Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 1164s

Geoffers misses his braking point and rear ends Tinman hard, sending them both off. Geoffers was trying to overtake Ade, but hit the car infront which was Tinman.
Incident with big consequences, as Tinman's car was damaged in the early stages.

Server replay time: 1389s

I didn't see anything at the reported 1359, but I think the incident mentioned was at 1389.

Matt loses a bit more speed than normal in the Porsche curves. This slower speed surprises Edamspeed and he hits Matt at the rear. Edamspeed couldn't help that as he was very close. Geoffers was also following very close and due to the contact between Edamspeed and Matt, the car of Edamspeed slowed drastically, leaving Geoffers no place to go and he hits Edamspeed at the back.
Nothing all drivers involved could do.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1981s

Matt says he was wobbly in the Porsche curves and Geoffers has more momentum and takes a tighter inside line. When he is on the inside Matt closes the room and the cars rub doors. There was hardly any room and on overtake attempts like that would not be adviced for the future. Due to the door rubbing, Matt's car spins and Geoffers wait.
If this was clearly an overambitious overtake attempt, it would have been given a penalty. It's however unclear what the real problem was here.

All members welcome.

Practice: 20:15 (10 mins)
Qualifying: 20:25 (10 mins)
Race: 20:35 (17 laps = ~80mins)

Track: Le Mans Sarthe v2.0  (download here)
Cars allowed: Any GTC76 plus GT40 and McLaren M1A download here.
Time of Day Setting: 08:00
Start: STANDING
Pit Stops: You must make a minimum of one pit stop during which you must take on at least 1 litre of fuel or change your tyres. You cannot take your mandatory stop at the end of the pace lap, or with less than 1 lap to go.

Server: UKGTL Classics Cup
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.ukRules.
(3) The season will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.6.5.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page.
(4) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car

If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

(5) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

Sad Congratulations to the winner of the championship as due to the date being when I'm on afternoon shift (I thought it was going to be on the 16th, a Sunday) and I can therefore not fight for the championship, gutted is an understatement  :'(
Any chance of running it on the 16th?

Why would you think that a GTL event was being held on a sunday  Huh

anyone put in any laps here yet? Interested to see what sort of times to aim for/beat  Wink

Can we do our live timing (sort of Tongue) by posting laptimes throughout the week and in what car?

Early runs for me in the 911 and i am doing 4:39 so far. Was on a quicker lap but ran wide in final sector Roll Eyes so would hope to move up into 4:37/38 territory, if not higher, with more runs.

Love this track, gives me goose-bumps just driving on it. Cool

yeah i just found the old race thread where i got a damn disco at the time so never got to see how the race would pan out. I do remember i had the only 911 on grid and it was outgunned big time. Perhaps i need to try another car this time around as no doubt the grid will be full of uncontrollable V8's again  Wink

I think a 4:39 only got me 16th on the grid  Shocked so need more power here.

took 2 secs off my 911 time down to 4:37 but still not competitive compared to the V8 cars.

Tried the 906 briefly and that feels so much better through the corners than the 911 so may have to take the baby 917  Smiley
Am just watching the Le Mans movie again too for a perfect Le Mans afternoon. Cool Beats working  Wink

Anyone seen the 935 mod cars in action at Le Mans yet? Awesome Cool The AI was using 3 of them whilst i was practising and they just look and sound amazing belting down the Mulsanne straight.  tt1  I hope they mod a car to compete with it as its simply a crime not to use this beast in our races at some point, even if it formed its own class in a mixed grid of 76 cars.

Don't you overdo it MJ. Man I wish I'd spent my Monday honing me braking points lol  Wink

Cheers for the clips, did the trick getting me in the mood although that version looked a damn sight easier than the one we drive I'm sure. Those starts were insane, strange thought but did they wear seatbelts in those days or just take their chances to save a few secs getting away lol!?

I'm not sure I'd fancy being in one of the slower cars either, being buzzed at 100mph in places!  I'd be welded to my mirrors awaiting the next GT40 missile.
