Think this works.  The faulty grid has stalls in front of the front of the grid.

Clive, I heard a rumour that the lap count was still off last night and some of the grid could hardly see the starter. Any suggestions?

The timing itself is correct. You get the chequered flag after the correct amount of laps. The problem is the pitboard guy showing you the remaining number of laps as +1, i.e. 2 to go when it's actually 1. I've seen it happen at other tracks as well, it could just be the positioning of the pitboard guy as moving the grid slots doesn't change where timed laps begin/end. From what I remember when I was trying to make a track it's always the line where the first and last track sections connect.

That's correct Hristo  Smiley
You can move the pit board guy around but the start finish line is unmovable as it's defined by the beginning of the first section of track  Smiley
I once tried and failed at track creating too - should have persevered really as I have some good ideas for circuits knocking about in my head  Roll Eyes
Would love to make a circuit out of my drive to work and back  Grin

After faffing around for ages trying to join the race ( dont ask ) I got a tip on joining from Hristo. However the connection was very poor , sound was breaking up all the time and worse all the other cars nearby appeared to be  travelling at least 200mph faster than mine , it didnt make much difference because I got disco'd anyway.

Not sure what the problem is with Igor but the thing needs sorting before I can continue racing , I have been  disco'd from the last 3  "65 mod"  races I joined it seems to be since I installed the 60 hz mod , each time i disco,  I end up with a black screen "papyrus window" and an error message telling me I need an Indeo codec .

 Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

Having seen the replay, I can only apologise for my antics on lap 13/14, and say "it probably won't happen again". By the looks of things, I squeezed a little too much just trying to avoid running onto the banking, which is unfortunately all too easy to do at T2.

Who said I failed.  Grin
I had been working on Imola 94 track for an year and a half, trying to make the layout as realistic as possible, but never got to do the objects and scenery much, so it was left unfinished, though quite driveable. But yeah to make a finished track it requires some graphics and 3D design skills.

That's were I failed  yes
I created an accurate layout for the test track at the Haynes museum in Summerset.
Even managed to get the banking but simply couldn't create the buildings surrounding the track  Sad

Don't you have to switch the 60fps thingy off for normal servers?

If you were prepared to scavenge for objects and scenery that needn't be an obstacle?  You'd have to credit the original authors, but with two sets of extra graphics for sixties Imola itself, as well as all the other stuff, you could make it fairly decent?  Nineties Imola might be more of a problem though.. There's a project I've been tempted by despite having zero knowledge, since it seems fairly limited, the reworking of Suzuka to the sixties layout with sixties scenery- but there might be a lack of Japanese scenery.  There should be enough European scenery though!

Yeah, modern tracks are more tricky because it's hard to make them look modern if you use the majority of  GPL tracks to get objects from and doing 3D and texturing myself I'm just not willing to bother I guess. Besides, with 4 chicanes in it Imola 94 wouldn't be very favorable for 60s cars, except 69 mod perhaps. Not to say it's not interesting to drive at though. If I find motivation I might try to make a more finished version eventually.

I didn't know Suzuka existed in the 60s, what was its layout? From what I know it was built by the same designer that made Zandvoort, wish he was alive and working on modern tracks instead of that Tilke guy...

It was pretty much the same as todays, 130R was 130R. The Degner curves was one hairpin curve closer to the barrier, and no Casio triangle existed - straight run through from Spoon > 130R > S/F straight.

Here's a lap of Imola 94 in a Matra 69 car - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcUVWeqaUi0

You can compare with the real thing in these onboards:
Senna 94 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-64eHLD1F0
Schumacher 94 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_kQVJnZRyc
A bit of Hakkinen 94 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dufRtdbXFAk
Derek Warwick early 80s - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciluwF47c-Y
Eddie Cheever 89 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StxAJsIM6K4 (very good quality)
Riccardo Patrese 91 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkDalK_UStI
Alessandro Naninni 90 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyLP8vcFIE4

As you can see some corners and altitude changes are still wrong, as for graphics many buildings are missing, also there are some bugs with transparency and some textures are too ugly.  Wink

That lap of yours in the 69s looks brilliant! How did you capture it?
