I can see iRacing getting lots of my dosh, it got its hooks in me over the weekend.

Only done two time trials and four races at Lime Rock (not Lowes as I originally said) in the Rookie Solstice so far, but it's great and I love the fact that I can just hop in races on the hour - so addictive.  Managed to get a 2nd place last night after a couple of bad races which I should probably have won but couldn't hold my nerve when leading the field.

I've maybe been lucky so far, but the quality of the people I've been racing against has been very good with virtually no daft contacts that I've seen (other than me spinning in the lead and being hit twice by cars who couldn't avoid me).

I wish their website wasn't so clunky though.

btw, if you haven't tried it with a triplescreen set-up you should - really awesome.

Cheers, Ross.

I decided, finally, to give iRacing a go. Wink

However, I found this line in that Radical website: "You will be sent an email which will include one unique promotional code, a link and instructions to redeem the code for a one-month trial subscription for just five US dollars to the iRacing.com service, including basic content and the Radical SR8 and Silverstone."

Correct me if I'm wrong but does that "free" trial cost 5 dollars? wacko

It WAS free but it looks like they've dropped the 'free' from the trial.

I guess the small cost is to discourage abuse of the trial. It's still a good deal, the Radical alone is $10.

Still good value - I think if it was a completely free trial, the service would be deluged with console renegades.  Charging keeps the riff-raff out Wink

Cheers, Ross.

Yup $12 for a car (unless you get a bulk buy discount obviously Smiley) & between  $12 & $15 for a track depending on which one you want

And everything is cheaper now.

I think you've got a lot of the ovals content as well Rob? That's a big chunk of tracks.

And it looks like you've got aniother year left on your subscription.

I was just trying to make it clear that you don't need to spend anything near that amount to have fun with iRacing.

I have been advised to try iracing by a great member on here, i dont have a machine to run it as yet or a wheel as a matter of fact, but I will do in the next week or so.

I am looking forward to my free trial and getting the feel for the physics of the game. I am so very excited and really cant wait to build up some experience so that I dont make a moron out of myself when I start racing online.

See you on the track soon  Wink

Cliff! Welcome to the nuthouse mate, the only way for your wallet (and social life) is down hill from here Smiley.

Ross mentioned you were after a Playseat so we can have a chat about that at Oulton - we just need to get you on track a.s.a.p. bud!

I'm not sure it'll be quite as scary as the MR2 but almost as much fun once you get into the heat of battle.

See you Sunday!
