Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 60s

The start was a mess. A tight first corner is never an excuse that incidents might happen.

Dynosaur taps Geoffers who gets send into the side of SBG. This spins SBG arounds and causes havock. This incident was caused by the tap that Dynosaur gave to Geoffers.

Mike Cook takes out both Baracus and PRibeiro, which is what caused the mess at the start. It was too little care approaching T1.
Incidents at the start has to stop so penalties for all incidents.

  • dynosaurpenalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost
  • Mike Cookpenalty — Rear end shunt — 2 places lost
  • Mike Cookpenalty — Rear end shunt — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 925s

Legzy is approaching Assassino quickly and tries to overtake on the left, sees there is no room, goes to the right quickly and touches the grass, sending him around into the side of Assa. Assa manages to keep the car going and can continue.
Just a racing incident.

  • Legzy — Racing incident
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1703s

Baracus misses his braking point, collecting Legzy up the rear. Legzy gets sent up the hill and loses 2 places.

  • baracus250gt ([GS]Baracus)penalty — Rear end shunt — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 3494s

Geoffers collects Legzy and sends him off the track. Geoffers waits for Legzy to get going again. Legzy didn't loses any places with this incident, but the opportunity to catch the cars infront.
Penalty gets lowered to 1 place due to the waiting.

  • Geofferspenalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost (plus 1 for penalty points)
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Ouch, not sounding good Legz!

Really didn't expect anything out of this but was up for a nice drive in the country after a  hard day in the office so thought I'd make up the numbers. Had never managed a timed lap prior to practice but managed to complete one and get myself a few places up from plumb last.

It's not funny but lap 1 had me chuckling away to myself as I saw Mike fire backwards along the grass helping me make up 7 places I think it was within the first two corners. Unfortunately that was flattering for my ability around here and it soon came undone when I annoyingly lost it on one of the corners I did actually recognise LOL.

At times when I could hook up a few sequences of corners around here I was able to understand the appeal and actually found myself really enjoying it (I love the subtle left that drops away from you!). On the whole it was nice to experience something different but I'll definitely be looking forward to the usual door handle to door handle racing resuming next week I have to be honest.

Was just on my own with WT keeping me company for the majority aside from a spin and hideous rejoin so not a lot more to report.

Amazing result from our man Dyno with Spadowski and Tibs putting in quality drives too, really good stuff chaps. Oh yeah, apologies about chatting at the end, checked Bill's cam (listed as last place) and he was parked, unfortunately I didn't see he wasn't parked past the finish line. Hope it didn't cause anyone any grief!

Reasonable race for me...
Good start, stayed left but a red Healey came ploughing in and then 2 drivers ahead had spun, drove round everybody as best I could avoiding people getting out of the gravel on the left, think I bumped your front end up sbg trying to avoid those on the left!
Not seen the replay!
Left me 12th!
Had been flying on Wednesday with no mistakes but a few unforced ones left me in 7th overall.
Ok with that!  Undecided

An apology I think to Assassino? I was rejoing and may have clipped you at one point in the race.
Sorry about that. Hope you got away with no damage?

Thanks all. Good fun and good race.

M.

A race of too many incidents to be totally happy with, though I am calmer now  Wink

On a track I love, that throws a new challenge at you with every corner, dip & rise... Two words spring to mind about last night: "Missed opportunity", as I should have qualified higher & finished higher too.

Had some great moments though & my highlight was probably when Blunder, Lazlow & me were in close quarters & then drafting each other in our pucker Oldie Alpines  Cool Grin & we eventually finished a strong 6th, 7th & 8th to remain 3rd in the team championship.

Great to see yet another full GTL grid.
Well done all who finished & bad luck to those who didn't. See you all next week on some new fashionable game called 'PnG' Huh Wink that apparently MJ's not a big fan of whistling. Nah, I've had a go at next weeks event & anyone that's not clicked with P&G yet, it's worth a go at next weeks event.

Great track, enough of a challenge even if all alone in the dark forest..

Bill was lapped. I was last of the lead lap and finished more than 8 minutes after the winner. Probably was just leaving stadium section when leader was crossing the finish line  Undecided

Thanks for the chat restraint. Must be hard to wait almost 10 minutes to celebrate a victory/great run on this beautiful track  Smiley

Something I forgot to mention that I loved about this race, was the race duration (64 to 72 mins depending on where you finished). Cool

As far as I know, nobody pitted for tyres or fuel? I remain of the opinion that Endurance races of differing lengths would get people thinking about the race ahead & decide on a race strategy to try to follow. It would be treated like &an endurance, rather then like two 40 min sprints (who knows, it might help people's mind set to avoid Lap T1 incidents). Differant car/circuit combo's would require differant race lengths to take them to that point of "should I change tyres or not?". Often with 80 min races there will be a car like the 906/Elan/Alpine where a splash & dash is the obvious choice, 85 or 90mins would surely make that less obvious?

I'm confused.  Past the finishing line and got the escape or return to pits signal.  I saw the winner parked up on the right and thought what a good idea to pull over out of the way instead of the usual missile release with escape.

I sat there patiently waiting for everbody to finish when I had an almighty clout up the rear.

Where did I go wrong - answers on a post card ................?

It's the poor geo-spatial aspect of the circuit that bugs me. It's mostly flat or downhill without enough corresponding uphill.
Discovered that if you watch the replay in reverse from a viewpoint from cars front looking rearward there is a large amount of "uphill". But you dont seem to get the effect translate to the cars performance?

I don't know if it was because I was starting to get to know the track but I noticed I was really starting to get some good grip on lap 4 and 5. Perhaps a couple more laps and and it'd all disappear so a pit stop would be needed -- not sure I want to do an 10 lap test here just yet Smiley
