Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 510s

Busi looses his car and ends up on the grass facing back the way he came. He tries to turn the car on the narrow piece of grass while most of the field passes, but is still pointing the wrong way when finally he thinks the track is clear and drives on to spin the car straight but Prof appears and has nowhere to go but straight into Busi.

Given the poor weather conditions, the narrowness of the track edge, the lag Busi reports and that Prof wants no penalty applied, just a racing incident really. Busi did his best to rejoin cleanly but was caught out by Prof suddenly appearing. We all just have to try to get ours cars pointing the right way down the track as much as we can before rejoining rather than spinning the car on track.

  • Busiadvice — Bad rejoin - try to rejoin facing the right direction

No idea what happened on last lap but whatever occurred I think PR was more than a worthy winner. Bugger.

That was tough!! Real test of concerntration!!

Struggled a bit in qualy but managed a decent lap right at the end which gave me 5th so was quite happy.

When i saw the race start was flooded i just put on soft wets all round and put the wing up a bit but was unsure on how much coz i thought i might dry out, after panicking a bit i realised there was 7 secs left before the race so just hit race button!! So i dont actually know what rear wing i started with lol.

Race started ok and just concerntrated on keeping it on the road which payed off as others fell off, soon found myself in 2nd but Simon was catching. Held him off for a bit but he finally got passed but then he went straight on at turn 1 i think and i was back in 2nd. He soon caught me and passed again so i thought right you have a 3rd here if you just keep it on the black stuff. Luckerly my soft wets lasted great right up to my pitstop but was unsure what to put on at the stop. Gambled on hard wet rears and soft wet fronts which seemed to work ok although i had to keep cooling the fronts down with about 15 mins to go. I did put too much fuel in at the stop which in hindsight might of meant i could of sneaked 2nd as only 6 secs behind Simon at the end coz of his accident, but very very happy with a 3rd.  Smiley Smiley

Grats to Freq, amazing pace in wet  Shocked and Simon.
Grats to GT2 podium.

P.S GT2's were excellent tonight in very difficult conditions.

At the start I was in 1st gear, and then thought maybe 2nd would be better as it was so wet and the Lister has soo much torque, TT quickly proved my point Grin

Was thinking the same thing and stuck it into 2nd, but even that was too much.  Angry  I think I spinned over the track and Psuedo (?) hit me - sorry for that. Was caught by surprise, I thought 2nd's gonna grip nicely. Rookish.  censored

That was hard but rewarding - sort of. Started on soft wets all round and in the rain figured I could go the full distance without any fuel when I stopped, so I stayed out as long as I could, cooling my rears off line and occaisionally missing Variante Alta as a result. Roll Eyes Cheesy

Had no idea what to change to when I came in so picked hard wets as I was worried about aquaplaning - I think that was a mistake and I should've taken intermediates all round as I still had to cool the rears.

Had the odd run off and one silly spin when I tried to hold a tight line coming out of Tosa and just gave it too much welly on the wet stuff, spinning off into the barrier and breaking the front a bit.

4th in class isn't bad given that I never really had any pace in the car - I presume Mark McClean picked up a DQ after the finish and not on the last lap?

Was twiddling my thumbs come Sunday night so thought I'd go for a quick spin out with the GTR lads for a change as it was a track I knew. Wasn't expecting the drizzle though Smiley

Haven't seen anything quite like that before but seeing the forecast, I cranked up the wing, softened everything off and gave it a bash. Was a very cool experience, loved the lightning, having to find the puddles and manage spray, just awesome stuff.

Spent the first few laps just trying to stay in the train and not completely embarrass myself by beaching it and somehow the rhythm just continued. Outbraked myself a few times as the wets wore out but other than tapping Prof (sorry mate!) was pleased not to have ever turned my 550 around. Think I would have done ok if it hadn't have been for the three stop/ go's! Was nice to interrupt FreQ's perfect run of fastest laps at least though.

Was a baptism of fire but loved every minute of it skating about the place, in fact I nearly screwed the fuel strategy totally the time flew so fast.

Cheers chaps, grats FreQ, SBG and everyone else who brought it home in one piece!  Grin

Started out good ended crap. Sad
Was behind PR after SBG spun but was just of his pace to make a move. Made a few mistakes and had sBG for company this made me concentrate a bit more and managed to put a few good laps in before my stop.
Was sure it was going to start drying so went for inters but it never happened and spent the second stint slipping and sliding all over the place.
Didnt realize i was going so slow until Mark M came flying past me as if i was driving backwards!!

Nevermind. Roll Eyes

Cheers

Is there a way to practice with different track/ambient temperatures when offline? Some file I have to edit maybe?

My offline practice always seems to be set at about 20c (wet or dry), I set my car up for under those conditions & the tyres are fine. Yet we raced on-line here at Imola at about 7c & Valencia at over 30c (where my tries/oil/water cooked).

Cheers

Yep...you can practice the 'real world' weather offline too, using the 'weather.txt' file that usually come with the replay download package is the easiest way....but you can edit it in notepad to suit your needs better if required. Just ensure when you have done any editing etc that you make the filr 'READ ONLY' in the properties.
You will need to copy and paste this file into the folder C:/GTR/User Data/Log Dedicated (or equivalent place on your install)
You will then need to run your dedicated server on your own machine...and set it up for the track/times etc you want. Ensure you change the 'weather' drop down to 'changable' and then just run your game as normal....but instead of going online through the 'internet' go to your 'Local Network' and the game you started in your dedi server, with the weather file active.

hope you can follow that

If enough people care I don't have any objections to making the "Generate Weather" link used by the moderators publicly accessible, with the caveat that of course it generates new random weather each hit so won't tell you what weather you'll actually get for the event.

Real Weather.....Rules!! Grin

Tough going, but hey, it dosn't it get any more interesting than that.
If one has a decent graphics card and the settings are high, it is just stunning and atmospheric Cool

I had a great race, and a 6th in GT2 and 11th overall is ok under the circumstanes.
