Moderator's Report

There was a major incident during the pace lap which affected a significant proportion of the field. Unfortunately, no server replay was available from this event, and none of the client replays show the pace lap, so all I can do is once again emphasise how important it is to maintain a steady pace and a reasonable gap to the car in front, and be observant about what's going on ahead of the car you're following.

Server replay time: 770s

Picnic has picked up the tow from Greg down the runway and pulls out to attempt a pass into turn 2. Unfortunately, he locks a wheel and starts to run wide just as Greg turns in; the is some slight contact and Picnic goes off, rejoining behind Greg.

This is a fifty-fifty really because Greg could have turned in slightly later, or slowed down a little more, and Picnic could've either avoided locking a wheel, or not gone in quite so hot.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 866s

Picnic has had a great run out of T1 and drafts up and past Greg130. As they approach the braking area for T2, Picnic squeezes over to the left, and as he does so, Greg hits a bump and they make contact, Picnic being put off the track.

The narrowing of the track as they leave the runway area seems to have misled Picnic as to how much room he had left for Greg, and there isn't enough margin for Greg to react to the slight movement of the car as it hits the bump.

Server replay time: 1279s

Popabawa has just been passed by Tom Cooper on the runway. Tom runs wide in Turn 3, and Popabawa thinks he's going to go off, but Tom pulls it back onto the track and there is some light contact. Popabawa then takes the position.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1500s

Ginsters has been following Don1 (wobble) for several corners, and pulls out on the run to turn 4, staying to the inside under braking. Don1 turns in earlier than Ginsters expected and there is contact, Don getting shovelled off the road.

Ginsters was not attempting or intending a pass, and should therefore not have been so close without a "Plan B". Never stick your nose into a gap if you don't intend to put the rest of your car there shortly afterwards.

In mitigation, Ginsters is clearly shown in the replay with a locked wheel as he tries to back out of the situation.

Server replay time: 1532s

Ginsters gets his braking disasterously wrong on the run down to turn 6 and collects poor Oilseal.

My luck ran out tonight. Began well until someone, bernie I think, was struck by 1fps on straight and in rush to avoid his stationary car I went onto to the grass. Then coming through field I was involved in a couple incidents that I was at least partly responsible for and will no doubt be fairly punished. Sorry to those I buggered up.

The Morgan I found surprisingly well mannered around Ander. It's bouncy wooden leaf spring suspension lets it down in the last left before the final long right hander though no matter how much linseed oil or lavender scented Pledge you apply to them!

You must have found just the right combination of pledge and lynseed oil. Congrats on your 2nd place.  Smiley

Really enjoyed that, although it was a bit tense with TYF pushing me all the way. Qualified on a race setup and was pleased with 11th on the grid. Worked my way up to 4th, although I didn't actually pass anyone in anger. There were a lot of retirements unfortunately. Someone had the 1 fps bug near the start, and I think Paul968 had framerate problems again.

Good morale booster for me to actually finish with a consistant drive, no offs this time. Now I just need to stop rubbernecking when people go off in front of me and I'll finish a few more.  Smiley

I got rear ended in the formation lap pile up, resulting in a bloody rear tyre puncture. Had to limp round to the pits and by the time I got out on the track I only got 1 clear lap before I was being lapped by the leaders :-( Still I drove like a complete lunatic and made up places, finally finishing 11th I believe so fairly pleased with that.

Qualified in 2nd, not bad, I had been fiddling with setup all evening and finally I found something I was happy with that felt driveable and not too shabby on pace. Felt confident for a definate podium as my race pace was not much short of qually pace.

As usual Matjaz pulled away slowly but surely from start (last part of pace lap was a little slow? wondered if you'd forgotten where right hand pedal was Wink). I was pulling away from Bernie reasonably quickly, but he soon dissapeared from behind me to be replaced by Paul H. He caught me suprisingly quickly belying his qualifying time and he sat on my tail for about 10 mins as I tried to make sure he didn't get my slip stream with some interesting lines down the main straight Grin. However, it started to become clear though that Paul was finding it hard to find anywhere he felt confident about going for an outbrake maneover even though he was clearly faster than me.

Eventually Paul made a mistake into the corner at the end of the main straight locking all 4 wheels by the looks of the smoke in my mirrors. That gave me a nice gap of about 13 seconds which went up a bit a couple of laps later to 15, 16 seconds, I'm guessing when Paul lost it again?? and was replaced by PaulW.

Phew I thought I can just go fairly easy to finish. Nope. I did exactly what Paul H did before me with about 7 mins to go? and locked them all up after as-here had let me past on the main straight, off I went into the sand. Thank god it's such a big run off as I hit nothing and manage to get out of the sand suprisingly easily and end up about 4 or 5 secs ahead of PaulW. Gheeesh! I nearly threw away my first NGT Sprint win, but managed to hang on pulling away a little towards the end.

The speed of everyone was very impressive. Good race.

Qualifying - disastrous. Frame rate said 28 when it felt more like 8. Not sure what this means but it was almost undriveable at times. Managed 4th on the grid, but I've had low 30s offline so was a bit disappointed.

Race part 1 - Excellent. Followed Bernie for a few laps, trying hard to settle in gradually after the 1st lap mishaps recently. Then he froze mid straight, I ran right through him and was luckily OK, and I was 3rd. Chased down Simon and was soon right behind. We then had another of our battles, with me looking everywhere but with no joy. Simon looked a little ragged at times but always kept it on the road, so there was no way past. This went on for quite a while until on the approach to t2 I changed down one too many gears and spun into the gravel.

Race part 2 - Over-ambitious.  Rejoined ok with Simon long gone but my brain was still thinking chase. Tried too hard, went off and lost the place to Paul W. Then tried a bit too hard to catch him and lost another place to Mike. Had several laps chasing Mike and got very close - too close in the end because I got caught out under braking and taps his rear, which he survived but sent me wide off track. Got back on, aagramn passed me but let me back in front next straight (?) and then I lost it at T1. At this point I'd had enough and quit.

Really enjoyed the first half, but I have to agree with whoever said its hard to overtake. There is nowhere if the driver ahead makes no big mistakes, partly because the long staright comes after 2 corners you cannot commit hard to and have to wait for the car in front to go(especially the hairpin). Fed up again that I got too greedy, but I'm there for the racing more than points.

Sorry to Mike for the tap, but without commiting in some way it would have been a procession.

Well a mixed race.
Again qualified well below my pb, really dont know whats going on here.
All was going well, gradually picking up places as guys dropped out.
Then disaster, for which I feel dreadful about.  Having a duel for a couple of laps with one of the chaps, on the second lap(of duel) we are neck and neck down the fast straight, I decide to let him thro and brake slightly early, at this point the car hits a bumb and lurches to the right a little, nudging the porsche and knocking him off.  End of race for porsche driver, really really sorry mate, there was nothing I could do about it.  If there was anything I could have done to avoid the accident I would have.
