For once I didn't have a freeze or disco in P1/Q2. Qualified 4th, finished 4th. Race was ok, had a scrap with Lazlow at first. We had some close laps and we touched twice (pm sent). Then with Shark 'till the end of time.  Wink  Not much to be said, one of the peaks of my racing here. Only bantering with MJ comes close.  Grin

After the last two races there a few things to be said. I held back after Anderstorp, waiting for any response from the staff, but...  Undecided

Guys, when you're about to be lapped, let off the throttle, don't race the driver 1 lap in front. Please don't take this as flaming or shaking fingers or tripple axel.  Smiley  Some are relatively new here so this is just a friendly tap on the shoulder. Even if you race the guy next to you, who is also a lap behind: I know you're racing and my heart bleeds for you, but move away, ease off the throttle. Especially in the same class racing a car lapping you doesn't have any more power than yours, so he can't overtake on power and if you're on racing line at corner entry/exit he can't pass there either.

Yesterday we and Shark were close racing for at least half of the race, we were inside 1 sec difference the whole time, changing places and the guy behind always putting a pressure on. Some laps to go and we encountered two drivers a lap behind. One eased off, one didn't (fair?). Shark had to use the line outside the track to get by, getting a warning for cutting the track. I couldn't get by for at least another kilometer and by the time I did I was 2,5 seconds behind Shark. Race ended there, efectively. Apart from directly influencing podium outcome, how was that fair to the driver also 1 lap behind who eased off?  Sad   It was done similarly, though more excessively, at Anderstorp.   Lips Sealed

Again, I'd like this to be an example of how things don't go here. If you're a lap down, racing another guy is not a valid excuse to block a car lapping you. Saying that, punting away drivers that don't let you pass is also not valid.  nono   Make a report and the moderator will do his appointed job.  euro

I hope this can be treated as direction for general behaviour. After all, this is supposed to be a friendly competition. I welcome the new guys, it's always good to have new faces, new drivers and new challenges.  Cool

Bad luck to JPS and MJ for their ISP problems.  Sad   Reading MJ's report I must admire how well the cars are ballanced (well done Pseudododo and his crew Wink ). Apart from Panoz, of course.  Cheesy

Grats to podium, well done Lazlow and Shark, this is the stuff I come here for.  Smiley

TT

P.S. Get away from that iRetching hotlaping, Simon. This is where the racing is done.  Wink

Holey moley !  Wink

Had a great race but a last lap incident leaves me sheepish!  Embarrassed

Big apology to Evert. We were having an excellent battle, very close racing! I had been catching him over the last few laps of the race but could not get past! Smiley
Lost concentration and completely missed my braking point for turn 1 by an absolute mile! Unfortunately clipped Evert and spun him round.
Waited for Evert to turn round and continue etc. but then Legzy comes round the corner at warp factor 10 and ploughs into Evert.
Another apology to my Team mate Legzy Sad that completely wiped him out! Sorry buddy.
Evert was obviously damaged but continued so I followed with no intention of passing him!
Unfortunately it was 2 laps to the end and we lost a couple of positions each, despite lots of defensive driving on my part.
Looks like we scrapped 11th and 12th!

Really disappointed with myself. Pride myself in racing without incidents but I guess we all make mistakes!

Ho hum!

M.

Please accept my apologies Truetom - I have a feeling that I may have been one of the cars that got in your way.  Really sorry about that and I'll take a look at the replay to learn from my mistakes here.  I'd had a couple of small offs and simply got mixed up as to whether the cars that had caught me were because I'd spun or because I'd been caught by the race leaders.  It also came at the same point where I was racing another white F430 and to be honest I lost track of which white F430 was which.  Anyhow, sorry - no excuse for causing problems like this I know.  I'm new on UKGTR but have done plenty of online racing over the years to know better.

Will hope to improve with time hopefully!  Unfortunately I'd had no time to adjust the car so it was just the default set-up which seemed okay, but not very competitive.

Anyhow, I really enjoyed the race and will hope to take part in more in the future.

Cheers, Ross.

Yeah, I was doing that but I could see any label for cars behind me but will check this - I could well have just missed them in the heat of the moment.

Had a great race again. Car felt all wrong during qually but managed a decent lap somehow?

Race was going well, had some good laps at the start chasing Picnic, till I got past & set about catching Matt took a few laps & was most enjoyable but sadly Matt missed his breaking (trying to make sure I didn't outbreak him I think) at the early high speed chicane & hit the sand. Didn't even manage to hold that position for two laps as I had a mini off which just allowed Evert & Picnic through. Set about chasing Picnic again & felt I was a little quicker over enough of the lap but he drove very well & I couldn't find a way past & I could see Evert opening a gap. Tried to force a move at the final chicane & procreated it up, so badly that I missed everything by a mile (including picnic) as I ran straight through the chicane & picked up my 1st cut warning Roll Eyes. Immediately flashed Picnic threw & gave chase again. A lap or so later he got the power down too early at the chicane & I was through... but so was another car... "Hello Blunder" I said on TS.
Luckily I was able to blast away from my teammate on the next lap as I set my best lap of the race at that point by a clear second or more with the free space in front of me for the 1st time. Pushed really hard for a couple of laps, gaining slowly on Evert & eeking away from Blunder when I got my 2nd cut warning Roll Eyes as my tyres suddenly went off some. Driving more cautiously now, Evert was keeping our gap steady & Blunder was just finding his pace, so I called team orders & let him past as I was happy to see out the last 10 mins holding my position & avoiding a potential stop/go as my fronts were really starting to struggle to turn in. Not sure I'd have been able to fend him off for more then a couple of laps anyway.
I was happy sat just over a second behind Martin & Evert for the remaining laps, with no fear of being caught from behind as I had a good cushion. Sadly my race finished two laps early, as Martin & Evert came together at that high speed chicane one. As I went from maxed out, hit my breaking point perfectly, still breaking as I turned in, turned out the other way balancing the throttle ready for the next turn.... 'Oh carp! It's a road block!!!'... that was pretty much my thoughts as I found myself ramming into the right side of Evert's car (on the right) as I did my best to swerve/avoid. Killed my engine/suspension dead instantly as I flicked off him into the sand as I sent him pointing in the right direction to continue down the track. If it was a game of pool it would have been a half decent trick shot... but it was a race & mine was over as I sank from 11th to 17th :'(.

I know Martin feels terrible about this, so I can sense plenty of mileage/pints out of him for it in the future  Grin Grin Grin

But all in all a most enjoyable race where I never spent more then half a lap feeling like I was harassing or being harassed. More more more please!

Well done all & make mine a Guinness buddy  Cheesy

To see who it is coming up behind you & more importantly what position they're in, you need to look backwards (not in the mirror & only when it's safe to do so)... the default button to look back is "B". Should make it easier  Cool

Yeah, I think I'll have to do the same - I have a triple screen set-up so the labels get very stretched and split across the monitor frames and so they're quite distracting, but I realise that I definitely need to know who I'm racing on track so I'll get it sorted.

It was really just unfortunate that I ended up racing mr_oily on track (a colleague of mine at work) in his white F430 and then you and Simon came storming through in the same cars.  I'd just not realised that he'd been replaced by you - anyhow, enough of the excuses Wink
