Moderator's Report

A second straight victory for Asbjeurn. There were no incidents for me to comment on, though Al had more than one encounter with that lonely tyre early in the esses. Both Mike and Al had good races on a fairly tricky circuit and were keen enough to do extra laps at the end. Commiserations to Steve for his technical problem. Peter was dropped again so after Vosblod crashed there were only six of you circulating, but once or twice you ran close together.

With some of the senior drivers opting out of the next race it'll probably be a combined grid- but at least East London isn't plagued by half-buried tyres!

Didn't perform as well as I did in Watkins Glen. I tried to keep up with Asbjeurn but I clipped one of the tyres on lap 3 which spun me round from which I never really recovered from. After a few quiet laps I selected the wrong gear when approaching the last corner which locked the rears and caused a nasty shunt. I managed the last 12 laps ok though, if a bit off the pace. Asbjeurn was simply better than me this race so full congrats to him.

Thanks, Sam, and everyone. Yeah, I was surprised that I got pole this time, since I quallied with race fuel just to check that the gearing was right. With less fuel in I felt that the revs got a bit too high especially on the front straight, and wanted to sort that out, so I wasn't too focused on getting a good lap time. Most of the time, actually, I spent trying to avoid those !#"$£ tyre thingies they put around the track. Some safety measures!  gun_bandana

Race: I kept on my side of the track until I could see you in my mirrors, I did not want to cause any start crash from pole! That would be too embarrassing! After that I did my best to keep you t distance, so that you wouldn't get the chance to slipstream past me. When you then suddenly disappeared from my mirrors, I understood that you must have had a spin or something. From then on it was all about fighting my self and my tendency to get a brain fade or two during the race. owards the end I had a few as well, first a spin in T1, and then a few laps later I had an excursion on the lawn going through the esses before the hairpin. The distance to those behind was so big, though, that my position was never threatened.

After the race I had an uncomfortable feeling that I had sandbagged myself into the wrong class/division or the wrong car. I joined this league to find people I could race with, after spending the last two seasons in NGPLS laps behind the rest. Now, or at least in this race, I found myself in the completely opposite end of the field, and that wasn't too much fun either. Perhaps my experience with the -67's gives me too much of an advantage ahead of the others?

Well well, we'll see on East London how it goes. I'm not that familiar with that track, so perhaps it evens out more, and to be honest, I believe I'm pretty close to the peak of my performance, and others may improve so much that they get way ahead of me in the end. I see good hopes for Happyal, and Sam just needs some more concistency, and then he'll be a hard nut to crack! Steve has been really unlucky. On Watkins his engine blew, and this time his pedals failed him. What will happen when his luck is back? Norbert has got some good speed hidden inside as well, I believe.
