Actually Tim, the P83 is not too bad.....I drove it at Reims recently for a first time, trial drive.....and it really surprised me how well it went. Would have gone better with a better driver. Despair not.

I've driven it 3 times so far - It's not bad, but it's deffinatly not my choice for hurling up the valley @ Zandy surrender

That was one tough race!

Qualifying went well, but I dropped the revs too much on the start and went into the no torque zone of the McLaren's engine which instantly lost me 3 positions and almost another one around T1, but the driver behind (not sure who) didn't take any risks and let me live. I changed down to 1st instead to 3rd by mistake on the run to T2, so appologies for the bottleneck that caused.

I'm not sure who it was in 3rd infront of me, but he didn't try to defend his line as I braked later into T1 on the following lap and he left enough of a room for me to go through on the inside.

That was as far as my progress went at the time, because the calamity ahead in the shape of evil's Honda was like an impenetrable wall - terrible in the corners, braking when it shouldn't be and going all over the track from left to right (and right to left!) just to rocket itself on the exits and obliterate my puny (relatively) McLaren. Most of the time I spent avoiding its pipes by applying brakes in the middle of corners and showing IT the finger a couple of times, then trying to get a good run on the s/f straight, which turned out to be a lost cause. Even with a near excellent run I couldn't do better than ALMOST line up with it side by side before braking. Evil of course was smart enough to take such line as to give "ALMOST" situations a zero chance of success so my frustration was tempted to build up. At one point I had a slight oversteer and dropped one or two seconds behind the Honda. Fortunately for me and unfortunately for Evil (I'm sure it was not of his doing, but of the THING) just before I closed up on IT IT decided IT had enough and went offroading at T1 - hoorah!

Now I had Fulvio 8 seconds ahead and by going into "do or die" mode I managed to take off 2 seconds in just 1 lap, but then had a full and a bit more spin after the bridge, but was lucky to face the right direction and continue. By then the gap had opened up to 12 seconds but with 17 laps to go nothing was lost yet.

The "do or die" mode was re-activated (and properly this time) and as the fuel level went down the good old McLaren was flying and I must admit it was one of the best drives I had at Zandy ever, it was simply a joy to throw it (unlike IT) around and get away with it in a controlled manner.

After a few laps the gap had dropped down to 9 seconds, but then I went into a group of 3 (so I thought) backmarkers and one of them (so I thought) wasn't letting me by and I noticed it's surprisingly fast and taking good lines (for a backmarker) so I was kinda puzzled as well as pissed off and was showing the finger (move along, nothing new). That continued for nearly a whole lap until I had a good charge on the s/f straight and slipstreaming that one worked (unlike the THING) so I managed to pass on the inside. It took another lap to get the info that that was actually Fulvio and I realized he must've had some problems and then he decided against defensive driving on the s/f straight.

The above exercise had to repeat with 3 laps to go as I went off at the hairpin after getting bit too sideways and clipping the fence thus getting spun around. But again, Fulvio didn't defend, so I had to pass him and win. The penultimate lap was very fast and I'm very happy with it - 26.4.

Grats to Fulvio for gentleman driving and the Clives for the additional entertainment (nothing less expected).

Probably me.  This white thing was dog slow just in front of me but I wasn't sure who was to my left or when it might suddenly come back to life.  I have spent so much time on the grass on the outside of T1 that I was just didn't want to know.  Besides which, I had elected to drive the Ferrari, which appeared to be on castors.

At 8:00 I decided that, since I will never get the hang of Zandvoort's wiggly bits, I might as well go for a car that would claw back as much time as possible on the straight.  Hence the Ferrari.  I spent the next hour trying to tame the Steve Cloyd Ferrari and eventually reached a stage where I could lap in the 1:29s.  I was slower than I was in the BT19 but that beast, I thought, would just leave me stuck behind someone for the duration of the race because it is not that quick in a straight line.

Whilst H sorted himself out in front of me I think that Bernie may have been sniffing about behind me but thankfully the Ferrari's oumph out of the hairpin put a bit of daylight between us.

The guy who gave up third spot to Hristo got himself crossthreaded near the end of the same lap and allowed me to move into 4th spot, where I stayed for the duration.  With H and Evil chewing lumps out of each other in front I was able to close on them but I think that I made a mistake somewhere and they escaped before I could show them what use a Ferrari with a high top gear could make of the straight.

Evil fell back towards me after his excursion at T1 and we then had a long chase, punctuated by backmarkers; some of whom helped me and some who fell just right for him. 

One point about being lapped, once you have the overtaking driver alongside, why not lift a little?  Then you don't both have to compromise great shedloads of time at the next corner.

Anyway I managed to close to within 2 seconds of Evil and that was almost fatal.  I changed down too quickly going into T1 and lost the back end.  I had to allow the recently lapped Honda back through before I could set off after Evil once more, who was now some 11sec up the road.  And that about how it finished.

Grats podium.

"It" was determined that "It" would not be lapped, and the safest way to guarantee that was to keep you behind Hristo Roll Eyes

The setup that I cobbled together for the Honda was indeed a nightmare and I was amazed to be so high up on the grid. Even more amazed when Hristo crawled off the start line and I had a clear run to T1 and second spot.

The next few laps had Hristo chewing bits off of my exhausts around the whole circuit, with a brief respite down the straight. I actually wondered if I could maintain that for 33 laps???  probably not..
Hristo had a moment somewhere and dropped back, and that was a cunning ploy!!, because I was so busy searching for him in my mirrors I missed my braking point for Tarzan and went just a fraction wide but lost enough time for him to slip past  Undecided

Clive showed up behind in his hairdresser's car and got within a second or so whilst I was fighting the Honda's handling, but dropped back after an off at Tarzan, I think. 
Things seemed to improve as the fuel load reduced, but still not great, and Clive was obviously busy with a cut and blow dry so did not bother me again…so I cruised to a much better than expected 3rd and a podium spot.

Grats to all finishers and thanks to hristo and Clive for some great racing. Grin

I'd somehow lost the ability to change down correctly over the hump into T2 ( Undecided) and wasn't feeling that up for a scrap with you  ninja
Wasn't 100% sure where you were or how much chance the BRM had of out braking you so just decided to let you by with the intention of using your slipstream to stay near the front and take advantage of any spinners - As Clive points out though I was the spinner all of 1/2 a lap later when I put 2 wheels in the sand somewhere before Tunnel Oost  Embarrassed

That odd problem (it was me not the controller  Roll Eyes) caused me several offs before I simply gave up trying to take T2 fast and concentrated on making it around instead - Finally got my groove back on in the 2nd half of the race but it wasn't enough to make any real headway into catching Clive again.

Nonetheless I'm quite pleased with the BRM's performance if not my own, and Thoroughly enjoyed the workout/chase  (was sweating buckets by the end!) Grin

A pretty nice race for me without errors, apart a misunderstanding while lapping a car at T5. This was the second time I have raced these 3L. cars and after a brief spin around the dunes with all the four fast cars I decided for the BT19 cause it was the more easy to drive with Cloyd's setup.
I was surprised to get second spot on the grid after a driver named Colin McRae, I found out with my surprise after the end that he was Hristo, I would have to imagine it cause the late braking and sideways turning driving  Shocked
I was even more surprised to find myself in the lead at the start and later at midrace I had still 12" gap on Colin-Hristo that made me think I could make it. No time to finish to think of glory that I was off on the fence at T5 after a backmarker slowed down too much and then suddenly disappeared (lag I think) downhill to T5.
When I rejoined the track I found my car with susp probs and Colin right on my tail  Shocked
I tried to keep him behind but he easy had me  at Tarzan. He grew soon a couple of sec. gap but he spun at hairpin and I slip by. With another easy outbraking manoeuvre he had me for the second time at Tarzan with 4 laps to go.
At next to last lap I had a scary moment on Tunnel Ost exit riding the left embankment and rejoining the track without crashing, lucky me!
