Race of pure fustration for me.

Apologies to TT and Simon for the taps.  And sorry to anyone alse I might have pissed off.  Sorry    Embarrassed

Qualified first in the dry conditions.....cool  Grin

I knew I would be slow in the first part of the race as ME + MC12 + wet tyres = FAIL, so I let the first couple of cars behind me past, and tried to get a decent pace going but I failed, I was all over the place and after the first lap I was in 7th I after going off.  The rest of the stint was just as bad, but I steadily got a half decent pace going but still kept going off.

Pitted at the halfway mark and put on inters which were much better,  but then I came up on Simon and I could not get past, I over did it on a couple of occasions under braking but luckily simon was aware so i did not take him off.  Sorry bout that  Embarrassed.

After a while I just gave up trying and set out just to follow him when he pitted.  I was able to get a good pace up and made my way back up to 3rd when I had an off. This allowed Gazza to get back past.  I caught him and went off again after a get together with a another car  Angry The last time I caught him was at the final chicane section before the finish straight. we were lapping other cars so were were all going slow when my car just seem to jerk to the right onto the grass.  Huh No idea what happened as at the time I was just taking it easy so as not to hit another car.   Huh

Real shame as I had a good pace but just didnt have the luck to be able to capitalise on it.  After that I just coasted around all drive sapped out of me.  Sad

see ya at the next one.

RM

Sorry for the tap, RM.  Sad  I waited for you but you decided to go out anyway.  Wink
Edit: I tapped you, silly!  Cheesy  Sorry.  Embarrassed

It was a lucky thing to start raining in Q2 as I haven't done any "wet" laps here.  Undecided  So I had enough time to sort out what needs to be done. Didn't change much to the setup, put on hard wets and went out. Qualified 7th, I think and first few laps were a bit up and down. After the first pitstops and some errors I was 2nd, after Gazza. We were of equal pace and I decided to drive as far as the fuel will take me. I had to cool down the rears and managed to keep them grippy, despite high temps. After both Gazza and I pitted I was 2nd behind Busi - the gap was about 30 seconds!  Shocked  The chase was on and it was intense, the gap slowly melting but the actual overtake happened in the last third of the last lap! Pure luck, I must say, Busi got a bit frantic and we both lost it in the slow right hander. I got the car started first and got to the s/f line. Great driving, Busi, I wasn't sure I'd catch you on time.  Smiley

Thanks to all the drivers I lapped, you were all superb!  Kiss

Too bad Darren disconnected and grats to MJ's ISP to keep his line together for the whole race.  Cheesy

@Busi: I had hard wets, both stints. No complications with inters, etc.  Wink

I really couldn't believe the track was so wet for so long, as it wasn't raining anymore and I expected it to keep drying up for even putting slicks at the end of the race, but looks like it didn't Undecided

Same for me with the backmarkers, great job by everyone, it was really enjoyable to see such neat driving by all Smiley

Oh yeah....Doh!

I took a bit of grass when going around the outside of you and had no chance to brake for the corner.

Sorry to Darren, I definately remember swapping paint with you.

I had red mist for 80% of the race, I knew I could be faster than I was but I kept making silly mistakes.
So apologies to all.

grats to podium finishers: Gazza for the third spot and the lead in the championship for the ol' Team Pseudo  Grin  (I know it only race 1  Grin)

...at least I got the fastest lap. Not sure why its by almost 2 seconds though  Huh

That was a cracking race in the wet last night, really enjoyed it.

Turned up during qually with absolute zero practise as was busy all weekend. Literally did about half a lap of first lap out and it started to bucket it down with rain  Shocked So then i had the double whammy of re-familiarisation with the RSR at Magny and then a very wet Magny  Tongue
I gave up on any chance of higher qually spot and just tried to quickly put together a wet setup for the race. I almost succeeded but as it turned out, the car was still a little too stiff to push too hard in the apalling conditions.
The race itself was a brilliant all action event, embroiled in a 5 car fight for about the first half hour, then becoming a 3 way fight with API and JPSB for about another 20mins or so, with the 3 of us having various incidents about the track. I found i could brake a heck of a lot later than JPS who seemed to be tippy-toeing around a lot of corners and i had a fair share of 'moments' behind his car trying to avoid his fezza rear end. It also cost me a few places as follow on cars took advantage of my enforced lack of momentum  taz
On the 50 odd minute mark i dived into the pits and took on Inters for only my 2nd time ever as assumed correctly that the track was drying out (and hoping it wouldnt rain again). They felt quite odd for the first 3 laps or so as i could push really well on most corners but then get to somewhere like the Imola chicane where i touched the brakes lightly but the car ploughed straight on  Shocked ...standing water?
But they were definitely the right choice as they got better and better and i was getting better traction than some GT1 cars out of the corners. This led to me being put in a spin in a GT1 sandwich out of 180 corner exit straight, dont know if one of them touched me but the car just whipped off into a rapid 360 onto the grass and into the barrier.  Sad I thought that was race over as i thought the rear wing had snapped off but other than being very slidey for next few corners it appeared okay  wacko
Unfortunately that effectively ruined my charge back to catch JPS who i seemed to be taking upto 10secs a lap out of his time at that late point in the race.
Think i finished 5th GT2 so not bad considering conditions and lack of setup/praccy.
Great race!, the weather really spices it up, just like in the real world of racing  thumbup1

Congratulations to TT on his cracking win in GT1, i got to witness him and Busi fight it to the line on their final lap  clap
Hats off to Snasky as well in his porker...that baby was flying ! Cool

What a total nightmare of a race - I should've enjoyed that but I did two stupid things which cost me a podium.

Firstly, a big sorry to Andy Eaves, who I was following into the first turn. I was just getting back on the throttle when he was still slowing and brushed the back of him - thought he might hold it but the 911 did it's party trick and spun lazily off. I pulled over a few corners later and let a couple of cars by but I couldn't see any sign up you so I carried on.

Then, as the track started to dry my soft wets were melting. There appeared to be a properly dry line almost everywhere so I gambled on soft slick fronts and medium slick rears - big mistake. There was indeed enough of a dry line around 95% of the track, but the other 5% was utterly trecherous and I was losing 10+ seconds a lap. I stuck it out for 10 or 15 minutes hoping that the try would dry further but it didn't and eventually I had no choice to pit for intermediates.

Pity I hadn't taken them at the previous stop because they were the perfect tyres for the conditions - had I taken them I would probably have finished 2nd or 3rd. Roll Eyes To cap it all I took too much fuel in the first stop and finished with nearly half a tank left. Roll Eyes

EDIT: oh, and my TeamSpeak connection dropped out before my first stop which means I couldn't talk over my tyre choices with my team mates. I was half expecting to get "Connection Lost" at some point...

Thanks Dave, I was a bit slower than I should have been. When you slowed and pulled over you let me by, I was the one who flashed to say thanks Smiley (well I think it was you?)

My fps was low, but I had no stutters, and it increased as the game went on. My main problem was my graffic's settings looked bad, was hard to see some apex's, mainly turn one.

Yeah slicks didnt work, I tired the same.

Edit: I passed you many laps later, when you must have been on slicks and a lap down.  Wink

Wow, that was a baptism of fire for my first endurance race with SRou Smiley

Hadn't had a lot of practice at Magny-Cours, especially in the wet, so as the rain came down in qualifying I was scrambling to set the car up for a wet race as was everyone else it seems. With a flooded and dark track for the race, I've never raced in worse conditions but, amazingly, the first 20-30mins of racing was excellent!! I was in a pack of GT2's with, I think, MJ, Ade, JPS and API and it was bumper to bumper stuff.

Pitted halfway for inters, which judging from others drivers posts were the correct choice, but tiredness was starting to set in and so were the dumb mistakes. Apologies to anyone I inconvenienced with my excursions Sad

Still, very pleased that I actually completed the race in those conditions, albeit dog slow, without damaging my car. Hopefully be a bit more competitive at Silverstone.

3rd i am sure Grin Grin Grin Great race had no problems other then MMc beeing 2,5sec a lap faster, wow what a pace.Bad luck Gingsters you deserved a podium.Started on soft wets and changed to soft/hard wets.Second part of the race was avoiding GT cars, coming on and off the track, had no pressure behind and no chance of racing MMc.Good stuff this changeable wheather.

Erm, think I might have done ok there :'( A dose of 1fps did for me.

That was a shame buddy.
I was marginally slower than you even in my GT1 so let you through as I didn't want to ruin your race!
I was having great fun trying to follow you until you just dissappeared!

cool race  Grin really enjoyed the challenge and I prefer the gt2 with less power (cop out  Roll Eyes hehe)

turned up half way thru quali after problems re-installing car and track packs (all my fault of course  Undecided) and half way thru my out lap the clouds came over and by the last chicane is was soaked. So no dry time! Practised in the rain for the last 10 mins of quail thinking race would be wet.

Start was flooded and the thunder caught me out as my bass was turned right up Cheesy lol.

Got a good start and worked my way up from 22nd. Settled in behind Eves for a while after a few spins, I think we all had various offs! Pitted half-way out with my soft wet rears at 140 degrees for the last 15 laps and forgot to put on hard wets. Pitted again two laps later to put on the hard wets and they still ran at 120 degrees until the end of the race, maybe i need inters?? don't know if any other RSR drivers can shed light on the best tyre choice there?

Basically stayed 3rd in class after Eves put on slicks, shame cos him and I were similar pace. Pretty happy with the result and sorry to any lapping GT1s, my driving was a bit eratic sometimes (not on purpose!).... Embarrassed

Grats to class winners, I’m quite chuffed with 3rd! Thought MJ wud hassle me more but he got caught up in the battle so I got away! Hehe nice one all

Immensely difficult race Shocked

I had to take it very easy for allot of the race as my skill in the rain is still a bit poor. I ended up racing against GT2's for most of the race. Grin

I did have a small battle with nsfast. Nice driving mate, not easy to get side by side in those conditions Smiley

Sorry to MJ for slowing you down when you let me pass (again). Sad

Good result for Team Pseudo Cheesy The front runners were so much faster than me that I was a lap down by the end of the race. I was just happy I got to the end.
