So to summarise I think we quicker lot should be encouraging those who request help more by helping them get a feel for the cars

I would advise those not yet in GTR/GTL teams to give it a go asap. We at team KC, and I think most are the same, pool our info (i.e. sponge of Paul  Wink) to the benefit of us all.

My setups make the same standard changes to make the car pointy and thats it, I haven't got a clue about technical bits nor do I wish to know. Will post them anyways. Still maintain that only through time in these cars can you truly appreciate their intricacies, only halfway through race last night did I get the 914  Smiley

Paul, i tried your setup during qually last but it was too late for me to get a decent feel for it even though it felt pretty damn good to me. It turned in nicely, though a stiffer car will always catch out the unwary. I just didnt have enough laps available to get familiar with it, otherwise i think i would have bettered my laptimes. Watched your timetrial too....very cool. As i had suspected you are 'driving thru' corners that i am 'turning at'..if that makes sense? You have perfected the Porsche mantra of slow in/fast out in these classic old 911s  Cool

To be honest Mark, I'm trying to do 'fast in, fast out'   Wink

Seriously though, what I try to do is turn the car into the apex off the gas, where the balance should see it start to tip into oversteer if I do nothing. I can then pick up the power as it teeters on the brink before the apex to just balance it and add a 'dab of oppo' (anyone else here a fan of Troy Queef?  laugh). I have no idea if this is what real 911 pilots do, but it works for me.

I've found as long as I treat the P&G cars as completely different cars to the ones in GTL (which they are) I can get used to them. They just take a bit of practice.

Basically the best way of putting it, these cars are imo NOTHING like those in GTL, drve them as such and you become a cropper (see my Mid Ohio race for confirmation!)
But drive them as new entities and you 'get' them as Ian said.

PS
Paul......I hate you!!  Cheesy

Yes, thats exactly what i noticed in your TT, it meant you could get on the gas very early as you get the nose pointing the right way and 'drive thru' the corner  I Am Not Worthy It was particularly noticeable in the tricky turn1 carousel.

Got to love this Troy quote " The Ford Ka 1.3 TDCi Zetec is a bitch. And I spanked it."  laugh

I still dont get why some are saying these cars are too much hard work  Huh do you like racing simulated classic race cars or not ?...if you want airy fairy power steering and ABS etc, race something modern  Wink  These cars do make you work because the real ones do ! Ive been lucky enough to drive some of them in my time. An old aston and a D-Type Jag for instance are heavy mo-fos with steering like a bus !!  Shocked

I guess GTL has just managed to strike a very good balance for me between realism/imagination/difficulty/fun. P&G has yet to hit anything like a balance I'm happy with. That's probably the best I can sum up how I feel about it Mark. Hope that helps?
I'm guessing from your P&G enthusiasm, that for you, P&G meets that balance more then GTL does.

GTL isn't any more or less realistic than P&G. P&G cars are as they were when they were made. GTL ones have upgraded parts, particularly the suspension. So they are completely different cars.

Not sure I agree with you there. From memory I think the GTL cars are not meant to be significantly modified. I also think the physics and the FFB in GTR2 are quite a bit better. GTL cars feel numb to me but PNG cars feel very much like real cars on the limit - tricky and alive.

One other thing to mention. I think the base settings for the FFB are not that great, so I use a modified set. I've uploaded my player file if anyone wants to try it:

Not sure! I thought I did, but the patcher now asks me if I want to do it (as opposed to uninstall it) so maybe it isn't? Try it anyway and see if it helps. Running out of time here so I can't check I'm afraid.
