Out of interest, what rear wing did most of you run? I was on 8 but the morgans left me for dead on the straights and i was thinking i should have had even more wing overall as car felt a bit too loose around the wooded sector fast turns  Huh

I was running 2-9 wing on the rear because I believe Brands needs high downforce.

I believe I was getting much better runs out of corners using my slow in, fast out philosophy, than most and that was the reason I was going faster down the straights. It wasn't the back straight where it was most noticable for me, it was Paddock and Clearways that I noticed that I simply got much better speed out of the corners allowing me to close up.

Of course the Morgan is pretty powerful, so I would expect it to have good straight line speed anyway. I found last night the car that I had most trouble getting close to on the straight was Busi's TVR. The Ferraris were slowest on the straights with the 911s and Mosler being inbetween.

I don't believe straight line speed is a big advantage at Brands, it's all about exit speed, which is why I'm quite happy to brake early to get a better run out.

yeah think your right there Simon, that brake early fast exit was working really well for me at Graham hill Bend (learnt that off Sean Edwards on a track day) and i was steaming past or catching people each time there. It also worked at Stirlings bend when i could get the brake point right.
I was getting mostly annilated at Pilgrims drop and the Brabham straight though, especially by the Morgan, but like you mention could be that they were getting better traction/pace out of the corners..though thats normally a Porsche trait ! Even DG's Fezza was killing me down Pilgrims, hence me wondering what wing people were running.
Still, i didnt feel like i was 'upto running speed' last night and took a while to get some consistency/pace back. I think my race setup needs further tweaking too despite showing good pace offline.

Thank gawd the Java update occured during qually and not the race.

"Even"? What are you saying?! laugh Tongue

I was running the opposite setup - 2/5 or 2/6 I think, as low as I could get it at the rear without it becoming hopelessly tail happy, because with any more it just had a major push. Turned out to be rather handy for nipping past people. Grin
