Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 933s

cb95amc has been following Tom Cooper for a while, and closes in on the runway whilst they lap smiler. Tom brakes for turn 2 and AMC rear ends him, sending Tom spinning into the gravel.

In mitigation, Tom brakes a good 20m earlier than he did on previous laps, probably because he further right than normal, and because he was positioned further right than normal - almost in the middle of the track - AMC has nowhere to go.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1913s

JonM is trying to disposess Smoothy of 4th place on the last lap as they reach turn 4. Smoothy is aiming for a late apex, and as a result leaves the door open just wide enough for Jon to squeeze the front half of his car into. They bump door handles mid corner and Jon gets through as Smoothy has to get out of the throttle to avoid running onto the marbles.

Earlier in the race I'd have given Jon a penalty for the contact, but on the last lap I think Smoothy could and should have closed the door more firmly.

  • JonM_ukwarning — contact with Smoothy

No yours sounds like a simple crash. The 1 fps is completely different.

Not to worry, we all know the game's problems and we have to live with it, although doesn't stop us being annoyed when great racing is spoiled by buggy software. Can't say I haven't had me monies worth with GTR and it wont stop me playing it (only GTL and rFactor will do that).

Had a splitting headache all night (still have now in fact) so probably shouldn't have raced.  But decided to anyway.

Had done plenty of practice, culminating in a 25.7 on medium tyres and race fuel, so I was pretty confident.  Qualifying saw a relatively clean run for once, and my first pole position for ages, 3 tenths off my PB though.

Race started, and Shark nearly drilled me into T2 - I had to come off the brakes to prevent him hitting me.  Sorry if I braked a bit early.  A lap later, Jon got past, and was right on me.  Had a struggle getting past a backmarker, and after that we were together.  Then Jon spun.

2 laps later though, I found I couldn't see Jamera, in much the same way I couldn't see Tyf at Barcelona (when I ended up hitting him).  It definitely wasn't the number of cars displayed this time, that was at 24.  Just a bug.  Was trying to decide the safest way to pass when for some reason (I think I braked late) I washed out with understeer at 4, spinning into the gravel.  Couldn't get out again, and 50 certain points were down the drain.  Headache now worse than ever, I went to bed for a couple of hours.

Was totally my own fault, I don't normally make mistakes like that, but I was really beginning to struggle with my concentration, having pushed hard the first few laps.  With such a headache, it's nearly impossible to concentrate for long periods.

Once again my championship chances are in big, big trouble.  I'm now relying on mistakes from Jon Sad

Well done SBG, great result for you and the team Cheesy

Sorry to hear that Mark, maybe it's ze Penguins prezzure Wink!

(nerves not helped by coming across tyf on last lap clearly struggling with tyres, I know you were being careful but nerves were shot by then   Embarrassed)
Haha! I can imagine m8. Been leading a couple of fun races myself and noticed a HUGE difference in nerves then and where I'm usually driving Wink Cheesy.
My tyres were gone in the end (Lambo) but I always try to keep an eye on what's behind me as well as in front and had seen the leaders closing in on me after my 3rd spin. So I tried to stay ahead and not get lapped Cheesy which worked in the end. Would have spun off if necessary for not hitting #1-#3 spots though at the end of a race. My 10th not being that important to me! Cheesy

Well that was my GT Sprint race and it wasn't good! :'(
Had bad frame rate in qual and couldn't get a clean lap in. Just when I did finallt do a clean fast lap I came out of the last bend and the session ended before I managed to cross the finish line!! So started last.
Just thought I would poodle round at the back and wait for people to crash and sure enough I was soon up from 24th to 15th. Then for some reason the game froze and crashed to desktop. Gutted.
Never happened before to me. Not sure if it was a bad connection due to the weather or if the game overheated?
Oh well I really enjoyed the race even if it was over a bit too quickly. Smiley

Yeah my fault that one, thankfully just had enough stopping power to avoid it. As I said I was still in qual mode and it really didn't want to brake as late as I was attempting. Braking point was partially unsighted because of your car ahead but that is no excuse. Good driving.

My problem seems to be that you and Jon can run at nigh on qualifying speed in the race and I can't. My qualifying speed is a second faster than race and I just can't go as fast as you 2 and I end up trying too hard when the car simply has no more speed in it.

Once again my championship chances are in big, big trouble.  I'm now relying on mistakes from Jon Sad

Yep, looks like JonM has wrapped up championship bar any major incidents or missed races for him. Gingster has joined the battle for 2nd though so has made it a bit more interesting.

Yeah, I think that's one of the big advantages of the Lister.  Not only that, but you can push hard enough on mediums and the tyres will last too.  I don't know what the Lambo's like, but as I remember it's not as stable as the Lister on a race setup.  Added to the fact that I normally hotlap on race setups anyway, so I'd done plenty of practice with it - my race PB was only 6 tenths slower than my qualifying PB.

Yeah i succumbed to toms crash too, was following someone really closely in 8th & saw him far too late, swerved, ploughed headlong into the tyres & finally ended up on my roof. But after the marshalls kindly turned me over, it seemed i had no damage  Shocked Managed a respectable 8th or 9th after that i think & had a couple of really excellent scraps along the way, all good clean stuff. Despite its anoyances, the game still can produce adrenaline pumping races, especially when you have competition as good as you lot. Cheers lads!
