Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 466s

Gerald (silver53) comes from impossibly far back into the first tyre chicane, taking out Dave Gymer (who fortunately doesn't sustain serious damage).

Gerald was suffering controller problems at the time (pedals acting in reverse), and spun off at the start of the first flying lap. He should really have done the discrete thing at the time and retired, but instead tried to carry on, nearly ruining Dave's race in the process, and coming close to repeating the error with Jamera on the next lap before retiring.

Whilst we're loathe to issue penalties against drivers who are unfortunate enough to suffer these sorts of problems, it is essential that a driver who is experiencing technical difficulties so severe that they are both likely to lead to an accident involving another car , and very unlikely to finish the race, retires.

Server replay time: 1231s

Zacari is coming up to lap [ZiP]Tyf; on the approach to the final corner complex, there is still a fairly large gap between them, but Tyf is very slow through the first chicane, missing the right apex completely, and Zacari, despite braking a little earlier than normal, suddenly finds himself closing on Tyf too fast to avoid him, running into the back of him and spinning him off the road.

Normally, a read ender would be a two place penalty, but there are two mitigating factors here. The first is that Zacari takes a voluntary drive through, albeit very much later in the race when his place was secure, and second, that Tyf was very much slower than other cars in that chicane. I am therefore reducing it to a zero place penalty.

  • Zacaripenalty — rear ending [ZiP]Tyf — 0 places lost

Server replay time: 2490s

Greg has been chasing Ginsters for most of the race, and the pair catch Paul968 in his Z3M in the complex of corners after the start line. Paul is able to let Ginsters through, and Greg tries to follow him through, but despite keeping a tight line through the corner, doesn't leave Paul enough room on the exit and there is some side contact.

Greg should have waited until he could see in his mirrors that Paul was clearly behind before he moved over - it would have cost him no extra time and would have avoided the contact.

No matter how keen you are to keep up with the car ahead, your first duty is to avoid crashing into the car alongside! Normally side contact is a two place penalty, but in this case it was light, and Greg does appear to have been trying to leave Paul room, so I've reduced it to just one place.

  • greg130 (Greg130)penalty — contact with Paul968 — 1 place lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

Gonna be missing this one as I am holiday which is a shame as I quite like this place.

Does any form of provisional request work here or is it just a no point scored situation?

Looking forward to it, probably the most dangerous track of the current season, should be interesting.

After tonight's trip in the Beamer round Enna I'm looking forward to this one.

Hopefully there'll be a full server this time too, seen as so many people end up hitting those chicanes!  Shocked Shocked Smiley

I'm very doubtful to fill in a gap for the Div 2 race. BMW at Enna is dangerously slow compared to the GT speeds and I hate the Seat.

I hope I didn't get in the way in the last race.  I was in the BMW and I think coming into the chicanes there were a couple of nervous moments with GT cars.  Thankfully almost always the GT's got to me in the slower sections, or I just lifted on the straights in an obvious way.  No-one's mentioned anything and I certainly didn't hit anyone / cause an accident.

Getting slightly off-topic but what'd happen penalty-wise if a driver from another division caused a crash?  Would the penalty cross over to their league?  Just thought I'd mention it before it happens (if it hasn't already).

Looks like I'm getting a lucky run on Sunday's at the moment, should be able to take part in this one.

After two 4th places, I'm hungry for that podium finish   Wink

Haha! I knew you wouldn't be able to resist that one!

We've been pretty close in the last few races, let's hope it's another good one at Enna!

I'm marginally relieved that I won't be able to make this one, despite that it'll see my slender NGT championship lead evapourate. Roll Eyes
