Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 1110s

Jose overdrives his car and goes off. He rejoins properly but then the next corner immediately attacks TT, eventhough Jose is going a lot slower. Still, he runs wide and collects TT, spinning TT around.

The incidents are starting to become a reoccurring thing. It's caused by overdriving the car and lack of proper carcontrol. This penalty will get 3 places lost, as it needs to stop and no more excuses anymore!!!

Server replay time: 1300s

Jose again goes off and loses control of the car. He then clips the wall and shoots across the road, ending up in the middle with no room for TT to go.

This is again caused by overdriving the car, however, he seemed to be a passenger of his car from the moment he went off. Hence I have to see this as a racing incident, but I'm keeping an eye out for these things.

Well I was looking to get a podium today with the viper advantage. Decent qual. on the formation lap I had an over enthusiastic Road Runner in my rear throughout the formation lap and he promptly rammed into me going into the limiter phase for the start. Really unnecessary to be driving like that on the formation lap. As for the race start it was looking good, I had a lil moment going into the caroussel corner and banged into Jose. We all continued fine and going into canada corner I figured I had Jose beat but he blew right by me into the gravel. Cheesy

After that I looked to stay with Hal and Busi. Caught up to Hal then going into canada corner, I'm not sure if I scared Hal but he opened a gap for me and let me by. After that I got a another lil moment at caroussel and then turned in and got nudged off by Hal. After that the race was tough as my tires were going away at this point. I was pretty much fighting defensive battles now. Hal caught up to me after kindly waiting for me. My fronts were just gone and I put a wheel off. I held Road Runner behind me until the last lap until he got me at turn 3. I don't know why I opened the gap cuz I was entitled to close it...but now I see why Hal might have opened the door for me at canada corner as it looked similar.  Cheesy

This cold weather really doesn't suit the viper having to run softs to keep decent temp. Had I been able to stay at the front I think a podium was still possible despite the tire wear. Short of my expectations but that's racing. Smiley

Congrats to Busi on the dominant win. Smiley

As always thanks for having me again. Smiley

Well that was intense  Shocked
I did a reasonably good quali time (think i ended up 9'th) but just as I was about to go out and test my "racesetup" my PC froze and I had to do a reboot. Came back in when it was 30 sec left so all I had time to do was to choose the right amount of fuel and tires and get out on the grid where I started nearly last with one of the Gymer brothers  Wink (Guess I wasn't the only one to have a freeze... eahh Dave angel)
Drove the pace lap trying to find a way to mentally focus on the race... and ended up in the gravel on the second lap  taz whistling
After that I drove like a man possessed  Evil
I had some really good battles with Dave, JPS and some others but due to my lack of racing nerve I lost my concentration a couple of times and the drivers that I had struggled to overtake, passed me and I had to start all over again
Last lap I could smell the frustration when I passed Prof that last corner before start/finish line... Wink I'w been there and done that Prof.. know the feeling  :'(
As Busi said 3 hours lapping here would be AWSOME...  Grin

Grats to podium and to all fellow drivers. / Jorgen W

That was quite fun. I re-joined late and lost my (good for me) lap time starting at the back. I had some fun trying to keep Shark Boss behind me whilst picking off some spinners. Everytime Shark got past he seemed to make a mistake at the next corner and I regained the place. Hope I wasn't too far in the way boss.  Grin

LOL, no Prof. At first I couldn't even keep in your slipstream in my Lambo (despite 2-6 wing), but eventually when I worked out how to get a good enough run out of the final corner, my extra speed meant the slipstream was just enough to get me along side before braking. As you say, I seemed to then not manage the next couple of corners or so without letting you by again.  Grin

Another CTD for me in qually, meant I only just got back in at all and started at the back, although I think I could have been half way up the grid.

I think there are a few things that could be causing the huge number of CTDs (not discos!)...
1) Clients with PnG installed in the same directory as their main GTR2.
2) Something wrong with one of the cars in the car pack.
3) Something wrong with the third party track.

My CTD happened when someone else joined (Legzy), I think he was driving a standard car with no skin, but I wonder if some car file or championship file or whatever gets edited (that isn't the textures) that has caused some problem even with the standard cars too.

This problem seems to be getting worse and I bet the addon track last night didn't help, but again, how many people CTD'd in the race (NOT disco, CTD) as I didn't think anyone got CTD in race did they?

i think your right Simon, most ctds tend to happen in praccy and qually, very few in the race proper. Not sure why that would be though  Huh

I suspect some dodgy car textures/files in the new add on cars. I think H@L or someone mentioned on the skinning thread that some of the cars were badly packed or excessive in size etc. Perhaps that combined with simbins dodgy netcode is enough to cause the ctds as people join/re-join during the early sesh's.  Undecided

Maybe the skinning/paintshop experts among us can go through the add on car files with a finer toothcomb  Smiley

Linguistic police: "finer toothed comb" - a toothcomb would only be needed if you have hairy teeth!

Of course the BIG difference between Q and Race is that nobody JOINS the server during the race. Shocked

Punctuation police: "finer-toothed comb". "Finer" and "toothed" are two adjectives modifying the noun "comb", and as such constitute a compound modifier. Compound modifiers must contain a hyphen.

Bring back GTR2!

I got CTD'd on the Pace lap. Also, as we don't want to stop people joining during qually (I wouldn't have thought)...

A) I was driving the Team Oldie Lister which I've used all season & have not had a problem with (till last night).
B) My PnG install is in it's own separate directory.
C) We used the same Road America track last season with the GT3's & a 23 car grid with out such problems.

I've literally only just installed it all on this PC. This was my 2nd GTR2 race with it (no probs on Sunday). But as it's been suggested that "it's possibly the clients with the problems", I've been racking my brain trying to think what's different between the old PC & this one.
My differences:
1) The Hardware obviously.
2) My new install doesn't have loads of 3rd party tracks/cars installed. (surely that's a good thing)
3) I'm now using GTRXD instead of GTRPD.
4) On the old PC I was using car packs 2.8.9.1 (for GT1 & 2) & on this one I downloaded the new 2.9.1.0 versions.
5) I transferred my driving profile to this PC, while it was the original when on my old one.

So can we try narrowing this down. It's frustrating for everyone putting in the practice & then getting kicked out.

Please state if you have or have not suffered a CTD in qually recently?
Followed by if you're using GTRXD/GTRPD/None?
If you're using car packs versions 2.8.9.1 or the new 2.9.1.0?
If you copied your driver profile from another location?

Maybe we can get to the bottom of it sooner rather then later .

According to the lead developer of P&G, CTDs is GTR2 can happen when clients have different sets of files in their installs.  With all the different packs there must be a lot of scope for differences. Maybe we should try to get a standard set up that everyone can use and then do a test race to see if things improve?

Which of the 'Jon' drivers was racing as "dickbelly" tonight in the Aston Undecided

Apologies for the confusion, Jon is a friend of mine I'm trying to get interested so he hopped on at the last minute.  Jon/dickbelly would be the slower of the two Jons I'm sure!  He'll hopefully be joining up properly asap (I asked him to get signed into the forum asap after the race anyhow).

Cheers, Ross.

Lack of practice didn't do me any good here despite a great set-up from Oily (thanks!).  Apologies to Purdie for sliding in front of you on about lap 2, I was cursing you at the time, but checking the replay you couldn't avoid tapping me so definitely my mistake.

Also apologies for Jonzo as you got caught up behind me as I set off again following the spin.

Cheers, Ross.
