Ain't it always the way?

I get my favourite track and the chance of a decent set of wheels and then have to go away on business.

Have fun folks. Snif  :'(

That was short and sweet......Cracked the 33's barrier and posted a PB in the 32's in Qually. Tailed the field into T1 and beyond until lap 2, when FMG overcooked it into Club and ran wide, letting me thru into 4th. Managed to keep his Bellowing Beast back until.....you guessed it, Abbey. Tickled the grass on the exit and it shot me and Blackjacks' creation across the road.....beaching us high and dry above the high tide mark...perched atop the bloody straw bales before the bridge on Farm Straight. Managed to keep my non-finish record in Pro races marvelously intact. Burt didn't start again....Huh Congrat's to the podium and other finisher. It's the sort of consistency you don't really need..... Angry

ps....Where did all the entries/starters get to? Only 6 of us in qually and 5 faced the starter.

I had no chance to keep the pace of Paul, at least with the setup I came up to during qualifying. He wasn't just faster on the straights, he was faster in just about every corner as well. I had awful understeer from mid-corner onwards so I couldn't carry much speed as I'd have liked to through most turns. Still, if it wasn't for his warp problem we could've had a good fight.
The race was still quite good until half-point. Clive rocketed himself in his Honda and slotted inbetween myself and Paul at the start and it wasn't until he made a mistake that I could pass him. Paul did the same a few laps later so I took the lead, but then he really stepped onto it and despite my efforts he closed up and went for the inside after the long straight. I tried to keep the outside but the warp thing sent me off to the wall. I wish Paul wouldn't have waited for us and just go on to win it, but he decided otherwise.

Glad you were experiencing Paul's warp as well Hristo, I thought it might just have been me. Undecided

In the early laps I was reluctant to attempt a pass on Paul, although i felt quicker in some places. His "tail out" style and the warp combined to make any gap immediately disappear then reappear lol.  A very effective deterrent! Roll Eyes

A small mistake allowed Hristo through and I planned to just tuck in and follow for a few laps, as I was happier to have Hristo where I could see him and not looming in my mirrors. Grin

The plan worked well until I put a rear wheel on the grass coming on to the straight and completed a graceful 360 degree spin.

It took me a couple of laps to regain my pace and although I was closing ( slowly) on the two in front it was not enough, until I presume they had an incident and suddenly they were both in my sights!!

I slipped past both ..and for a few glorious seconds I was leading with the prospect of some hectic laps to the finish.
I'm not sure if it was warp contact, as I forgot to save a replay, but the last thing I saw was Paul's green monster dancng about in my mirrors and lunging up the inside.......then it all went black!!
I regained conciousness upside down on the fence, race over.

Disappointed that we had such a small grid for this one, I hope it was just pre-Christmas pressure on time etc and not a general lack of enthusiasm.

Sorry about the warp guys.

My connection used to be rock solid but over the last couple of months I have had reports that my conn is warping.
I thought I had fixed it in the last couple of days but obviously not.

I am pretty sure it is my ISP causing the problem as I have not changed my system, so I plan to switch to another service, possibly BT.

Is that why I can't win any races??? Undecided  no

Why didn't someone tell me?? I wish to claim top spot in all leagues due to unfair handicapping by Richard Branson who must be recieving a back hander from the current leaders. Roll Eyes taz

Just out of interest, what server hosted this race and where is it located ?

I had a race last night on UKGPL4 and the connection was bad for me. The meters were jumping up and down and I was getting between 300ms to 500ms lag.
Then Clive said the server might be in Australia ! is that right ?

Just after that I joined RSL server. I was getting 60ms lag with no warping problems at all.

Hi Paul

4.UKGPL is my server.  Location is Lancaster UK so not as far as Australia LOL.  Anyway I've only got a standard 8meg domestic broadband connection not a commercial setup.  Since we lost Bully's server my server and Mike James server (5.UKGPL - again a domestic connection) are all we have for hosting the mods.  I can only get the original 67s and VROC working properly on 1.UKGPL.

Sorry your connection wasn't good.  I've run a few races on my server now and most of the time it has been fine.  I've set it up again tonight, if you get a chance please try and connect and let me know how you get on.  It may just be my ISP (Orange) was having a bad night.

We rely on benevolent members to provide commercial standard servers for free.  I've noticed Vosblod has started a thread about servers.  I'm going to post something on that thread when I get a chance but I'm up to my neck in DIY ATM.

Cheers

Phil

Edit:  Oopps forgot to mention Gladys.  Now how could I forget her!!!  (Clive Loynes server - again domestic connection)
