Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 52s

Everyone makes a clean start but braking and turning into T1 Ossie taps TinMan's rear bumper, sending him into a spin, which very fortunately every misses, except Mauro Silva who retires with suspension damage. TinMan also retires with suspension damage that lap.

Although the touch was very light and a locked wheel is apparent in the replay showing Ossie was trying to avoid contact, these first corner incidents have to be viewed very seriously given the pileups that can occur, so 2 places lost.

The 23 Drake Racing Porsche wasn't included in the new pack Syd  Sad

I only included cars that I was informed of by the owners as per the instructions given for this new pack.

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4715.0

Sorry if you missed it....but ensure you re-submit it for inclusion for the next pack.

Welcome to the club , Jimmer ............. and good luck on your first race.

Mind you its my first race in these porkas so which one is best around here? Think I'll be around the 1.41/42 mark in the lighter one. At least we are all stuck in the same boat/911 Wink.

Are there 2 differnent versions of this magnificent car ?
Did some laps and managed a 1.42 but i haven't noticed that there is a lighter/ heavier version.

The Gray Martini Porsche is somewhat lighter (987 kg vs 1010 kg) and has somewhat more power (just a couple of kW).
The Porsche is also more expensive in the game (2k vs 1k)...

btw. thx for the setup... never driven the Porsche  Shocked

So do we think we might be in danger of this race not taking place with the current lobby problems?  Sad

Is there a specific reason for this timeframe ?
Local time for me is 23.30 and with my wake-up call of 06.00 it's a bit too late  yawn

Yeah, it's just a common time that most rebels seem to be online together for whatever reason

I would guess the reason for some of us is "we're married" Sad. At about 10:30 our chores are completed & the Mrs has fallen asleep & so we get the party started  Grin.

To be fair, I can do a bit earlier usually on the Wednesday night & have bumped into others on-line, but about 10:30pm people just seem to turn up. Maybe that's when Blunder comes on? Someone to roar past at every turn  Wink

Start of the new sprint season is here....at last. Smiley

It may have come to your notice, but after a lot of deliberation, Myself and SBG have decided NOT to introduce the much talked about 'Punt Rule'. Whilst it obviously has it's merits in endevouring to reduce the number/severity of first lap incidents, it was in the main not very well received by the majority of regulars so we will not introduce it.

There is a down side to this however. The number/severity of first lap incidents still have to be addressed and illiminated as much as possible. But without the above rule we are totally reliant on incident reports that you submit....and unfortunately the vast majority of incidents tend to go unreported.

Therefore we must ask for your co-operation and please submit an incident report....no matter how minor or trivial it seems. The reports are not there so we can hand out penalties and 'punish' people, they are there so we can highlight and hopefully help illiminate errors etc....so don't be frightened to submit one if you see anything amiss.

SBG and myself have decided to monitor the starts and first laps closely.....not with the intention of submitting third party reports (unless we spot something that obviously requires action) and try our best to offer help and advice to anybody that may seem to be struggling with the start procedures. But, If last seasons trend continues and we still suffer from start procedure problems, we will have no alternative but to switch to rolling starts....and we don't want that.

Last season was a great seasons racing here....only marred by the number of start/first lap incidents. We are hoping this season can be better still...and I'm confident it will be too.

If the punt rule was the self imposed drive thru after an incident; I have no problem with that. I thought it was the suggestion of rolling starts that met the most opposition?
