Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 466s

Gerald (silver53) comes from impossibly far back into the first tyre chicane, taking out Dave Gymer (who fortunately doesn't sustain serious damage).

Gerald was suffering controller problems at the time (pedals acting in reverse), and spun off at the start of the first flying lap. He should really have done the discrete thing at the time and retired, but instead tried to carry on, nearly ruining Dave's race in the process, and coming close to repeating the error with Jamera on the next lap before retiring.

Whilst we're loathe to issue penalties against drivers who are unfortunate enough to suffer these sorts of problems, it is essential that a driver who is experiencing technical difficulties so severe that they are both likely to lead to an accident involving another car , and very unlikely to finish the race, retires.

Server replay time: 1231s

Zacari is coming up to lap [ZiP]Tyf; on the approach to the final corner complex, there is still a fairly large gap between them, but Tyf is very slow through the first chicane, missing the right apex completely, and Zacari, despite braking a little earlier than normal, suddenly finds himself closing on Tyf too fast to avoid him, running into the back of him and spinning him off the road.

Normally, a read ender would be a two place penalty, but there are two mitigating factors here. The first is that Zacari takes a voluntary drive through, albeit very much later in the race when his place was secure, and second, that Tyf was very much slower than other cars in that chicane. I am therefore reducing it to a zero place penalty.

  • Zacaripenalty — rear ending [ZiP]Tyf — 0 places lost

Server replay time: 2490s

Greg has been chasing Ginsters for most of the race, and the pair catch Paul968 in his Z3M in the complex of corners after the start line. Paul is able to let Ginsters through, and Greg tries to follow him through, but despite keeping a tight line through the corner, doesn't leave Paul enough room on the exit and there is some side contact.

Greg should have waited until he could see in his mirrors that Paul was clearly behind before he moved over - it would have cost him no extra time and would have avoided the contact.

No matter how keen you are to keep up with the car ahead, your first duty is to avoid crashing into the car alongside! Normally side contact is a two place penalty, but in this case it was light, and Greg does appear to have been trying to leave Paul room, so I've reduced it to just one place.

  • greg130 (Greg130)penalty — contact with Paul968 — 1 place lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

Can I join for practice and joy if I take a non scoring car? Providing there's space left, of course. With my comp working again I can't wait to get into action.

Sure, though you might want to consider the Seat in G2 rather than a G3 car as even the BMW is a bit slow compared to the bulk of the NGT cars and that's likely to create additional danger at the tyre chicanes.

I'm marginally relieved that I won't be able to make this one, despite that it'll see my slender NGT championship lead evapourate. Roll Eyes

Will be there after all. Be afraid, be very afraid. Shocked Cheesy

If there is space I may actually take the Seat anyway as I need some more Seat times to improve my Mega Monster rank

Hi Guys sorry to red car I knoked off at chicane but I had a big problem with my controls . Everything was great until the race started when I had the most amazing lag and the throttle and brake were back wards . I know I shoulsd have pulled out sooner but thought it would correct its self. Tried it in private practice same track and car as soon as I disconnected  and it works fine.Sorry again gerald

I decided not to race. I wouldn't be relaxed in competing as I would be afraid to put sbd out. And that's not fun. There are enough other races.  Smiley

Well, that was a bit 'different' lol! Grats to Dave for the win in N-GT. Shame there were only 15 or so drivers Sad.

You've all seen the last of me in the Bi-T now. That thing is just too hard to drive for the Endurance races. Also made a really st00pid mistake while pitting thinking I could make it with less fuel, which I couldn't in the end, so lost 8th and ended up a dissappointing 9th.  Undecided

I say all people that can should race no matter what league they're supposed to be driving in. I know I do! Cheesy. Driving with 15 or less players is more annoying than the occasional shunt by someone who's not competing for points! I actually realised just now I've always driven point scoring cars anyways! LOL! It's a game, who cares Cheesy!

Well what can I say?Huh??
That was the best heart thumping, sweaty palmed, seat of my pants race I've competed in since getting GTR.

Good Qualiifying time for me, 2nd in class I think, drove an absolutely full on commited race, some fantastic battles with Dave and Pops, though I did end up getting a stop go for cutting the track after a "small" incident (which I won't be reporting because it was just a racing incident) Still managed to take the GT3RS full race on the same tyres and come in 9th in field dominated by GT's. This race has done me the power of good because I had just about convinced myself that I couldn't compete :-)

To everyone that turned out tonight a very, very big THANK YOU

Well what a race, exahusted now.

Qualified in 3rd with a time some 2 secs of my PB, amazing what a bit of pressure can do.

Settled into the race nicely, good steady pace following Zac and SBG round, just waiting for a mistake or to see where I could overtake.  Enna is so hard for overtaking amongst evenly paced drivers, track of certain death.
Well SBG had a spin so I was up to 2nd and catching Zac fairly easily, obviously getting passed him was a different matter.  I was on a 1 stop strategy, didnt know that Zac was on a no stopper.  Thought I would push it to the limit fuel wise, wish I hadnt, on that extra lap I spun and lost 2nd to SBG.
We then pitted at the same time and I was behind him again on the exit.

We now had some fantastic racing over the next few laps, swapped places a couple of times, wow it was hairy stuff.
Finaly got past for keeps coming up to the death tyre chicane, reackon we were playing chicken aproaching it neck and neck, fortunatly we both survived and 2nd place was mine.
Still managed to have another spin on lap 32, wow my nerves were shot, could I bring it home.  Well only just, a well twitchy last lap with SBG about 6 secs behind.
What a race, look forward to the next one guys.

There does seem to be a large amount of people on holiday atm, understandably. Shame for Div 2 that the NGT turnout especially is so low.

Cheers chaps some great racing.

Had a good quali (half hour and few cars equalled plenty of good runs) within half a second of pb and just 3 tenths off zacari in pole. Race began and I started with a very conservative pace (my secret plan). This lasted just a couple of laps when I realised that zacari was pulling away and greg was catching me. I therefore had no choice but to drive nearer to my limits, this kept me 2 seconds ahead of greg but zac still pulled away, until I spun. Greg shot past, only to spin himself a couple of laps later. I resultantly beat him into pit stop where Lister mechanics gained me a slight gap before I exited the pits (how does that work?). Greg was clearly warming to the task by now and quickly closed me again. Knowing how difficult it is to pass here I did not panic but I reckoned without his nerveless approach to the second chicane where he passed me under braking once only to hit the wall on exit and then made it stick there a couples of laps later. I think I bottled it a bit but credit to Greg for audacious move and some good ding dong stuff. Delighted with my third and congrats to Greg and Zac.

Thanks to ngt boys and non point scorers for making passing safe and easy. Hardly any of the big shunts I expected.

I had a blast out there in a non-point scoring car (GT3 Cup). Hopefully I stayed out of everyone's way. It was fun and I got to see some close action between some of the GT and NGT classes. I was surprised that just 15 drivers made it, although on this track, that may be a blessing. Looking forward to round 4, in D1 and D2.

Ah that was me that was. I thought it was uncharacteristic for you to be trying such a boneheaded move - the control problem explains it. Not to worry, I was seething at the time because I thought my cunning plan - hard tyres and enough fuel to take me through without stopping - was shot to pieces, but I only actually lost 15 seconds or so and as it turned out that was good enough for the NGT win, despite a stupid, stupid, idiotic, I'm kicking myself now and I deserve a good hard slap spin off the tyres in the second tyre chicane on the very last lap with Tyf right behind me (although as it turns out I think he was actually a lap down!).
