Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 68s

In the bunch of cars going through the esses at the start Ossie taps Syd and slows up, Martin can't avoid the rear of Ossie. Although there is some contact, everyone carries on unscathed.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 74s

Immediately following the last incident, the cars are still very tightly bunched, with Syd on the left for the next right hander and Ossie then Martin on the right. These cars are in Syd's blind spot so when Syd aims for the apex he moves onto the front of Martin and is tipped off the track, losing a few places.

Unavoidable if people are going to change lines in those tight corners - Martin is securely on the racing line, Syd doesn't know he's there and moves across, causing contact but losing out the most.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 134s

Martin turns into a left hander being careful due to several tightly bunched cars immediately ahead, Syd is quite well back and admits to missing his braking point, he locks up, slides into Martin and gives him a whack. Reduced to 1 place penalty since no places were lost, although Martin would have taken damage.

  • Syd Drakepenalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost

Server replay time: 285s

Spanner runs into Ossie, knocking him off, and slows to wait, Martin runs into Spanner (not expecting him to slow) at the outside of the entry to the turn, then to continue turns very sharply towards the apex, where Syd has just dived down the inside. There is a large gap for Syd to aim for, he had every right to take the apex. Martin causes contact by pulling back very sharply onto the racing line, due to disorientation. They carry on damaged. Meanwhile Spanner waits for Ossie to rejoin, who doesn't report the incident.

Again, contact caused by an unsighted car pulling across a car tight on the apex. Martin is slightly to blame for turning a bit too sharply towards the apex and although Syd could see an incident had taken place he couldn't expect Martin to head where he did.

Hell of a race. Was really off the pace so just went for it and hoped for the best. Quite pleased with the finish given what I expected going in. So tired that I had my eyes going blurry during the race. On top of that my back and wrist started acting up badly and I was in a lot of pain by the end. Made it though. I almost feel like getting to the end of that warrants of a badge of honour:)

And a BIG thank you to all those who flash their lights in acknowledgement of the slower drivers compromising their races to let you through. Can't speak for anyone else, but I really appreciate it. Gentleman racers indeed.

Bumper cars!
Loads of incidents to report!
2.5mins in the pit repairing!
Not impressed!

M.

So THAT'S why you were behind me and so much faster. Don't feel so bad about you passing me now:)

It always pays to be polite as it lends itself to a better atmosphere when passing backmarkers in the future, I always say thankyou as do many others.
I must commend anyone I lapped as being most gracious, thank you.

I was astonished with how much of a lead you had when you lapped me Madd!!!! Was expecting second place to be right along but waited... And waited... And waited... Grin In fact I spent so much time looking backwards in that race I almost crashed twice. Grin

I want to express my apologies to Syd Drake, I tapped his car twice during our battle, and he spun because of my mistakes. This was my first league race with GTL and is shows. A nice race otherwise excluding my result, so thanks all!

Fortunately i managed to join the race.
First time ever on this track with the CSL, so i was a bit excited when i did a 2.20.6 on 2nd lap qual.
Practice session i did not be able to do due my wife´s calls  helpsmilie
I found myself in P2 at start, stayed there for a lap, then Madd and Dan began to put a few thents
of gap each lap, on the other hand i was putting aswell a few of thents to the 4th place.
With a so long layout(as i really like)  yes my pit strategy was a bit different, i shorted the 1st stint,
so i pited at lap 21. After lap 14 my pace went down 2-3 seconds a lap, by then  the BMW understeer
was huge, as usual....maybe my fault setting the things up  Tongue
BTW, my rear tire ware was at 25-30, while the front was at 45-50   eek
Lonely race for me from 4th lap untill the end.
SBG, hats off for your looooooong stint with the same tires on the beast, i think you did 30 laps,
wich means more than 1 hour  w00t i was wondering why after start, you didnt stay close to me
and most of all why you couldnt get near me on the straights, now i know you were at full fuel.  sweatdrop
Congrats to your win Madd, excellent pace.
Well done Baracus, great recovering driving.
Well done also to Dan, im sorry for your stop&go.
And again, big applause for the backmarkers.  I Am Not Worthy
Thanks for the track choice.

Cheers

well haven't touched GTL since July and that was a mini at Brands  Cheesy

a business call robbed me of any practice&quali at Sepang or the RSR so started without turning a wheel at the place  Undecided which was pretty much last! Had a base setup with not so much as a ratio adjustment!  laugh

got off to a good start and learnt the track with other people's brake lights! managed to run 10th for the majority of the 1st stint, but I didn't know where my fuel gauge was so I used Phil Gilliland as a benchmark to pit, still no idea!!!! (ps. where is the gauge??  Huh)

managed to get up to a provisional 5th with Baracus behind me and somehow managed a 1m22. Loved being in the RSR as it was the first sim car I got seriously into 3 yrs ago....so glad i settled back into it well....anyway in the end the FFB went on my wheel! twice now with the G25!!!  Undecided

i had already go a s/g by then, ran a little wide over the kerb at 3 different places and it punished me, shame with 3rd party tracks Sad but enjoyed the race loads anyway  Grin and retired lap 28/34 so not a bad effort. Good racing with Syd Drake and Spadowski!

I knew that fuel level would be important to getting a fast lap so decided to run with as little fuel as i could in qualy but i was surprised by just how fast i managed having been doing 25-26's uptil now on with fuel in. Couldnt beleive it starting on the second row! right behind Minton! But decided to fill it up and only pit for a few extra liters needed to get to the end but on the first lap i got swamped a bit with the faster cars and ended up taking some tight, defensive lines which meant i was slow on the straight but could brake much earlier which caught me out a few times during the race. I think after the second lap i was in 16th with Tibs infront pulling away!

But tried to get my head down and slowly managed to get the times down, hope you didnt fall off on my account tibs, but slowly with people pitting i ended up around 6-7th so with about 12 laps left decided to pit when i realised i had a gap of 40 seconds behind, but it was slowly coming down. Came out around 8th with Geoffers right in front and Ozzie a little way behind but slowly dropped back behind Geoffers but managed to peg it at about 2 secounds. Couldnt beleive it when he spun at the first corner! Yay upto 7th! But i got too excited as further round i came across teamie Wiltshire Tony dead on the track, wasnt sure if you were letting us through or had got dsco'd but i was thinking too much which meant i messed up the corner on to the back straight, ploughing into the gravel letting both of them through! and that was how it finished. OH well, a point for team. Seem to make a meal at starting near the front, maybe i should start at the back!

Good race!
I'm quietly confident that my connection is sorted now too Smiley

Ballsed up qualifying somewhat and endfed up 11th on the grid. Due to a pretty decent start I got up to 6th I think it was with a few hairy moments where I could brake so much later in the 906!!

Set off on the chase of sbg infront and had a good phase but then I started pushing too much and came off a couple of times - also due to not knowing the outer limits of the track yet at that stage! I was getting more into it from half way onwards managed to put some consistent high 21's in.

Not sure how I got up to 3rd in the end but had some good scraps and no-one passed me so that must have something to do with it. I lose the track of the race on these pitstop races!

During the first half of race i seemed to suffer occasionally as though i'd lost all power. Is this a known way of showing that the engine is overheating or being reved too much? I guess it could just have been my pedals Sad

Great race. Wasn't really getting the track beforehand but knocked nearly 2 secs off PB in qually... thanks to Minton's setup.  Grin
Really enjoyed the 1st half the race, tussling with Drake, DaveGardner & Dynosaur, while others got involved for the odd lap through it.
2nd half was a case of limping home with shot tyres that I should have changed & trying my best to maintain a gap back to Tibs.

Congrats podium & all finishers.

p.s. managed to beat my team mate Blunder for the 1st time too, even if it did take a few other cars to take him out of contention. Dirty brown envelopes in the post  Wink

Good race. Had a great start & passed 3 cars before T1, then got into a bit of a battle with Bara's 906 & Phil's 911. Bara was clearly the fastest but kept stopping for a picnic in the sand. I had the first of 3 spins which let both Phil & Bara past, Bara then spun & I chased Phil for several laps until Bara caught us again & just flew past both of us.

A second spin dropped me into the clutches of Ossie who I just managed to keep ahead of until my stop. Rejoined in 9th & after others had completed their stops I was 7th just ahead of Spanner & Ossie. Kept the gap to Spanner at around 2s for several laps until  Roll Eyes I spun at T1 on lap 33 & let both of them past. Bit fortunate to regain one of the places when Spanner went off later the same lap & came home 8th.

Congrats to podium.
