Please state if you have or have not suffered a CTD in qually recently? Followed by if you're using GTRXD/GTRPD/None? If you're using car packs versions 2.8.9.1 or the new 2.9.1.0? If you copied your driver profile from another location?
Maybe we can get to the bottom of it sooner rather then later .
I have only suffered these drop outs since the latest skin/car pack with the newer addon cars. I use both GTRXD and GTR2PD Car pack 2.9.1.0 Copied my profile from previous installs of GTR2 (tho not sure what the profile might contain that would affect anything?) I have wondered whether there are file bits/mods that have got carried over from previous installs of GTR2, but i think i am using a fairly new fresh install as i only re-formatted my HD a couple of months ago. For instance, i use a more realistic Motec Dash mod. I would think the only way to try and eliminate potential probs would be to run some single make races as a test...ie a grid full of DBR9's etc but that would be lengthy.

I too only suffered these CTDs with recent car packs and the addon cars (imho addon cars are much more likely to be the culprits than skinned cars). I still never get discos (reliable cable connection), only ever hangs (which on Vista are CTDs really). I use GTRXD only now, but have run with both that and GTR2PD and suffered the same. Car pack is latest. My GTR2 for UKGTR is a clean one copied from a base GTR2 clean install I have a backup of. It only has stuff used in UKGTR and whatever was in the original game. My profile is copied for all GTR2 folders I have. I run ATI 4870 1Gb graphics card. OS is Vista 64.

Shouldn't this be in a separate topic? I didn't have any problems even with the new GTR2 pack while in testing/pre season. I keep getting CTDs (at least one per event, except in U9UE Dubai where there were non) after my P&Gv2 install. I have it in a separate dir, btw. I also have a new PC, but the problems are equal, so it must be software, not hardware issue. Gawd, let us keep the new pack.

Apologies for the confusion, Jon is a friend of mine I'm trying to get interested so he hopped on at the last minute. Jon/dickbelly would be the slower of the two Jons I'm sure! He'll hopefully be joining up properly asap (I asked him to get signed into the forum asap after the race anyhow).
Thanks Ross, that'll be the Jon who registered shortly after the end of last night's race then. Guess he got lucky guessing the password

It was very last minute and I'd asked him to sign up first but of course he hadn't and it was 8pm. Not ideal really. I blame Oily for everything.

Really enjoyed last night's race - Aston felt great under braking although there was the odd brown trouser moment where I wasn't quite sure I'd scrub the speed off in time to miss the cars that seemed almost parked on the apexes at times, overall though the track was a joy and had great fun blasting around the place with fellow greenie Spanner even if we weren't in the hunt for any silverware. Hope to race here again soon in something old! Although while historics would be great, I do also have a soft spot for those ALMS cars also so might well have to investigate further - which league do you race in if you don't mind me asking Napo? Grats podium people, good stuff Lazlow and another solid finish from new recruit Ross...steadily building up that pace Castle Coombe's going to be err...interesting if the public Evo servers are anything to go by.

CTD during qualy in 2 of the last 3 races. Seemed to be when many other people were leaving/entering the server. GTR2 XD car pack 2.9.1.0 Never copy the profile, just make a new one after reinstalling Window$ and re-establish the same on-line user name. Same with the .PLR file. It was the templates of the new cars that I was referring to in that other thread MJ. Some of them are a nightmare to work with. But that would not affect (did I get it right this time Dave? ) the use of the cars on-line. I know very little about the actual car files. I have had my weather file on read only for the last few races by accident. Not sure if that would cause any problems. My GTR2 XD was giving the wrong ambient temps for a couple of races. I think that was because of the weather file being set to read only.

Had good speed but made silly errors. Sorry if I made some bad rejoins What I would do in your place after a bad rejoin: - I would wait for you to overtake me, no matter how many lost places it would mean - I would send you a PM and explained my view or some such. PMs make wonders... - would make a report of myself Might write down a hundred times: "Better safe than sorry." Collected TT in one of my spins, I clipped the bridge and it pushed my car back on track. Sorry TT This is a racing incident and can happen to anybody, especialy in with the slippery surface condition. Happened to me as well. But I did the above steps anyway.

Early days, but one common answer so far seems to be the 2.9.1.0 car (skin) pack.
Is anyone CTD'ing in qually who's still using the 2.8.9.1 car pack? (that was used successfully in preseason)

www.northamericangp.com, race is on saturday so I don't think it conflicts with any leagues here? not sure when GTL races. Just browse the forum and go into saturday league section. they're going to do a 2nd season after this one is over with updates to the mod. Oh yea and you should know that having a headset is a requirement as they use ventrilo to communicate.

Well I was looking to get a podium today with the viper advantage. Decent qual. on the formation lap I had an over enthusiastic Road Runner in my rear throughout the formation lap and he promptly rammed into me going into the limiter phase for the start. Really unnecessary to be driving like that on the formation lap.
Well considering i was no where near ya for the most part...pretty impressive stuff by me i guess, 2 places at once ...yeah..did touch you coming to the line (for which im sorry), but thats rather different to ramming last time i checked...you seem to forget that GTR2 dosent exactly have the best collision detection....an considering the closer to the end of the lap we got, the further you dropped back from the cars infront...not just your race that gets messed up but everyone behind ya...so might want to keep that in mind for the next one!!!

Hi guys, Yep it's me Jon the rookie. I had great fun last night. I've done a fair few on-line games but they're all like stock car racing - you guys are not only very fast but also very polite. I'll be back!! That's if you want me too, of course Cheers, Jon.

I'm new to gtr2 so I don't really have any knowledge in GTR2 collision detection. "further I dropped back" There's a straight, we caught up to them going into canada corner. I'm experienced enough in online racing to know that driving so closely to the driver in front and having another one same behind you is the way accidents happen on formation laps. Especially when speeding up on a straight and then braking again for the corner. This isn't green after the last corner, it's green after you cross the start/finish line. Ample amounts of time for everyone to slot in safely with a shorter field even with a larger field. Pitlane limiter is like 59 kph or something. So saying I wasn't thinking about it is nonsense. Look at the replay you see that everyone slots in. You understand collision detection yet still managed to get into me... I understand you weren't trying to hit me on purpose but perhaps exercise a bit more caution.
