Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

After encountering pit crew problems on his second required stop, Prof was forced to drive through the pits and therefore did not make his scheduled stop. Unfortunately, caught up in a close chase with the driver ahead, he then forgot to re-schedule his second stop and completed the race having only taken one of the mandatory stops.
This is an unfortunate incident caused primarily by an occasional 'glitch' in the GTR2 pitting procedures.
As there is no way of saying how many places he could have gained/lost through the pit stops, unfortunately the exclusion from this race must stand, however I am adding no additional penalty points due to the unusual circumstances.

  • Prof — Failure to take mandatory pit stop — excluded

Aye...I didn't hit the wall that hard thou  Roll Eyes...(guess who's on brewing and sweeping duties next race Wink laugh)

qually was ok...4/10ths off my pb..but managed 6th.

Followed RM and H@L in the BMW's and after last nights praccy, I knew I would have no probs sailing passed them on the straight....if I could be close enough off the last bend...so thought I would just play it calm for a few laps till tyres were up etc before making a move....Had TT's Vertigo hitching a ride in my boot a few times  Kiss  but there was no way he could pass me on the apexes (not for the want of trying) and I just breezed away down the straights.
Then approaching the final hairpin lap 2 or 3 I think, I decided to close up a bit on H@L and set myself up for the pass down the main straight....I closed up alright Shocked....It looked like he had come to a virtual standstill and I had to slam on hard and swerve to miss him....right into a wall...(stupid place to leave a wall imo)

Anyway...enjoyed some battles at the back with a few vertigo's and JPS's elise...few hairy moments...but we all survived. Good stuff.

Grats to RM on the win  clap great effort in the beamer....grats to rest of podium too...

next time.

Never ever let the revs go into red at the straights. Every second it's in red, your engine dies a little inside
I didn't know that whistling I hit max almost every gear change

Great race with JPS. Some good close laps until I assume his 1st pit stop (I'm guessing you pitted early?), then it was a case of trying to keep the gap as large as possible. I pitted, JPS got ahead till I saw he pitted about 3 laps later. I still wasn't sure at that point if it was your 1st or 2nd stop. I had my 2nd stop with about 10 mins to go & got out the pits about seven seconds behind you! I tried to hard to make it up to quickly & span twice on that out lap   cursing allowing you what I assumed was an unassailable lead.

Was relieved to see you in the pits on my 2nd last lap. Assumed it was your 2nd stop, unlucky on the fuel front, but great racing for 130mins!!!

Well done to all who lasted to the end.

I'm knackered now.

Didn't have much luck on quali, had 7th time at the end, though I decided to finish my race setup and up... the quali.  Wink Race is long and I can win or lose positions based on my race setup. Seems like I was lucky. Was braking so late that I thought I had the speed bug for a time.  Shocked  Everybody was faster on accelerating and by the time we were on the next corner I was half a second behind.  Sad  I remember when I chased RM I just changed into 6th when he started braking.  Grin  As the only chance to get by was on braking I had some very close moments, had to swerve, fully lock, etc.

Had full tank on start meds in front and I think me and Prof were the last to pit the first time. Quite alone on the second stint and decided to change fronts to soft only on second pit-stop. Had to manualy change that and put fuel to 0. Forgot to leave rears on, though.  Angry  So I came out just behind RM, set to chase and promptly went into sand.  Angry Angry Angry  That was about 20 minutes 'till finish. Slowly closed the gap and got on his tail literally on the last lap. Made a mistake at braking into 1st corner, and RM went into the sand. Sorry, wasn't sure which line to take, there was still room on the inner side but while deciding you were already braking. BAM!  Sad  Waited as we had enough time to the third. After RM passed I set to chase again, halfheartedly this time, feeling the guilt and happy at the same time for him to be able to go on. At the last corner I wasn't sure if we had contact when you went into the sand again, so...  You deserve the win, as you were very patient and fair when we had all those close laps.  thumbup1

Sorry to Prof - we touched while I was lapping and you went into the sand. Not necessary - I was lapping you, was alongside, on the inner side of the corner. You would lose less time if you let me pass before that corner.  Undecided   Not flaming - just a friendly advise.  Smiley
That contact was very friendly, Psuedo. I can slap you on the (_._) only during the race.  Kiss

Enjoyable race. The half full glass is pleased with eighth place. The half empty one sees third from last of the finishers - much more my usual form. Couldn't catch Ted at the end and had just enough time in hand to stay ahead of a rapidly catching Pseudo.

Thanks to Pseudo for waiting although there was really no need especially the second time.

TrueTom, I did not get the blue flag or auditory warning that you were lapping so thought we were racing for position. Probably better to lap on the nice long straight that followed the corner where you were in a blind spot. It is the duty of the person lapping to do it safely. Not flaming - just friendly advice  laugh No harm done really.

Well done to podium and especially Picnic for 3rd place.

Well that was a great race overall. Although I came first, I dont feel like I won that race, which is a real shame as the last lap was an anti-climax...what with the visit to the wall and all.  Undecided

Set a PB in quali to get 5th place. Had a good start and got past my teammate H@l quite quickly, the top 3 pulled out a gap quickly from the start and I set about chasing them, they were all scrapping so I was able to close the gap,  minton made a mistake letting me by and just after this TT close the gap and tried to get past.

...It must have took him 15 mins at least  Grin he was so much better under braking it was stupid, your right H@l we were having to brake so much earlier than everone else, hopefully the next track wont have big stops like this one  Roll Eyes

We swapped places a few of times but he made one stick on the lap I went into the pits for my first stop.

From then on I wasnt that close to anyone so just tried to drive consistantly.

I took second place when FreQ's pc crashed,   Sad  with TT in first 53 seconds up the road yet to make his last stop. Closed the gap to 47 secs when he pitted and came past him just as he was getting up to speed out of the pit lane, he made a mistake which gave me some breathing room.  he caught me with a couple of laps to go where we had a get together. that's where the race ended really he let me by but he got past me on the next corner, i tried to see if I could get him on the pit straight but my car wouldnt turn in and I drifted wide into the sand.  Angry

Situation was abit dangerous really with me having to brake so early and with the vertigos ability brake virtually on the corner, I did try to leave some room on both sides but I got a bit out of shape when I put the brakes on si I might have drifted a bit  Huh

TT slowed right down so we kinda both drifted accross the line, not the way I wanted to cross the line but ill take it  Undecided

Hopefully I'll get a proper win at some point, really enjoying the GT3's this season!!  Grin

Roll on the next race !

That was really enjoyable - very pleased to have got to the finish, maintaining a fairly consistent pace right to the end.

There was some good racing in the early stages with a group of 3 or 4 cars, before the field started to string itself out. I got a bit of help early on when the 2 cars I was following (Prof/Psuedo) had a bit of a tangle and I was able to sail through the middle which was nice, but after that things got a bit lonley.

Thank you to JPS for your help letting me lap you (and relap you after I fell off the first time Embarrassed), you were very patient as my underpowered car struggled on the straights.  The last part of the race was a case of trying to keep a few seconds between myself and Prof - I was able to do this, but it required every ounce of my sapping concentration.

Also loved the transition from afternoon to dusk - first time I've seen this in GTR2, very atmospheric.

Must restrict fluid intake before the next race (or get a catheter fitted)  Cool

What was all that talk about the storm in China? Developed a setup, siutable for dry and wet. A compromise has slowed me down a bit as I had more wing than I would have in dry race.  Roll Eyes

@RM: I don't want a win if it's not as clear as tear (or is it gold?  Wink ). You earned it. There's more to winning in a friendly community than pushy driving comming first over the big line.  Smiley

Despite DG's sabotages  Tongue Vert is still a very enjoyable car, even if it is the slowest on acceleration and straights. Braking so much later than others was scary. Suzuka should show this differecies even more.  Undecided

I did however seem to be braking earlier than most in some of the corners and this caught a few people out, sorry Psuedo and sorry Dave. Not sure what happened at that last one Dave, I would have waited but Im not sure if it was my fault or not. I slowed down a little to wait as I could not catch the guy in front and we were clear of the guy behind us but you seemed to have more problems. Sad

We were braking very differently in different corners - some I was much better and others you had the advantage. My tyres had just reached wear 10 and I was having to try and save fuel after my first stop turned out to be about 2 laps too early - didn't take a splash at the second stop and it looked like the right move putting back into a fight with Michael Boylan, but 15 minutes from the end it was obvious that I wasn't going to make it. After you dive bombed me into 7 I thought I could get you back on the exit of 9/10 but you broke about 20 metres ahead of where I expected Shocked and I had to throw it off in avoidance (got a cut warning for my troubles too! Roll Eyes ).

As it happens you were bound to get the place anyway as I was starting to splutter - the last drop of fuel ran out the very moment I crossed the line, having crawled round the final lap desperately trying to stroke it home for at least 6th. Annoying that as if I'd stopped 2 or 3 laps later I'd have been fine and finished 5th, which would've been enough for the Shark's to keep the lead in the team championship.

Enjoyed watching the sun go down - very atmospheric with the sky turning that dark blue shade of evening. Cool

Quite enjoyed that, had been away for the weekend and got back 20 mins before the race off and decided to watch the first few laps of the F1 race rather than practice  Embarrassed Actually quite glad I did as having spent almost 2 hours in the real car before this my back was giving me quite some grief. No practice and no real setup I was happy to qualify above my teammates other than the alien one Wink

Race was then pretty consistent, I decided to run a long first stint so only one stop for fuel was required. As the race went on and I re-acquainted myself with the circuit I got a little quicker and after my second stop found I had managed to jump Madd and was 3rd. Sadly Evert blew his engine just in front of me, bit reminiscent of Kimi's effort Wink Trouble was whole track for me was covered for the run up to the hairpin, I missed my braking point and MR was through. Although initially I really struggled to keep the gap around 1-2 secs eventually I got close again and the pressure, and I guess MR saving engine health, led to a small mistake and I was back through. Happily keeping the 3rd until the end.

Back luck Freq, well done to everyone who made it to the end. Hard work these but often rewarding at the end. I still can't believe that after 2+ hours racing the gaps can still be in the single second bracket, but they often are Smiley
