Paul i signed up for this offer on saturday, been on it every night, starting to get the hang of it all now. Me and H@l have been on together the last few nights. Been doing timetrials getting my rating up in the Solstice and about to venture into my first race at the weekend  Wink

Need to add you guys on the friends lists to see what times you were doing in that car when you first started.

Good point Gazza, I think it's time to get a list going of real names and SRouk forum names.

I think my best was 1.03.8 at lime rock in the solstice, but back in those days the solstice was much harder  Grin

Watch out for Legzy - he was rather impressive last night, and was only a gnats short of getting into the 1.04s in his first ever session in the car and track!  thumbup1

Well after 2 nights im getting low 1.04's  Wink and im sure a 1.03 is getting near but can only get that by taking big risks. H@l wasnt to far behind either.

My iracing name is Gary Hickman by the way.

Really tempted to buy the skippy so i can join you guys but dont think im confident enough yet and as its the start of your proper season here i wouldnt want to get in the way.

Im really liking it, looks good, sounds good, handles very well but the one thing i was suprised with was that in the solstice it seemed that to get the fast times you had to chuck the car in and virtually drift round corners, thats what i saw when i watched the faster guys in practice anyway. Would that be what its like in real life? I always thought you needed to be smooth and sliding wasnt the fastest way.

As far as I understand it, what you're seeing from another driver on your PC doesn't quite match what they are actually doing and it causes that slight exaggeration in that 'drifting' effect.

If you can get a replay taken from a fast drivers PC that will show you exactly what they are doing.

Good time Gary! To be fair to Legzy though, he got down to 1.05.0 in just 24 laps. Give him a couple of evenings and I'm sure he'll be well into the 4s too.

The real test though is what pace you can do repeatedly in a race. Staying in the 4s every lap is quite a challenge at Lime Rock.

Yeah that is good, i agree doing those times repeatedly is a challenge, my best in timetrial average over the 8 laps is 1.05.

This is becoming dangerously addictive  Shocked

Spending all my free time on it now and enjoying it more and more. Did my first 2 races in the rookie solstice yesterday and it couldn't of gone any better, qualied 1st both races and won both races  Cool SR rating up to 3.60 so ready for promotion.

Then tried a Legends cup race, first time ever on an oval and started 4th, got up to 2nd and was all over the guy until the guy behind clipped me and i spun. Got back to finish 5th so wasn't bad, annoying thing was the guy that hit me go no penalty points and i got 10  Embarrassed

Moving on to the Spec Racer now which seems fun too.

Did a test with the Skip at summit point and got down to a 1.23.0 so making progress. The hardest thing I'm finding is the braking. GTR2 you just plant the brake pedal but iracing you cant, have to find that point just before you lock up especially in the Skip am i right in this?

Gunna have to ask Santa for a years subscription i think  Wink

Sorry for rambling on.

That's a pretty good time, good going!

Spot on with your braking analysis, it's a different technique to get it right Smiley

If you can get a replay taken from a fast drivers PC that will show you exactly what they are doing.

I noticed this information regarding the latest build of iRacing:-

"Replays have been changed to record the actually transmitted car positions for all cars instead of locally extrapolated positions, which is subject to latency errors. This will enable viewers to see what actually happened rather than what their computer “guesses” happened during the few tenths of a second of transmission latency."

....not sure if that's relevant or not though!
