Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 42s

Ade runs into Tibs at race start.

Tibs was very slow off the line and Ade reacted but hit the clutch pedal instead of the brake. (Clutches, who needs em)only minimal contact was made.

Awareness, caution and expect the unexpected off the start line....ALWAYS.

  • Ade (Ade_B)penalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 86s

Martin had an incident round the left hander and his car ended up sideways on the track. Ade was following and had little chance to see the incident and even less chance of seeing Martin's stranded car and clips the front of it quite heavily.

I must point out once again that great caution and enhanced awareness must be shown when approaching incidents, especially in the early stages where the cars are heavily bunched.

  • Ade (Ade_B)caution — Care approaching incidents
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 255s

Dan passes Tibs approaching the righthander but only manages to draw level before the turn in point.
Dan turns in normally, not realising Tibs is still there and contact is made sending both cars off track.

Was a bit disapointed to be taken out and the driver didn't even flinch, just drove on.  Undecided  Degrades GTL for me, it seems a bit more laks than GTR2

Standards shouldn't differ and thats dissapointing to hear. Please report it to improve things for all.

I was right behind you Tom and waited until you moved to get moving. Next thing I saw was bits flying up at the front of your car.

Didn't want to mention any names, but in this case I'll make an exception: I didn't mean you, Spadowsky.  Smiley  I'm sorry I mentioned it at all, forgot that it comes out much bigger than it really is.  Roll Eyes  Priscilla Presley was so ..... yummy in Naked gun.  tt1   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5i2DrSLDGCU&feature=related

No nothing you did Bara, I got a bit of lag just at that moment & before I knew it I was on the grass. Had slow fps for about half a lap afterwards then all well again!

Were you running any Anti-Virus during the race? I had that happen during a race before when it was updating itself.

I turn off all non essential AV stuff. I use Norton, which I have heard from other sources is a bit intrusive for online gaming. I will probably change when my subscription runs out. I have tried rrunning with AV totally turned off & it doesn't seem to make any difference, I still get occasional lag problems. I'm sure it is AV related but I can't seem to find a way of stopping it.

The race that could have been...
Won here last season and really seemed to have clicked with the circuit but was dissappointed to be only 11th on the grid Sad

Made a great start and was way ahead of the cars following, unfortunately I came round the first lefthander and the backend slowly came round on me Tongue
Couldn't hold it and was left in the middle of the track. By the time I had engaged my brain.... a very slow process! Grin I got T boned by someone else.
Really sorry to whoever it was? hope it didn't spoil your race!?

Rejoined in last place, and made it back up to 7th in the end!
Fantastic close battle with I think it was Ade, Syd, and someone else? 4 of us bumper to bumper for ages, really good fun! Smiley

Where do these aliens get 1.18's from? it's a mistery!?

Grats all, respect to the podium!

M.

Good race that, bit of a change to the usual wing mirror swapping but thanks to a sweet setup from Mr. Minton (sorry dude lol), others choosing trickier cars and some offs I somehow managed to grab second so well chuffed.

Off the start I was victim to Jeff's Top Gun skills and a Pantera fly-by, leaving me with no choice but to trundle along behind the leading pair and snap at their heels occasionally while they snapped at each others. Luckily they did some synchronised understeering at St Marys, I managed to avoid the sympathy off and grabbed the lead.

Unfortunately I didn't learn the lesson properly and did the same a few laps later rejoining right alongside Bara just in time for the double right. Thought I'd lost the position straight away but off the grass I seemed to have some momentum into the braking zone so put up a gesture of a fight. It wasn't enough and Bara snatched it>. Can't remember what happened next but I found myself 10 or so secs behind him with 15 laps to go and a decent buffer behind me.

Had a good go at catching Bara through the traffic but didn't quite have the legs and with a cut track in the bank was beginning to think I'd rather some points than a stop/go or bent beemer. Last 2-3 laps took it veeeeery easy at St Marys towards the end and through the final chicane (convinced all race that fat rear arch was going to clip it!).

Not sure if it's because there' wasn't much speed differential other than on the brakes or if I just lost my bottle a bit but I found lapping was tricky at times despite everyone driving well. The pressure just to bring it home in one piece made it fun for me but the replay won't be winning any awards.

Championship's hotting up and despite some poor races on my part I'm loving these national tracks with the enduros thrown in to spice it up a little.

Cheers all/ organising people - off to Suzuka we go  Grin

great race  Grin congrats to podium
my car would go better if half way in you don't get cramp in your thottle foot and have to slow/stop but hey that's racing  Angry
the other thing is to remember not to let the people you are racing with by thinking they are lapping 17->20th  stupid

I seem to have the curse of being behind the guy who is behind the non starter
Dunno what Spanner saw, but I didn't see Assasino at all. Just saw Spanner make
what appeared to be a slow and wobbly start. I slowed of course, actually brushed
bumpers very slightly, so I could not have gone any faster. Lost 2 places with the
slow start, was pushed gently by Mr BLunder into T1, but it "seemed" everyone
behaved well, and there were no incidents at the front half of the grid at least.

Followed Sandor for a couple of laps, passed when he became "uncertain" at St Mary's
Right! now I can set about trying to keep up with/catch Phil... Came into the double
right of Woodcote having spent the past couple of laps in early braking/don't ram anyone
mode, and went in WAY too deep/turned too late and went CRUMP! into the fence.
arghhh. Spent the next 27 laps in damage limitation mode, with rubbish front grip
in right handers, so that's most of the track then... was diabolically slow into
Madgwick and got passed by Dan a couple of times as he fell off/repassed people
Passed Sandor again as he fell off at Woodcote, scraped a lucky 6th.

Oh, one little thing for Da Management
The grid at Gooodwood seemed very tight, considering there
were a couple of dodgy starters we were lucky there were
no pile ups.

I remember when I used to do GPL leagues we had alernate grids
with wider/longer spacing, how hard is it to do that with GTL?
I remember I even made my own grid for Mosport and Silverstone
it was just changing some numbers in a file, can't remember details.

Is this an option? we would have to have UKGTL specific track
files of course, so may not be worth the bother, but in GPL it was the server
who set the grid spacing, not the clients, so only the server had to have
the modified file.

Thoughts?

Yeah, sorry guys another rubbish start again Roll Eyes I'll need to check the replay but cant remember much of the start but lost two places than a couple of people went off at St Marys which meant i ended up in 5th and with the gap behind growing a bit i was looking at a good result Roll Eyes  Saw the smoke from Geoffers but by that stage i'd already commited to the corner then only saw him late. Might be worth dropping the special effects i think.

Rejoined in about 14th and worked my way through the capri's then got behind Syd who was defending rather stoutly but his lack of speed through turn 1 meant i had nowhere to go dropping back again then managed catch up to Ade and TT and then tried to out brake Ade even though i was already past into the corner before the final chicane which meant I hit the barriers breaking the front splitter making it nigh-on-impossible just getting through the first few corners. But by that stage it had all gone downhill so decided to jump ship.

Almost no practice in the car or track meant my driving was rubbish, but it was just great to have a break from nappies be able to spin a few laps.

Cheers everyone, congrats to all finishers.
