First picture:

Weird seeing the British GT with no Porsches at all. Huh

Weather held off - only cars I didn't see was the Formula Ford; when the VWs came out and there were diesels puffing out massive clouds of black smoke I went home just in time for the WTCC qualifying (and to mow the lawn!).

Now that's a nice car. Cool
Would've looked better in black though.

That colour does nothing for that car.

I've seen those exhausts on a Nova before!

enjoy !

I agree Dave, very weird not having a single porker in the GT racing  Sad There was a brand new 997 cup car running that was doing very well (barring bad luck) but they pulled out over a disagreement about penalty ballasts (or something similar) as did two other teams i think.

All part of the same disagreement about the Ginetta G50 and how it's a pretty blatant slap in the face for the homologation rules, I think.

Mind you, could be worse - could have bl****y KTM X-Bows running round in GT4! Roll Eyes

That's a nice set Dave, good work. Were you using your Sigma f/2.8 50-150mm?

nice pics DG  Cool Make mine look a bit amateurish ..which is what they are !  Embarrassed

Do you use any image enhancing software and/or cropping for those pics?

How do you get the image so sharp?

I was using a Nikon D70 with VR55-200 lens but i am a total newbie to DSLR

Not real ones.

Yep. I'm mostly pleased with it although it did start to struggle round the back of the circuit amongst the trees when the sun went in.

I was using a Nikon D70 with VR55-200 lens but i am a total newbie to DSLR

D70 with - as Pops surmises - a 50-150 f/2.8. VR is no substitute for lots of glass. Cheesy Loaded into Photoshop CS/3, cropped, and sharpened a little where needed. I only sharpen for web images - for prints I leave them alone, they always come out looking good. I did a lot of dashing around the circuit at a fast walking pace to get plenty of variety too - it's amazing how much difference 10 yards can make to the quality of the results!

Bear in mind also that the 67 pictures in the gallery represent a the cream of the crop - I shot nearly 4 2GB flash cards, each with about 370 pictures on, and ruthlessly discarded (well, archived onto DVD) the vast majority.

Another useful hint - shoot in raw (NEF) format, not JPG - there's far better preservation of colour depth, which makes a big difference when enhancing pictures rather than just printing them.

Looks like there were a lot of retirements in the Sunday race, and not much more of a crowd. Sad Nice pic of the lightly smoking Lambo. laugh :'(

i found the 200mm lens a bit too OTT for a lot of the track, especially around the back in the woods. The cars were so quick and close up that many of my 'action' shots came out with a perfectly focused track and trees but a blurred car  Sad Roll Eyes

The sun also decided to disapear once we had trudged through the woods to the back so light was not a premium. I still cant believe they took away dingle dell for that slightly dull left turn.  Sad

Im pleased with some of the shots but had to bin a lot too. Sunlight (or not) makes a heck of a difference to the quality of the pics i noticed. Still thats only the third time i have used that lens so still learning...slowly  Grin
