story. With racing this close if you make one mistake the "pack" thunders by and you go from 3rd to 8th in the blink of an eye.
The start was awful for me. Got a great launch - straight into the back of Ginsters- who didn't seem to have moved. Was then rear-ended by my teamie (Martin) who had nowhere to go and no time to react. I then got going, only to be rear-ended by Oilseal a couple of corners later. Some laps later I came into a corner to find Bara stationary and had to take to the grass to avoid him (except he wasn't there really, he had discoed).
Luckily that seemed to get all the bad luck out of the way and I found a bit of pace. Then everybody else seemed to start having bad luck - Ginsters went off, Martin went off, Geoffers had nowhere to go when Martin went off, and so it went until I finished 3rd. I was delighted.
Congrats to Steve and Dan who were really the class of the field.
Great result for Team Oldie with 3rd, 5th and 10th.
My vote goes for keeping the standing starts. If the accident doesn't happen there it usually happens somewhere else under a rolling start anyway.-.so what the heck!.(adhering to Simon's non-swearing, non-starring policy)

Cheers

Sorry buddy, didn't realise it was you in front, I had the same issue, fast start but cars in front stopped!
I think it was whoever was in front of you that had the slow start!
Oh, well, thats racing!

Not my favourite car/track combination but I think that goes for many of us.  Had a reasonable start and my usual battles with W Tony for a couple of laps, a few laps with Tibs and Alex.  Most of the time it was with mooijekind11, we had an early battle for a few laps with Alex and Tibs, then a long spell in the final few laps.

I messed up and lost my place on the last lap to  mooijekind11   (I thought the race was 20 laps - it's my age, memories going) and roared over the finish line only to see too late we were still racing putting my self off line for T1. When I duly went off I had to let a load of over takers through before I could get back.  Roll Eyes  Never mind eh, you win some you loose some.  Grin
