All members welcome.

This will be the second race of a short series designed to test the new GT1 and GT2 cars in a competitive setting.

Practice 1:20:15(10 mins)
Qual 2:20:25(15 mins)
Race:20:40(40 minutes)note: no warmup

Cars allowed: Any GT2 from the v2.8.9.1 pack (download from here)
It would be good to have a mix of original and add-on cars.
Weather: 50% wet
Track: Hockenheim National
Race Start Time: 14:00.
Pit Stops: None required.

Server: UKGTR Season 8.9
Password: see above

Notes:
  • Please make sure you are fully aware of the UKGTR Rules - especially the speed limiter rolling starting procedure and the rules about in-game chat messages.
  • You will not be able to join the server without v2.8.9.1 of the UKGTR car pack (see the download link above).
You will not see skins correctly without the optional, matching GT2 skins pack.
  • Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of everyone's connection will be reduced.
  • Please use the Driver Details page to ensure that the league management software has your correct GTR2 'Driving Name' (not necessarily the same as your lobby name).

anyone done any laps here yet for comparison laptimes ?

Its hard to tell if youve got any pace until another time to compare it against  Tongue

1:32.6 (online) in the slip and slide 997 so far, 40mins fuel, race setup.

It feels like doing one of those ice special stages to me ! constant steering corrections for the over/under steer and throttle dancing ! w00t  ...i do wonder if the GP track might have been better just to spread the field a little as contact could be frequent and overtaking a real hazard in the 50% wet  sweatdrop

I think the F430 will blitz the 997 here...its so much easier to drive in the wet.  Sad

Seat 1.32.2 , Gallardo 1.33.06 , F430:1.32.1
The Gallardo feels fast but is not timewise. Wonder what times the Pros are doing here?

mmm, i have been wondering the same. The F430 'appears' too strong at the present, its very easy to drive quickly...or is it because the 997 was prematurely neutered to appease some voices  Roll Eyes

but you also have to remember, that time is set with me driving it !  Wink ...we could gauge it better if some Porsche pros took it for a drive and gave us their views. Hint hint  Smiley
I spent a couple of hours flinging it around Hock today with all kinds of setup tweaks but couldnt get it any quicker. Its a real handful in the full wet conditions.  Sad

ps...dont forget my times are Race spec with 40mins fuel and hard wets. Are the other times posted qually low fuel spec?

Soft wets - race ? Hmm, i think the 997 will shred the rears in next to no time. Undecided They didnt last long when i inadvertently picked them at Spa the other night.

Is 50% rain enough water for soft wets ? Will test them later.

Will try the 996 for comparison also as really didnt do enough rain racing with it to know if it is just the 997 thats struggling in the standing water.  Undecided  Doing my setups to suit the wet conditions is a whole new learning curve but an interesting challenge....any of you clever race engineer types have any good ideas, please let me know !. Ive read up on a few of my books for pointers but its a fairly vague area.

I hope weather plays a lot stronger element in all our classes of racing, it really adds to the immersion factor.

Well, I won't risk soft wets for 40 minutes in F430. Tried some laps with 3xtyre wear and laptimes went down dramaticaly. So, hard wets for me.  Smiley

Just did another 22 laps around here and only gained a lousy 10th  Angry

Getting frustrated pumping laps in without any decent gain in laptime, no matter what i try setup wise. I seem stuck on mid 32-mid 33's  helpsmilie

Any reason why the 996 RSR is not available on srouk server and yet the 360GTC is ?  I wanted to do some comparison runs and no point doing it offline as grip levels are always so different to online.  Huh

Tried the Panoz in the morning on a quick race setup:

Slick Softs: 1:40.2
Intermediates: 1:36.7
Hard Wets: 1:32.8
Soft Wets: 1:31.5

I think the impression I had in Spa about slicks working well in the wet was just because the track was not too wet despite the consistant rain. Now it is really wet here, 8-9 seconds is the maximum difference, much shorter lap though of course

360GTC was left in as Psuedo asked for it, so Dave only took out the 996.

I can see this being more of a test for us drivers than one for the cars!

I'm well off the pace so will stay at the back out of the way. Soft wets on the front definately though i cant seem to get the front working at all.

I just tried the 997....definately felt that wandering on the straight...very strange Huh....however I only did 5 or 6 laps with default setup (wet tyres though lol) and did 1:32:9....same as I have done in the 360....so it isn't particularly slow due to it.

Edited my post with new laptimes. I'm (only?) 8-9 seconds slower on slicks compared to soft wets which are fastest. Don't have too much experience on wet conditions so I can't judge whether that difference in laptime is more/less than normal or just normal Smiley
