Well a very eventful but very distracting race. - Qually went ok so I knew I had the pace. - but as soon as he game started. my position was telling me I was 14th.. then doing the formation lap I was last according to my game!...I found this odd. but soon as I passed the line I was back to 2nd position again... - no idea why.. but this kept on doing this through the race and was hard to tell who to chase and who was behind.. so this distraction made me drive a little bit aggressive and a bit wonky? to make up for the time lost by perving at my positions!....

Anyway.. something else append odd. (might have been related to the above lag bug???) - but Before my pitstop I was 8 secs behind busi..now, he did a lap more than me... but when entering the pits I passed the current leader Freq, I refulled etc.. but when I was changing tires freq passed me to regain the lead..(or in that situation 2nd) with me 3rd..... - so my pitcrew went about there work. and I was off no longer than 16 or so secs later... when I came out after one lap Busi was then 40 secs ahead of me. and freq was further than that!....however I was still 3rd.. but Hal at that point was 3 secs behind me!...twilight zone or what!!.. - anyway this again distracted me. along with my messed up positions. - and just thought.. well sod it just race and run true and straight... although my setup was messed up anyway. (I didn't have enough gear on the straights Sad .. - Gazzer then caught me on the 2nd to last lap. when my overcooked but extremely bald tyres just didn't have a answer for him. - he was fresher than me. and was hard to keep a hold of the car. - until the time when I just lost it putting to much lead bricks on the pedels too early!. slightly annoyed with myself for this. as Im always calm and collected. but I guess I worn my tyres down much further than I thought and I was positive to be able to hold gazzer off for the last 2 laps...(least that was the plan) - maybe I need a cat to stroke? or a coat....

Anyway its been fun. gratz to the podium!. (still would like to know where my 30 secs of my life went) lol!

I noticed that too, and it happened to you as well on Friday in the interleague race didn't it? That makes me guess its not your game, but the server struggling to detect your position or something strange? lol I don't know if it may have something to do with it, but both tonight and on Friday your car looked to be warping a bit, moving slightly left and right rather... (and I'm not referring to your weaving on the straight Grin )

Anyway.. something else append odd. I think it has to do with a bit slower pit entry + pitstop + pit exit and a slight *caugh* mistake at the Dunlop hairpin on the out lap laugh Kiss

I will remember this race 'cause of 3 or 4 contacts, which is too many for my taste - I don't know if I had that many the whole season.  Sad

@Psuedo: we were all taking different routes at braking into T1 as this track is very specific in this case. I blame the track for our contact - usually this is the spot to overtake but it is flawed in this version.  Sad

@Shark: The usual great battle, though with a difference:
... we all seemed to be doing the same thing and then giving the places back etc. ...
Don't know about others, I only saw you do it. Giving places back is all good, though you had to do it twice and in both cases we both lost position - twice.  Sad   But let's be clear, I don't blame you (or Psuedo), the chase was tense and it looks great in replay.  Cool This track is flawed. I saw all kind of strange things happen. First the track felt much bumpier in the race, than it was in Q2. How can that be is beyond my comprehension. Roll Eyes  I saw cars cornering sideways (graphics only), being sunk into the track, the last chicane caused them to jump like on a rodeo, had a CTD in Q2, etc. Please let's not use this version of the track anymore.  Sad

The race itself - other than contacts and losing positions Roll Eyes - was quite ok. The car felt good, even if the track didn't. I think I finaly got the grips with the Saleen. And the season ends, lol.  Cheesy  As I said, another epic battle with H@l, Gazza, Shark and Mike Hammer, all together on a string. Seen all of them make mistakes behind me and I was quite confident I could get at least close to the podium.  Smiley

I used less than 80 litres in the first half of the race. Went to pit with less than 40 min left, took 80 litres, changed tyres and went to chase Shark. The chase was great, persistent and thirsty.  Roll Eyes  Needed two litres of fuel to finish, run out before last chicane.  Sad

Not a good finish of the GT1 season for me. 4th in both UE and US at the end. In US I had to quit the race for work and in UE I run out of fuel. No ending podium.  Sad  Even so, I feel this was my best GT1 season, after I got to know the car and how to set it up I grew quite fond of it.  wub

Hope we can incorporate some parts of the 2006 mod into our next GT1 season - MC12 felt great at the test race in Magny Course and I hope I can drive it the next season. Then CBR9, then C6R.  Smiley

Grats to top players, good season everyone.  Cool

First off apologies to Gazza, I seemed to have "collected" you twice  Embarrassed. First time in the slow chicane, and after that, when I was strongly intent on leaving a larger margin, in T1, I still got caught by surprise and spun it on the brakes. I gather there was place switching causing the "congestion". Didn't even feel when I hit you, but seeing you in my mirrors afterwards I realised what had happened. But I guess with three or four cars in a line, the braking at the end of the line always gets slower, due to keeping margins to avoid collisions.

I thought you guys were braking quite early for the chicane and T1 most of the time, but when HAL was following me towards the end, I guess it was my turn to be breaking early, because he ran wide trying to avoid me. So maybe it's more to do with perception when following, or then I was just early that time, dunno.

Was it also Gazza I passed at T1 at another occasion, when we touched mid/exit of the corner? Was rough from me, I hadn't set it up to be a pass at all  laugh More of rear end avoidance that turned into a passing manouver. It was a bit odd the braking for T1. You could be quite late if you followed a proper line, trail braking into the apex. But going the same speeds, if you just try to stop in a straight line, you'll run way past the turn in point, or even off track.

That chicane too, man, a real rollercoaster that first curbing with the stick in it. In practice I did what that bmw did in race, threw a sommersault, from what I would have thought was a legitimate, if bumpy line over the first curbing. In race it threw me for a spin or two as well, but fortunately no acrobatics.

It's a great track, nurby, though this version had pretty hefty grip levels and a dangerous chicane.

Was a fun four way race while it lasted. Sorry again to Gazza for the hits that cost you positions. It seems to have worked out in the end though.

Thanks again for a great series, always good racing here.

Oh, if you saw my antics one lap before then end, that's cause I thought the race was over already  Embarrassed laugh
Hope I didn't cause too much trouble for you guys.

If you're already marginal on ride height, the extra fuel in a race setup will certainly have you bouncing off the floor in places.

Something odd there, I got the race finish sign in fourth and the others around my position seem to have done an extra lap, Gizmo, whats going on Shocked

According to the export, Jan actually did 40 laps, not the 39 shown in the lap chart, which probably means he got a cut warning on his final lap. Since you're both shown as DNF and Spanner isn't, he's classified ahead, with you and Jan then ordered by qualifying time.

Yes, I am showing as DNF because I hit the escape button a after I crossed the start/finish line after the race finish sign came up (after having done a warm down lap and hitting the escape button before the pit entrance), not to mention others drivers doing doughnuts round me Shocked and chatting about the race, always a sure sign the race has finished.

Never mind, not much can be done about it now I suppose :'(, sad technical end to what was a good season.

Ride height was 7/9. Besides, I had identical setup before in P1 and some days before when I was setting up my car.  Sad  Only the race session felt much more bumpy.  no

that destroyed me mentally last night  Sad was so gutted. Fps had been great all week at that track, online and offline but then on sunday afternoon i got my first inkling that it was going to play up when i was online with a few others praccying.
then race night i was getting big fps shudders whenever a car came near me on track and up at chicane at back of circuit.
Thought it was still raceable but was costing me 1-2 secs a lap in qually, but would have raced anyway for as long as possible as i wanted some points.
But on the grid for race start all my pedal controls stopped working. Thats only ever happened once before since ive owned speed 7's and pretty sure it was track related this time judging by the amount of ctd's people were having in qually.
Felt totally narked off for rest of evening ! as was really looking forward to racing at Nurby as car felt really good and was aiming for another podium place. Looks like i was robbed of yet another great battle in GT2.  Sad
Going to try and remove sp3 tonight and see if that restores normality, otherwise i may have to do a complete xp reinstall and i hate that ! Angry

Sounds a bit harsh to rob JPS of his 4th place if he was given the race over message.
Such a shame this track appears to have some problems as its a great track and looks very good in this version.

Bad luck Purdie  We'll keep it a secret about you getting GT2 pole so you don't need to get upset

Think you had best hide the GT2 lap record btw  whistling

lol, well that's some consolation Wink! complimented hugely by the new version of the track  Cheesy

2 hours of practise before-hand was my main gripe! lol   Shocked plus the 2 bottles of Suave at Strada with my gf at lunchtime make it doubtful I cud go a 80 min race without crashing!  laugh

Zak I noticed this was happening on both Tuesday and Friday nights race too.

I did not notice any warping of your car though.

I used to suffer from this when I had connection problems in the past.

The game was not logging some sector times and my position would be lost and it would appear that I was dropping down the field. Normally at the start of a lap it would suddenly correct itself.

However, when this repeatedly happened it was a sign that I was soon to drop connection, but your connection has so far held up in when it's been happening.

I remember the voice message re race finish, but I have to be honest I don't recall the message confirming this.

Hey, I just checked the GT2 Championship Standings and I finished Third at the end of Season 8, I am very pleased with that, for my first GT2 season Cool

Morning All,

Really enjoyed that!
Struggling for front end grip until a last minute change did the job!
Struggled to get a half decent quali lap in due to sim/game issues.
Had to drop and reload before I saw anyone! Forgot about the + / - thing!
1.51 in quali but did a 1.49.8 in the race which I am really pleased with!
Thanks to Truetom for an undeserved extra position!

Thanks to all the aliens, podiums, championship victors, gentlemenly racers and especially all the admins for an excellent fun season.

Looking forward to the next one!
