Moderator's Report

There was a major incident during the pace lap which affected a significant proportion of the field. Unfortunately, no server replay was available from this event, and none of the client replays show the pace lap, so all I can do is once again emphasise how important it is to maintain a steady pace and a reasonable gap to the car in front, and be observant about what's going on ahead of the car you're following.

Server replay time: 770s

Picnic has picked up the tow from Greg down the runway and pulls out to attempt a pass into turn 2. Unfortunately, he locks a wheel and starts to run wide just as Greg turns in; the is some slight contact and Picnic goes off, rejoining behind Greg.

This is a fifty-fifty really because Greg could have turned in slightly later, or slowed down a little more, and Picnic could've either avoided locking a wheel, or not gone in quite so hot.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 866s

Picnic has had a great run out of T1 and drafts up and past Greg130. As they approach the braking area for T2, Picnic squeezes over to the left, and as he does so, Greg hits a bump and they make contact, Picnic being put off the track.

The narrowing of the track as they leave the runway area seems to have misled Picnic as to how much room he had left for Greg, and there isn't enough margin for Greg to react to the slight movement of the car as it hits the bump.

Server replay time: 1279s

Popabawa has just been passed by Tom Cooper on the runway. Tom runs wide in Turn 3, and Popabawa thinks he's going to go off, but Tom pulls it back onto the track and there is some light contact. Popabawa then takes the position.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1500s

Ginsters has been following Don1 (wobble) for several corners, and pulls out on the run to turn 4, staying to the inside under braking. Don1 turns in earlier than Ginsters expected and there is contact, Don getting shovelled off the road.

Ginsters was not attempting or intending a pass, and should therefore not have been so close without a "Plan B". Never stick your nose into a gap if you don't intend to put the rest of your car there shortly afterwards.

In mitigation, Ginsters is clearly shown in the replay with a locked wheel as he tries to back out of the situation.

Server replay time: 1532s

Ginsters gets his braking disasterously wrong on the run down to turn 6 and collects poor Oilseal.

Looking forward to this one tonight, one of my favourite tracks  Smiley.

Qualifying's gonna be key, not easy to pass here.

LOL. I thought the opposite. This is one of the best overtaking circuits on the calendar. Lots of fast straights into 90 degree corners. Loads of run off mostly, very good vision to see people attempting moves and no tyres sitting in the middle of the track Smiley. It's all about getting the run on the corner before and passing down the straight.

The biggest thing I've seen wrong with people's races at Anderstorp is forgetting to brake early on lap 1 (me included) at the end of the main straight. Seen it more times than anywhere I reckon, people just going straight into the kitty litter cause that straight is long enough to take any of the heat you generated from the warmup lap in the brakes back out again.

Haha! That's why you are at the top end of the table Shark! I probably shouldn't comment on things I know nothing about, i.e. overtaking!  Wink

My comments were based on racing against the AI, overtaking seemed much trickier here than other circuits, I found it much more difficult to get a decent run out of the corners. I'm not too slow round Anderstorp either. Maybe it's a mid-pack thing...

 Cool

BTW, saw your new 911 car skins. Like them. Very stylish. Nice and simple they look good, not too much clutter and a nice clear design which is distinctive.

Any chance you wanna be a top bloke and create a new Team Shark logo as the one I've been using on the Team Shark cars is rubbish?

Might join in for this one if there is room. Gave the 360 a quick try around here yesterday and found it quite predictable for a change.

Maybe if hardware holds out, you'll all be seeing a rather 'distinctive' car on the track for an N-GT race. A fun race should be a good hint, hehe! Cheesy

Yeh, maybe it will be back in the last race of the season or so. But it's really so hard to drive and I'm not getting any better at making a good setup for it or I'm driving it harder, hehe! You're welcome to give it a try though Wink It's fast on the straight(s)! Tongue

I'll do some test runs now and see which one of the 'add on' N-GT's is quickest for me! Maybe that will give a surprise for this evening Cheesy!

I'll think about it.... NO!  Grin

Can't wait to see what you come up with instead, I take it you aren't considering the 360 or the GT3?

The Morgan I found surprisingly well mannered around Ander. It's bouncy wooden leaf spring suspension lets it down in the last left before the final long right hander though no matter how much linseed oil or lavender scented Pledge you apply to them!

I'm GT3'ing it tonight but not looking forward to it much. A 1:32 is the best I can do and thats hardly consistently. I seem to find it hard to be consistent here and will be just trying to finish without too many mistakes I think!

Not looking forward to this one myself. Even with some recent practice still find this track hard and need 100% concentration all the way round, have to be so accurate at every corner.. I'am with PaulW on this one, just going to try to bring it home.
Wish me luck.
Don.
