I was convinced it was going to rain here for at least the majority of the race & so hadn't done a single dry lap till the prerace practice session. I was blatantly slow with my wet setup in the dry, so stiffened & lowered everything during qually, which brought me more in-line with my usual grid placing (i.e 2nd last row of grid Grin).

Getting ready to join the grid, I checked the weather forecast. Hot & sunny with more sun on the way!!!
I was still very very tempted to start with hard wets till "10 secs to join the grid", knowing that all weather forecasts are total carp. But decided to stick with original wet setup + soft slicks.

As the temperature climbed to what we can only dream of at the height of our English summers, my softs were slowly melting. Managed to get to the end without incident (except a little paint swapping with Dave(?) in the middle there somewhere Smiley).

NOTE - Oh yeah, was going to ask if there was a reason for such a swing in car numbers from C6r to DBR9 here? I didn't get to test the DBR9 & wondered if I was missing out on something?

Good fun evening.

It already started with an interesting qually, as 6 people spun infront of me while I was attempting my timed laps Grin . Only my last 2 laps were clean for me and got pole. At some point I was only 0:00.001 slower than Busi with only 5 minutes to go Smiley.

Race was always very close, Busi within 1s and usually only around 0,5s. The lack of Lambo top speed saved me from an outbrake attempt, but I had to be very carefull, as any loss in momentum would have gotten Busi past.
Great race Busi! Cheesy

I thought the weather was quite odd. Mid december in the UK and 27 degrees lol. How can the weather generator get that from the weather website? Tongue

Yes buddy!
Only downloaded it at the last minute and used in quali to good effect!

I would never however had time to refine it for the race ( as we were all expecting rain! )
so I used my own set up for that.
Very hard set up but it works beautifully!
Would be interested how you would refine it for a dry race?
Coast seemed very low! Any reason why? Just your driving style?

Always keen to learn from the Master!  Wink

Wise decision Cheesy

I think it's an error in the GTR2 physics that setting up the suspension so hard works best. I didn't invent it, I just used it from the real master (Huttu Smiley)

I think you mean wet race? I hardly change a thing, but more wing, change tyre pressures and maybe soften ARB en susp, but that's it. Changing it too much just ruins the balance.

That makes the car steer in very quickly. I don't notice any downsides from having it so low, as I throttle during braking to keep the back end under control.

I seem to get a yawing motion with low coast!?
Holding a little throttle stops that!?
I seem to get it mid corner? or at least just after I get the initial turn in?

?

As far as I can tell, low coast gives lift off oversteer. You can use that midway by lifting off and getting the nose in the right direction, followed by flooring it.
Low coast can make the car unstable under braking, which can be prevented by holding a bit of throttle Smiley.

Just seen the replay and must also apologise to JPS as well as David Milne. I thought I was braking very conservatively for the Foggy Esses but despite taking to the grass in avoidance still managed to tag you and turn you round. Embarrassed

No worries Gizmo, I figured you must of had some sort of brake fade (wet setup with dry tyres) when I felt the knock, decided not to report it, figured it was just one of those things....didn't seem reckless or intentional.
