Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 49s

Pribeiro gets an excellent start and fairly gains a couple of places into T1. He then brakes far later than those around, who are taking the necessary careful approach, clatters into the back of Phil Gilliland and spins him.

TT does all he can, but has no chance of avoiding Phil and unluckily hits him.

Server replay time: 53s

Pribeiro then proceeds to clatter into the back of Martin Mason midway through T1. As with the earlier incident, Martin is spun around.

PR did mention he was suffering with internet problems in forums but makes no mention of such problems in his incident report. This would explain his actions here, as these incidents are certainly out of character for him, and all of us. I'm pretty sure this was the underlying cause of these incidents and serves as a reminder to us all to quit at the first sign of connection problems.

Server replay time: 53s

Most avoid the trouble caused into T1 by PR (or his internet connection), however Syd Drake and Wiltshire Tony do make contact with other cars. They both certainly make efforts to avoid trouble but maybe could have done more.

As the blame lies elsewhere, penalties are not warrented but I feel a plea to show even more care is fair.

Server replay time: 141s

Wilstshire Tony spins coming into the chicane and ends up facing the traffic just off the right side of the traffic. Despite the fact he could see cars arriving at high speed, he attempts a very risky spin manoeuvre, from grass to middle of the track. Luckily the first upon the scene avoid him but Sandor is taken by surprise and hits him.

Whilst, arguably, the contact could have been avoided, hence the maximum penalty will not be given, the rejoin was certainly dangerous. Tony should have waited until all had passed or used the grass, so similar dangerous rejoins must be discouraged.

Server replay time: 346s

Dave (GardO) runs wide into T1 of the complex and Matt (phspok), in his nimble Elan, resultantly closes right up coming out of the complex. However, he barely gets his bonnet level with the rear of Dave's Cobra so a passing attempt is really not on and Dave had every right to defend the corner. I'm not sure if Matt was attempting a pass but he does rather unncessarily run into the back of Dave and spins him off.

To give Matt his dues, it was he who reported this incident and, because Dave has entered no views on this incident, I presume he wants no penalty applied.

Server replay time: 412s

Dave (GardoO) catches back up to Matt (phspok) by the time they reach the chicane. Dave gets a far better exit and seems suprised how quickly he gains on the slower Elan, in his Cobra. He does try to avoid the back of Matt but just clips his flank and rather unluckily sends Matt off.

Matt does not want a penalty applied and Dave stops and waits for him after making the mistake, which should be commended. Therefore no penalty is necessary.

I CANNOT get the hang of this damn track! I spend more time on the grass and upside down than I do on the damn grey stuff! I have a feeling Thruxton is going to join the very short list of tracks that I somehow NEVER LEARN. I know every corner and nuance of the Nordschleife but Thruxton is eluding me. ARGHH!

Great vid Oily Smiley That looks terrifying, especially around Church, which about sums up the Cobra around here. Best of high 27's so far by the way. I can see why they raised the kerbs on the chicane Wink

Nice vid Oily  Cool Chicane, what chicane?  Wink

I, just like you Spadowski, am struggling to get any of the three car choices round this track, let alone for a time. I did a 1:34 in the Elan once, my next best lap so far was miles off that! (Somebody get the violin out)

First class find Oily, loved the lean on those old Vauxhalls.  What I want to know is why for such a fast track no-one has smoothed out some of the bumps, it's madness in any of the cars!

Just in the 26s with the Cobra, but boy do you have to hang on.  Grin

The two fast corners are kinda blind, you have to throw the car in and hope you've turned in at the right time.  After a while you DO begin to spot the correct turn in.  Then you hit a bump....... Shocked  surrender

That was awesome. Gems like that are why I love YouTube. Any idea what it's from? I recognise Simon Taylor's voice. There's some awesome stuff in the related videos as well. Highly recommend the 1964 Cadwell Park video.

I've yet to make it around a lap without flying off the damn track. The problem is by the time I realise I'm in trouble it's already too late. Won't be getting much practice today either with GTR Evo out. Aston at the Nordschleife is calling.

I'm not sure what meeting that race was at but I attended the Easter Monday F2 meeting at Thruxton in 1972 or 73 when they ran a similar race with the standard 2.3 Firenzas, not the HS versions. I don't think one car completed the race without a dent in it & they auctioned the cars off after the race! I seem to remember that Henri Pescarolo won, but maybe wrong on that.

wow, fantstic vid oily, those were the days, not that i'm old enough lol, but i've had my fair share of the older cars like that.

never had the joy of owning a firenza though,i did have a shovit(chevette) HS with the same 2.3ltr engine and 5spd box,god that was a fun little car, bought a few shocks to people at traffic lights i can tell you.

memories, fantastic thing to have.

Hehehe thought guys you might appreciate that, Youtube is just an Aladdin's cave these days!

Before my time unfortunately but I have seen plenty of Gerry Marshall footage (one of my faves) and Baby Bertha was at Silverstone a few years back doing a demo run - absolutely insane.

Well up for a high speed blast now, funny how the track grows on ya! Gonna jump on later as I'm nowhere near the 26's that's for sure...

I'll be there tonight Tony to take everyone out with my lack of any sort of control in these cars on this circuit. I'm getting that deja-vu feeling from the 911's at Brands Hatch here. It's going to hurt.

Count me in! Smiley
Have been determined to race in a Cobra for months and finally I have an opportunity.
Finding it so hard to be consistent though. 5 good'ish laps may be and then the usual spin etc etc. yawn yawn.
It's gonna be tough!

Best of high 27's so far...

Just in the 26s with the Cobra

You chaps both deserve the podium for those times alone!

I actually quite like the track but I feel like a complete noob with the Cobra in the braking zones, I don't ever remember it being THAT difficult to drive. Unless your setups completely change the handling my hat is well and truly off. I can't get anywhere near the limit braking no matter how straight the car is when I start, the bumps don't help but I'm clearly lacking whatever technique it is that gets it around a lap lol. Are you super soft on the brakes or something lads - I'm just curious!?
