Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 418s

Evert and Jose go wide, losing speed. That gets Spanner infront of them and Roadrunner approaching quickly. As Roadrunner catches Jose he moves slightly but quicly to the right. That makes Roadrunner react and move to the right, getting on the grass. This then causes him to collect Spanner, sending him in the gravel.
Can't blame Roadrunner for the incident as he reacted on Jose, who seemed to swerve to the right, towards Roadrunner.
I also can't penalize Jose for that, as there was still enough room, but all I can say is keep the rejoins gentle and secure.

Server replay time: 1395s

Roadrunner runs wide and gets back on track safely, on the left. The next corner is a left hander so racing line is on the right side. However, Jose tries to catch a slipstream of Roadrunner and runs right into him.
A car that travels so slow doesn't create a noticeable slipstream, nor was it necessary as Jose was a lot quicker at that point.
An absolutely unnecessary incident.
This gets 1 place lost more than normal rear end shunts, as it was such a unnecessary incident.

Okay, that's not good news then as that's exactly what I'm using.  Mine's the analogue version at the moment, was yours?  Did you ever figure out a fix?  It seems like it only CTDs when joining when there's more than x drivers, if I'm already joined it doesn't seem to be a problem.

I had the analogue one too. I sold the whole lot when I a friend got himself a 1080p 42" telly and proved that wasn't a problem so I did likewise.

I found I could often join a server but the car joining, that would cause the CTD if already there, could cause a CTD if they joined after me. That seemed less consistent though. I could drive all the cars offline. One thing you can try now I couldn't back then is don't load the skin packs as I expect this was a GFX related buggette. Maybe the plainer skins supplied with the physics pack are ok. When I had the TH2G I had to race on the middle screen of the 3 at 1280x1024. That worked fine in game but was a bit galling to see 2 black monitors either side Sad

Just out of interest picnic - what gfx card were you using at the time you had these problems?  I'm currently using an ATI Radeon 4850.  I'm wondering if it's a combination of the gfx and Matrox.  I'll have a to do a bit more digging on this as I really like having the three screens.  Will try without the skin pack as well though.

Cheers, Ross.

I was actually shocked to be able to race tonight in the end as we had 'guests', but they left at just the right time for me to join before qually. But the lack of preparation showed when it came to the race.

Made up a couple of places with people going off early & was being held up by Evert till about lap six. I had gone out on softs without thinking about it & was all over the back of him through the corners & corner exits. Kept getting alongside on the straights but once I was out the slipstream he'd be safe, with his extra M3 power aided him to defend the corner again & again. Finally made a committed move to own a corner but Evert blocked & I had nowhere to go but the grass or his car, took the grass. Lost me a couple of seconds but started catching again, then made another mistake from frustration/effort & decided to take it easy. Evert started inching out the gap but the gap back to MJ was comfortable.

Later as my tyres started to struggle a little more, Shark got past MJ & started closing my comfort zone to lead to a nervous final 10 mins.
Luckily I just kept it steady & came home with just under two secs to spare. Another couple of laps would have been tough to hold on!

A solid practice for Sunday that. Smiley

whilst trying to avoid the smoke trail being left by NSFast

I think the rules state you shouldn't be running an engine that hot, if it had happened in Q someone would have complained. After nsfast got passed me it made it impossible to fight back as you couldn't see where you were going. It cost me several seconds the first time it happened as I couldn't see anything but was expecting to find a car sans engine so backed out to hope to avoid it if still on track  Undecided

May I also take this opportunity to remind people the pit limiter should be used in all sessions, not just during the race pit stops. I've seen several cases recently of speed limiter abuse no

From behind the wheel it is obviously hard to judge where your opponent is when breaking into a turn. Yesterday I was under the impression I could hold the race line and I did.
Now after watching the replay I still think I was right to do so, allthough it probably meant breaking hard for you. Shame for it was an interesting fight.

Guilty on that front!  Apologies, I know now.

Yeah, no complaints from me. I went for it knowing one of us would have to give way, & I was prepared (if not ready Cheesy) to do so  Cool
If I hadn't made the 2nd mistake about three laps later I might have had a chance to get back with you, but once you were under no pressure I just couldn't keep up. But it was a good scrap while it lasted. My F430 just needed a fraction more power for this track. I'll see if I can muster some up for Sunday's rematch. Hopefully MJ will keep up too Wink

I might have qualified a bit better, but once I hit a low 2:08 I thought it best to hide out in the pits rather then risk a CTD on the track.

Well St Patrick's day lived up to its expectations for me! Got dragged off after work and had a few Guinness's on an empty stomach so was quite merry. I missed my BeRacing WTCC race at Zandvoort and just made it for practise at Road America  Smiley

Tested on Monday night so already had a setup and just loved every minute (apart from the last few laps Wink) of driving the event. Got a ctd with error report etc in practise (sorry to keep banging on about it Dave, mentioning it for diagnosis problems Wink) and was fine thereafter. Was quite chuffed with my quali lap altho on another run i was -0.4s up but ran wide on that fast right hander and still not enough to catch Napo's sensational pole time   Cool Wink

Start was fine and I was keeping tabs on Napo before his dodgy downshift (i did the same thing later at the same point!!). Thought I could pull a slightly bigger gap on TrueTom but he maintained a steady pace and I made a mistake and he slipped past. The strongest point for me was the 911's straight line speed and the move I pulled off was down to confidence on the brakes into T3, but to be fair it wasn't a move you would attempt on a public server, just a trusted foe Wink

With 15 mins to go I made another mistake (amongst many minor ones) and for all my efforts (as TT saw  Wink) I couldn't catch him as he must have pitted to drive the Scuderia version!  Tongue and it finished with a deserved win for Truetom  laugh

ps. MJ will be back in the enduro i'm sure  scooter

Thats fighting talk mister

Im still bemused why the car felt so skittish last night, i ran a post mortem later by jumping into the srouk server again and was doing 2:07 'Race' laptimes within 3 laps !  Huh
It applied to both qual and race sessions, i had to change my qual setup mid session as the 2:06 times i was doing earlier converted to 2:09 & 10 times in qually blink

I am not a happy bunny losing out to two fezzas in the form of Legz and shark during the race either !  Tongue Good job purds held up the Porsche flag  Cool
I dont know what wing Legz was running but his f430 left me for dead down the straights and i was only 4 rear wing  Shocked

Hopefully i can make sundays race (though 60/40 at moment) and i will seek my revenge muhahaha..... gun_bandana

Was running with wing at 3 MJ. Though in those early laps I was getting a very good exit on the last turn & was probably getting a better slipstream from Evert then you were from me.
What I do know is that even with just 3 wing, Evert's M3 was faster when I pulled out of his slip Huh

Sorry for the accidental block JPS whilst trying to avoid the smoke trail being left by NSFast. Thats the first time I have seen smoke like that with my new computer system and it's so much nicer than on my old 'low detail' one (and much harder to see through).  Grin

No worries Prof, smoke did look good though, if a little difficult to drive behind...certainly made it interesting Smiley

Sorry about the smoke guys. I didn't know it was that bad. I'll pull into the pits next time.

Not sure why it overheated during the race, I didn't have a problem with the engine in practice or qualifying.

The race was the usual good qualify poor race for me. Had fun chasing JPS, Prof and Picnic though.
