I would like to have a look at this, however every time I try to load the demo from their site it simply tells me connection to the download is suffering issues.

Is this sim still operational?
and is the demo still available?

I went to the GPC site and it is about as user friendly as a chocalate made tea pot.
A quick heads up from anyone if this is a dead duck in the water, and best just forgotten about, or is it a sleeping giant Shocked

Last time I looked there was no demo. One is promised with upcoming (been upcoming for a while Wink) patch and I would wait for that. We will know of its a sleeping giant or dead then I think.

I've used it again recently and in my, lowly, opinion its the most satisfying sim to drive and I've tried most Smiley

There was a demo, but it was very limited as it only had 1 car and track and didn't have AIM.

I tried out the demo and thought it was pretty amazing graphics were good, car handling was amazing and was reputedly confirmed by real races as being pretty darn close to reality. It got a bit dull though driving on my own offline with no AI. Wish i'd tried it out online now, though i guess it had some issues as it did die after a little while when it went silent from the developer.

EDIT, if you really want to try it....

Just tried to play the demo...............not very user friendly...where are the options...plus it only seems to load into a small screen.....the only plus is it sounds pretty good.

It's amazing, better than anything else in handling terms IMHO, but the netcode was ropey, nobody plays it and I'm still waiting for that hill climb track.

I just tried it tonight. The demo was available from the main site, but only from the mirror link.

The options are all there, just not where you normally expect them. Some are available at the main page in the settings tab. For full screen select video and then tick the full screen box (under resolution selection). Many other options are only available once you start a track day and get to the garage. Things like FOV and seat position are under the misc tab. Be sure not to tick the fullmode on the track options before starting the session. This makes you wait a realistic time before driving for every alteration you make to the setup, and the mechanics are slow I can tell you!!

I've only done a few laps in the little F1600 you get in the demo but it looks good. Don't like being forced to use the stick rather than the paddles though!!

Interface doesn't exactly make sense, does it?

And yet, when you bring that point up on the RSC forums, you just get posts saying "If you don't like it, why post here".

To be brutally honest, nothing puts me off racing nkPro more than that stupid lame interface. I've had netkar on my HD since 2002, and the interface really hasn't changed much since then. I just hope they fix it in 1.0.3...
