Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 50s

At the start of the pace lap, Don1 (wobble) is slightly slow away, and Tom Cooper pulls away ahead, and worse still, Don has to put himself alongside Tom three times before Tom will let him retake his rightful place.

Even if you can't see the car alongside when stationary on the grid, you can always tell whether it's ahead or behind you by looking at the row in front (or behind if you're lucky enough to be on pole). If the other car is ahead, the only reason you should pull away first is if they haven't moved at all for several seconds.

Server replay time: 180s

At the end of the pace lap, Popabawa is a little bit too eager to get close to the car in front, accelerates a bit too much on the final straight, and then locks a wheel whilst avoiding running into the back of Picnic.

This causes a chain reaction, with Don1 having to slow dramatically too, getting a light tap from behind by Tom Cooper, who is in turn hit by Wilier. Jamera manages to slow up in time, but Woodee doesn't see the pack slowing ahead until it's too late, comes flying past Jamera and Wilier, and has to take to the grass to avoid running into Tom.

The rule is that "each following driver should only accelerate when the driver ahead does". That means that if you accelerate significantly to catch up with the pack after the last corner, you're inviting the car behind to start accelerating hard. So don't.

  • popabawacaution — excessive acceleration at the end of the pace lap
  • TinMan (Tom Cooperv2)caution — contact on the pace lap
  • Wiliercaution — contact on the pace lap

Server replay time: 197s

As the field streams into turn 1, Tom Cooper is close behind Don1, who has taken up a position in the middle of the track as he's close behind Popabawa. Tom Cooper slows up as normal, but is just a fraction too close to Don1, and tags the back of him, causing Don to spin on the racing line.

Looking at the replay, Tom never actually makes contact with the back of Don's car, so there's a significant element of warp, but he's too close considering that he doesn't appear to be making a passing attempt.

Unfortunately, Don is now parked on the racing line, and unable to move because cars are streaming by in front, and there's nothing but gravel directly behind. Several cars make contact as they pass, and eventually a small pileup ensues. I'm not going to name everyone involved, but as a general piece of common sense advice, if you see smoke in turn 1 on the first lap, it's a good bet that you need to slow down a lot more than normal!

Server replay time: 832s

Don1 (wobble), having been spun to the back on lap 1, has been stuck behind a pack of three cars for several laps. Wilier, seeing Woodee having a look down the inside of Jamera at the Shell Esses, brakes perhaps a fraction early, but Don brakes at his usual point, and runs in to the back of Wilier at considerable speed, sending him sliding across the grass, where he collects Jamera, who had already conceded 11th place to Woodee.

This is a classic rear ender, mitigated partly by Wilier braking slightly early, and also by Wilier starting to drift to the right just before the braking zone, Don showing signs of target fixation as he also drifts to the right under braking - there was actually just about enough room to squeeze down the outside to the left of Wilier.

Don then retired.

  • Don (Don1)penalty — rear ending Wilier — 1 place lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

I don't have the nightmare commute I was expecting this week now, so won't have to pass on this one Smiley

Really like Oscher - you can get into a great rhythm on it. And joy! The 911 is faster than the 360 for me here so the love affair continues!
I've a few new lines I'm pleased about but still some way from the fastest here I think with a 1:28.4.

No way hose! Schumacher doesn't run out of fuel or hit tyre barriers or generally tart races up whereas you actually do finish every race you enter Mr uber consistent  Smiley

Replay is up Smiley

Evil place this, 3 times I spun on the right hander after the double apex left. 2 out of the 3 to let Pops by Wink

Pops and I had a race long battle with never more than 4 secs between us (because of one of my spins) but I think Pops must eat tyres. I'm off to hospital to get my lungs checked out for tyre smoke inhallation Cheesy

Well done to the top 3, I see there were some amazingly close duals that lasted to the end, probably proof it's hard to overtake here.

Phew! My office was super hot and the race just the same!

Bit of a busy qualification session as usual, but I'm starting to enjoy playing the game a bit, making time for myself by dropping back etc I had a couple of aborted laps but ended up with a 1:28.8, 0.4 off my best but not fast enough to beat Sponsored By Ginsters' 1:28.1 anyway so, happy days Smiley

The race started and I did my usual stiff muppet driving for the first few laps before settling down a little and getting all Madonna (in the groove  Grin). I followed SBG the whole race with him a smidge quicker but me a little more consistent. Some great saves there m8 but yo always stayed ahead and, to be honest, I couldn't figure out how I was going to pass you anyway. About mid way through I started to slide the rears a fair bit and had to back off to avoid sliding out and ruining the race. I think the guys chasing me had had similar probs though because I had  a pretty comfortable 12 second gap at that point.

At the very end a bit of traffic made things interesting. SBG squeezed by but unfortunately the black 360 span out. I saw it spin gracefully across the track and just avoided it. Nothing you could have done and all that and glad you finished.

The race chat, by the same racer again, was really unfortunate. Please read the rules and respect other racers more in future  Sad

Qualifying was fun as always at Oschersleben. Short track with not much room to overtake so I had my share of disrupted hotlaps. In the last 6 minutes I managed to get some clean space and that was enough for a pole position.

The race was quite easy for me, driving at about 70% as I didn't want to melt my rear tyres... yes I was driving a Porsche.  Wink I was slowly building my lead and was very carefull at overtaking backmarkers which were very cooperative... very important at this track. In the end I nearly hit a spinning black F360 in front of me so that was a bit of a wake up call.

My win doesn't mean to much as Shark finished second so he is heading for the championship title. I think he deserves it with his constant performance but I'll still fight at the last two races in case he has a missfortune or a moment of stupidity like I had at Anderstorp.

Nice, fair racing guys. Thanks for that and hope I'll see you at one of the toughest track - Estoril. Should be fun!

Sorry about the race chat!: i already did it before i realized i am not supposed to!
Next time i better reconfigure the button to nothing...and i will, lol., I am so used to chatting....
Thing is , i got hit twice, both times  really hard, and the second time (by a rocket?) that made me stuck in the gravel with a fatally wounded car  all in the first race lap!
Its not an excuse...i was just to exited and forgot  the rules about chatting at that moment!
Wont happen again!

Wow!  One of my best ever races Cheesy

Broke into the 1:27's in qual for 2nd on the grid but Shark was incredibly close behind me.  At the start I could hold Shark for a bit but he managed to slip by into the 2nd hairpin.  Chased hard and stayed within 2 seconds all the way, closed up again as we caught a backmarker in an awkward place.  Going into the last lap I was within a second and got close enough to prompt Shark to take a defensive line into the last corner.  Pulled up close and tried to turn inside for a fast exit, just couldn't get the run and finished only 0.1 behind in 3rd!

Awesome race Shark!! Cheesy  Thanks to any and all backmarkers that we lapped, you were all spot-on Smiley

Glad you saw my saves out there Paul. The way I was all over the place perhaps there was no safe place to overtake me (it maybe a good strategy but it did nothing for my nerves and is probably best avoided  Embarrassed). The morgan is pretty competitive in quali but I can not control her in the race. Knowing you were ready to pounce made it even more tricky and double the fun. The last lap fireworks were great.

More than happy with 5th, and I think our absent team leader will be satisfied with our efforts (good stuff mo).

i have a couple of gripes :

Qualifying... I was on a "hot" one... it may have been 3 secs off the pace, but still a hot one for me, but I still had a couple of really impatient people up my arse that had only just come out of the pits...there is not need for it... really.

Race start.... the back of the grid exited the last turn and the grid began to accelerate.... then suddenly mid field stopped dead...and many of us nearly ran into the cars in front... who the fuck thought they would brake at the s/f line and back everyone up?!?!
