Fun but frustrating race.

Qualified 3rd which I was pleased with.  Cheesy

Race started OK, Busi was all over the place and then went off, (sorry to hear about your problems) and then I tried to keep up with Kerr, he was ever so slightly faster that me so I decided to drive consistant to preseve my rears as I knew that they would be a problem later on. He went off and I found myself in first. I had about 2.5 seconds lead of Jeff.
I knew I wasn't racing Jeff or Kerr behind him but I was hoping that I would be able keep a good pace so i could be in a good position to fight for the last podium spot. It didn't happen as I'd hoped.

We came up to lap Pete, at this time my rears were already going south, it was only around 20 Min's into the race, I thought mediums should have lasted for 40 Min's!! but no!!. Almost lost it going past Pete into the chicane and then span on the next lap. I rejoined in 6th and tried to catch I think It was TT in 5th but I could not make up any ground. After half an hour I'd had enough of the rear end sliding all over the place so I pitted to put on hards.

They were much better, I was instantly faster but knew I could only manage this pace for 10 Min's. Unfortunately a had a slip up and over cooked it. I got lapped by Ruskus but it was soon apparent that I was faster than him. He was holding me up, especially in the last sector where I seemed to be mighty! I found myself braking a couple of times to avoid hitting him. By the time he pitted my tyres had begun to fade. but i was still able to maintain a decent pace until around 40 Min's into the stint when the tyre just went horrible. I was very slow and lost 3 places (I think) on track. An hour into the stint with around 45 Min's to go I pitted.

I soon caught Dave who seemed to let me pass  Huh (Thanks?) and then my Team Mate Hal....He didn't let me pass  Grin I was much faster than him but his car just blew me away on the straights. I tapped  him in one corner spinning him (OOPS!)  Roll Eyes I waited to let him past fully expecting Dave to come steaming through. It Didn't happen, that must have been when Dave had his PC hiccup. Anyway I eventually got past H@l on the outside of the righthander before the chicane section.  Grin  Great fight mate!

and after that I just took it easy until the end of the race to finish in 4th.

The MC12 Is shocking on rear tyres, your OK for 15/20 Min's and then your just a door stop after that, it just seemed to be really bad on this track!   Huh   ...Still like driving it though   Grin

Grats to podium.

See ya next race

RM

Tyre wear and temperatures were very high here.

My rear mediums were too hot and heavily worn. Car was better on hard rears after stop.

Why was it so hot at 4AM?

Dave, if you start tinkering with fuel tanks: this is the only thing that gets Lister as close to the top, so think twice.  Undecided

What was your Lister using per lap? I was using 2.9L a lap (manual clutch). I also thought the Lister was the most fueleconomic car of the game, but I was disappointed to see the Viper, F550 and F575 use equal or even less a lap  Shocked.

I thought mediums should have lasted for 40 Min's!! but no!!.
Welcome to the world of Pirellis Tongue. The Dunlops are even worst  Shocked

I got lapped by Ruskus but it was soon apparent that I was faster than him. He was holding me up, especially in the last sector where I seemed to be mighty! I found myself braking a couple of times to avoid hitting him.

The reason why I didn't unlap yourself, is because I felt I was quicker in sector 1 and 2, and I thought I would get held up in those sectors. The MC12 was amazing quick through the last corner, where I lost 0,5s on basically every car Cheesy.

My fronts were around 27 I think and rears at 25 when I pitted in. This track is heavy on tyres, especially that last loooooong right hander.

Set your tyres up so they have a pressure of 200kpa during the race, that's the optimum pressure.

The night to day looked great, unfortunately was a bit to much for my system at the start. Had a few incidents due to bad lag and very jittery fps. Once cars spaced out a little it got better and i was able to keep it on the track all be it guessing where to brake lol.

Found myself climbing up as others had problems and offs and found a decent pace.  First stop went well and came out in 6th i think and quickly caught and passed H@ll,  then was catching RM and got passed him one lap before my final stop.

Went into pits in a good position but brought car to a stop and nothing!! pit board wouldnt appear, nothing!!!  Went backwards and forwards loads of times but nothing would happen. Didnt have enough fuel to go round again so i was stuck! sat there for a good 15-20 mins banging the table lol.

Was a pitty coz i think i would of kept up my run of 4th's.

Grats to winner and podium.

Lol, I think we drove side by side for more than half of the lap and there were several occasions like that in the race.  Smiley

There was one lap where we were side by side for most of the back section until that nasty little chicane where sense prevailed and one of us backed off. thumbup1

Tyre wear and temperatures were very high here.
My rear mediums were too hot and heavily worn. Car was better on hard rears after stop.

Think my rears never dipped under 230kpa pressure and front were about 220kpa, but wear was ok, so I ignored the high pressures as really tyre temps and pressures are meaningless compared to car feel and the lap times you can actually do. Sometime I think we all spend too long looking at tyre temperatures and pressures and forget 95% of driving is about the driver and nothing more. Smiley

Why was it so hot at 4AM?

From what Gizmo has said, GTR2 doesn't simulate temperature changes based on time of day and neither does the SRou weather generator.

Start of the race in the dark was pure terror as usual, I was completely lost with my braking points. After a while I got into a rhythm and had some great racing with sooty. Unfortunately he went off as I was about to pass him in Orelha. It was clean on my screen, but apparently the server decided there was contact and off into the wall he went, really sorry sooty!

After that I was again alone at the back, managed to bring the car home despite some engine concerns towards the end.

Yer was a good battle jpv just unlucky what happend relay, was going to carry on but had a puncture after smashing the wall.
My m8 lee aka rockstar81 joined the team aswell today he used to race a good while ago so hopefully he will stick around and get the numbers up in super endurance,
anyways again unlucky jpv no need to apologise you were faster than me today so deserved to be ahead just a shame we could not carry on the battle longer

Great race. Smiley

I really enjoyed racing with the 4am virtual start time, it offered quite a challenge and I hope to see more of the same in the future.

The race started ok for me but Zacari overtook me early on and Dave was getting closer soon after. I had a brief laps in concentration and I went into the Gravel at T1 allowing Dave to pass. Shame as we could have had a good Battle there. I was not close to any other cars for a while after that until the recovering Gazza caught up to me and again I lost consentration as he got close and I almost lost it. I just about kept the car from going to far off track but Gazza went straight past.

Soon after that I came in for my second stop and I managed to jump RM when he came in for his stop but it was not too long before he caught up to me.

and then my Team Mate Hal....He didn't let me pass Grin I was much faster than him but his car just blew me away on the straights.

Yes it was a nice battle RM and it was made very challenging by the blinding sun Smiley You were much faster than me so I felt a little bad about holding you up so much. I am not sure if you had a chance for battling for 3rd or not, sorry if you did. No worries about the tap. I had a look at the replay and my driving was very sloppy at that point what with the sun and the difficulty in consentrating so hard for so long whistling. I completely cut you off at one point Embarrassed, sorry mate. I did not leave you enough room when you tapped me, again, sorry. Then I managed to slow Ruskus down a little while getting up to speed, sorry to you as well mate Roll Eyes

RM let me get back passed and the race was on again. As he got close I went defensive but at one point I over did it with cautious braking and he sailed round the outside of me Shocked, nice move buddy Smiley. RM started to develop a lead but I got close to him after he let an overlapping car through. However he was much faster and I could not get the position back. Most enjoyable battle:).

Then 2 laps away from the end Psuedo caught me and was faster but a lap down. He was right on me all the way to the finish Smiley.

Shame about the problems had by some, other than that, one of my best races so far Cheesy.

Don't worry about holding anyone up H@l when fighting for position, sides, my chances of fighting for third were slim to zero even if I didn't have the problems I had. I just aint that good  Grin

Interesting bug in GTR2's replay handling - mine showed darkness even at the end of the race!
