Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 265s

Busi is leading the pace lap and engages his limiter 13 seconds before reaching the start line. Whilst this is less time than ideal, it's well within acceptable limits, and indeed the pack behind him down to Michael Boylan in 12th has no problem forming up and engaging their limiters. The "20 second rule" is a rule of thumb - the polesitter is not expected to know exactly where 20 seconds before the start line is.

Jan Duijs in 13th is where things start to go wrong. He zooms up behind Michael and is unable to slow down in time to avoid him, instead ducking to the left and coming to a virtual standstill before engaging his limiter and then rejoining the queue.

Prof in 14th has left a generous gap and has no trouble slowing to join the snake, but grinds almost to a halt as the result of Jan's sudden slowing.

Psuedo, in 15th, engages his limiter before Prof has done so, and then also has to slow dramatically. Because JPS in 16th can see Psuedo's limiter on, he begins to close up, only to suddenly find the Viper almost stationary, and JPS then has to jam on his anchors, and gets touched from behind by Evert in 17th.

Evert then engages his limiter whilst almost stopped and Ted behind engages his before rather inevitably driving into the back of Evert's now stopped car at almost full limiter speed. PRibeiro engages his limiter in response to Ted and then has to go left to avoid him.

Dave Gymer almost gets stopped in time but lightly touches the back of Ted's car, whilst Pete Allnut dives right and Spanner left in avoidance, the latter engaging his limiter whilst grinding to a halt.

Martin, in 23rd sees the chaos ahead and slows right down; McFids and Legzy do likewise but API cannot see the danger until it's too late and runs into Legzy, for which he did a voluntary drive through. Finally, Mr BMW comes rushing up the back of the pack and has to swerve left rather dramatically to avoid everyone.

The principle cause was Jan's over-eager attempt to close up on the pack. Secondary to this were the drivers who engaged their limiters prematurely - namely Psuedo, Evert, and Spanner - sending the wrong message to drivers behind and exacerbating the concertina effect.

Drivers are reminded that because the pit limiter light is visible in GTR2, they should not attempt to close right up on the car in front until they have visual confirmation that it has engaged its limiter, and should not engage their own until safely positioned in the "snake".

Evert's Vertigo is following the Elise of JPS into the final corner and runs into the back of him. It's not a passing attempt; neither car goes off and no position is gained, and the Elise did lock a wheel, suggesting that its braking was not 'normal'. This was, however, at the end of the first flying lap, at a notoriously tricky corner, and Evert had no reason to be very close to the Elise in this corner this early in the race when the Vertigo would not have been able to pass the faster Elise down the straight.

Based on the nature of the incident I'm therefore assessing a 2 place penalty rather than the normal 3 for a first lap rear ender.

Server replay time: 1794s

After recovering from an off, Evert is passed by JPS. Evert takes T10 much quicker than JPS, and looks to the inside into turn 11, but fails to either get alongside or back out in time, and there is contact, putting JPS off the track. Evert keeps the place, and JPS loses two as a result.

This was ill-judged rather than egregious, but because Evert gained and JPS lost through it I'm applying the full penalty.

In fact one driver was so aggresive I wondered if he thought it was a sprint race. I was bumped from behind a few times and he kept trying to lunge up the inside. It worked eventually as it pushed me of into the gravel.

This is more or less what happened to me, not so bad when it is three different drivers, but the same driver at three different times Shocked
Otherwise fun race.

You mean our little touch Prof at 809( you were blinking lights afterwards)? If yes really sorry about that but little taps are inevitable in my opinion.

No problem Jan. Lights were for driver coming through behind me as I got back up to speed.

My point was that we are all capable of the odd 'little touch' but I did not want to gain a place by doing so when I touched Ribeiro so waited as many others do. Others are reporting that they lost position as a result of (unintentional) contact that was not their fault. I would not report an incident unless I thought it intentional. Over the last few weeks I have had several multi-lap battles both leading and chasing where there has been no contact (JPS, Ted, Picnic amongst them), this is why I race UKGTR. Last night one person waited for me having made contact with me, others did not - just an observation, no insinuation towards any individual.

Very enjoyable racing last night until a few laps of madness at the very end lost me 4 places.

Wife still hadn't dropped the baby so hopped on the server without much prior practice. The good thing about these large grids here at SRou is that there is someone on a par with you to race with. Last night it was Martin and there was nothing between us. He was close on my tail for the entire 1st stint and after a mistake early in the second stint he got past and now I was chasing him - the hunter had become the hunted!! I was right on his tail but Martin drove very consistently to deny the pass. All very exciting stuff!

With 2 laps to go, a stream of front runners lapped me (without any blue flags as per the entire race, which
was very annoying), and I accidentally let JPS through, which broke my concentration. With my rhythm gone, I tumbled back through the field finishing just behind Psuedo in the end Sad

Congrats to the podium - got to admire the consistency - my best lap wasn't a million miles off the pace but it's keeping that level up for 80mins that's the trick.

Shame it didn't last to the end!?
Better make sure you do NO practice for the next one so you can be as slow as me again!  Grin

Was a bit scared of Purds secret plans but eventually I went by when he was still in the pits and with 5 minutes remaining I was confident I can hold him behind. He must have run into some traffic that was it.  Smiley

lol, well it was an interesting race for me! Wink

had a good quali where i was chuffed with 3rd! start of the race went well, but tactics (and pace  Roll Eyes) were lacking. I did the whole race on med/med tyres and went for a loooong 1st stint with the 70L fuel tank taking me to lap 44 before pitting for a splash n dash.

This tactic seemed fine on paper and up until half way was still 'okay.' Even though I ran 1st for a while I knew it was 'provisional' and was hoping for 3rd but TT slipped thru the net mainly due to a big spin into the gravel on my 'in' lap and a solid pace from him....my only mistake of the whole race (apart from my tactics) and this might have saved me third Lips Sealed. But with the tyre wear at 34 over the finish line I doubt 3rd was ever realistically a possibility.

I'm guessing most treated it like 2 sprint races pitting half way....hmmm, sounds like a good idea.... Roll Eyes

17th  Sad NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I've suffered from this rule too Hal. It's the way the results are exported which screws it up. As you were 7th and the last person on the lead lap, in a real race even with running out of fuel you would have still finished 7th. But in UKGTR, you stupidly lose a whole lap.

Of the ISI-based sims, only rFactor gets this right. Roll Eyes Every time a new sim comes out I beg them to correctly record all laps and every time they disappoint me. Sad

I did really well to hold 7th until the last lap, I really drove better than usual and had constant pressure, so I was really gutted to end up 17th.

Oh well.

The higher the cost of the mistake, the less likely I am to make that mistake again. Roll Eyes

I may have contributed to the problems at the end of the warm up lap as I approached a bit too fast, sorry Undecided Also sorry to Prof and Linus27 in the final stages of the race. Me, RM and Gazza were having a battle with Gazza closing fast and I ended up affecting the close battle between Prof and Linus as I was overlapping.

Another fine GT3 race, well done podiums and Busi for Team Psuedo victory Grin

An enjoyable race for me if a bit quiet.

Seemed to be running behind Ted early on then found Dave behind me after he dropped back from clashing with Pseudo, but managed to keep the gap up until he pitted . Kept going passing most people while they were in the pits, but decided to stop when the tyres were going off and i was loosing time around the lap. I really need to sort the pit strategy board out as i should have just stuck a bit more in as a safety margin but i misread it so didnt, but i changed the tyres and eventually coming out infront of Dave but couldnt hold him off on cold tyres on the end of the straight he got by. Soon after i spent the rest of the race trying to work out i i was going to make it to the end on one tank and tried to conserve as much as i could but not loose too much time allowing Ted through. Thankfully the chequred flag came out with half a lap to go but still, it was a bit close at the end, ending with 0.7L left.
