This is the first race of our Season 17 Gold Cup fortnightly races being run in conjunction with GBGPL.
As well as registering at UKGPL you will also need to have registered at GBGPL; http://www.gbsimracing.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1098.0.html
The races will not be moderated by the UKGPL moderating staff but any driver disqualified by the GBGPL moderators will be removed from the race results. The race results will be imported into the SRou results system and the points awarded according to the UKGPL scoring system.

For server joining details see the GBGPL website http://www.gbsimracing.co.uk/forum/

Server GBGPL - VROC
Race date = 09-03-2009
Time = 20:00 (UK time)
Track = Solitude
Variant = 69F1
Damage Model = Int-Long
Qually time = 30 minutes.
Race length = 50% Grand Prix (11 laps)

Any chassis may be used

Race replays are available at http://gbgpl_weekly.extra.hu/1_downloads.php
The track can be downloaded from http://gpltd.bcsims.com/?dis=S

The Solituderennen events and the 11.4 km Solitudering near Stuttgart were named after the nearby Castle Solitude. Motorsports events were held there from 1903 to 1965.
Due to the narrow track, initially mainly motorcycle events were held there until 1956. The track and the pits were widened in early 1957 and sports car racing was staged by the automobile club ADAC.
From 1961 to 1964, non-Championship Formula One Grand Prix races were also held, in addition to previous Formula 2 and Formula Junior events.The last "Grand Prix of Solitude" with F1 cars was held in July 1964, including drivers like Jim Cark, Jack Brabham, Graham Hill, Chris Amon, John Surtees. The 1964 race was won by Jim Clark in the Lotus 33. In 1965 the last "Solituderennen" on the Solitude track was an F2 race, won by Chris Am

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

I'm afraid we are running under GBGPL regs here Hristo, and they make no allowance in 69's for alien handicapping ( it seems sort of alien to them  Roll Eyes)
From my experience in GBGPL, they seem happy with the concept of a wide range of ability on one grid, and rely on battles developing between drivers of equal speed/ability down through the field. GBGPL is not as competitive as UKGPL in that regard, although there is still some very hard racing between individual groups.

I guess they run the league on a more "gentleman drivers" basis than UKGPL. I know that makes UKGPL sound like a gladiators training school and that is not what I meant, just that there is a different emphasis over there.
Both leagues have their plus points and ways of doing things...handicapping just isn't what GBGPL do.
Of course if you wish to choose the BRM or the Lotus 69 for the whole season, I can't see anyone complaining Roll Eyes Grin

The thing is I'd like to have chance for victory in each race, but at the same time not have it easy, so with everyone taking any car it would take awhile to find that balance since I don't know how fast most of them are atm.

TBH, at Solitude, you're more likely to clout a slower car on the very quick bits and have that ruin your race, so I'd keep one eye fixed on Pribluda! Might be a good idea to look through GBGPL weekly archive records to see lap times from previous seasons as a rough guide, but that might be an incomplete picture.

http://www.gbgpl_weekly.extra.hu/1_records.php?mod=1969

If you take the BRM and the Lotus 69 out of the equation, I dont think there is a lot to choose between the rest.
The Brabham seems to be the favourite with Anders and Fredrik who are the established faster guys in GBGPL.
The Matra is supposed to be about the fastest according to RL form, but I can't see a great difference.
Maybe the Mclaren and the Fezza are slightly slower.
The Lotus 49b is sort of mid ranked at a lot of circuits but I use it 'cos it looks the nicest!! Smiley Roll Eyes and what better reason could there be!!!

But hey!!  what the hell do I know Undecided I still have trouble with the 67 Lotus...in my hands it's one of the slowest cars!! because I very rarely drive the darn thing.

Thanks, Clive, so in other words there are a few top cars and a sudden gap to the slow ones. That might not be so bad then, I guess i'll take whatever those fast people take for now.

Yes Clive/Anders and Fredrik are the usual front runners along with Lorenzo.

As there is not a lot of difference speed wise between most of the chassis it seemed pointless using Chassis restriction , however in future  we may have to look at that with a nearly full grid .

We do normally get spread out into groups during a race so there should be some gaps for passing the back end of the grid. The only drawback to Solitude is the sweeps are allmost impossible to pass through and equally as difficult to let a car through.

Clive you are free to limit your drivers to chassis if you so wish as its makes no difference to our league races.

I'll run a test race on 6.UKGPL at 21:30 GMT tonight if anyone is interested (I'm testing Vosblod's server as a backup).  Be in IGOR chat at 21:30.
