iRacing have announced that the public will finally be able to get in now on the 26th....I wonder if there will be anyone left who wants to join Wink?

Here's hoping iRacing get a good influx of new talent for us to race against.

Yes I saw that. I don't really understand what it means. No one in the real world has any clue about iRacing so I don't know who it is they think they are suddenly opening it up for. Roll Eyes

And they are?

This game is not advertised anywhere and not in the shops, how will anyone else know about it?

I think it's a big hoohah about a very small event.

You do work for a commercial company? Just wondered, because I can't imagine any company NOT making a hoo-hah about such a thing  Roll Eyes

I noticed that Autocar magazine gave the game a mini review this week. I can't recall the exact words but they said the cars were very realistic. They rated the game as 4.5 out of 5 and said it was hardcore sim racers only.  Not sure if it will add to interest but only time will tell

Its what they are opening their doors too that slightly worries me :'( For the races I've been involved in, the standards haven't been great so far, my major dissapointment with iR, and I fail to see how this will help.

Hows that " we must have leagues petition" going Paul? Smiley

Simon's caught the despondency over this game that I had last night, probably because I dispatched him in the 21:15 race just like his brother the race before

Having spent most of the day in the skippy at VIR I've improved no end. Not only did I do 4 laps in the 14's during this last race I've now had 3 consecutive races (i.e. 42 laps) without a single off  Shocked

Mind you the matching at this last race was a bit wayward I reckon. All the qual times were 14's or better. Until this race faster than my PB. Ave iRating was almost 1900 too where I'm bobbling along at 1500 or less. So 12th to 6th was quite satisfying even if I only over took cars that were collecting incident points.

It's supposed to be like that Pete, some races you'll be at the front against slower drivers, some at the back against much faster drivers and some in the middle, it's designed to give a range of experiences.

Me!!    Wink
Maybe, I'm still undecided. Although I heard they don't have changeable weather yet? If so, I should hurry hurry before the rain comes  Grin

Ovals don't interest me at all, and I'm a bit worried as to connection speed all the way to the US. If they would get EU servers and it seemed likely they'd release more "real" tracks, especially from outside the US, I'd give it a try.

Can you race the Oval cars on road tracks at all? I really liked Nascar 2002/2003, but I only did Watkins, Sears and addon tracks.

I sort of appreciate that Pops it's just makes a bit of a mockery of friends lists when we're still kept apart  Undecided

They've had one off season and I think one on season race with Legends cars at road courses, but they're not exactly NASCAR cars. But with time I would expect some road courses for oval cars.

I was on the BETA testing team..
The GAME is way too expensive, and you will find that the learning curve is a bit like GPL....
IMO forget the hype.. its crap.. rF and GPL are still way better and loads cheaper to use..
Still.., if you have a wad of cash to blow , and believe the crap (positive hype) posted about this GAME
then be my guest.. I still have an account with iR, but I very much doubt that Ill be tacking up the option
to carry on with it.

If your idea of fun is racing a Pontiac Solstace or Legends car for a couple of seasons, even though you OWN
the game then more fool you.

By the way I'm thinking of developing a sim based on Trabant racing that if you pay me enough, you get to have a faster car..
any takers?
