IMPORTANT

This race will be used to test a system that will easily allow us to overcome the performance differences in car groupings and hopefully encourage closer racing throughout the field. Bear with me Smiley

The cars chosen can be divided into three chassis groups-

A Fastest

Shelby Daytona and Cobra 289 Coupe barring Willment Racing Team Version (No.084).

B Middle

Any Shelby GT350, Ferrari 275 GTC, any Jaguar Lightweight, Corvette L72 Coupe and Cobra 289 Roadster.

C Slowest

Ferrari 250C, Jaguar E Type Coupe and Roadster, Shelby GT350 SCCA, Chevrolet C2 Z06 and Healey MkII (really slowest, but nice I think)

Our "regulars" can be, very roughly divided into three groups. Group 1 can only choose from slowest chassis group C

GROUP 1

Dan Minton, Madd, Paul 968, Ginsters, Ade and Jos Verstappen.

GROUP 2   can choose between chassis B and C

Matt Rowe, Truetom, MJ, Tinman, PR, SamB, FMG, Simon Gymer, Oily, [Poodle]Keith, Lazlow, Ossie, Geoffers, Ross and Purdie.

The remainder, far too many to list, have a free choice. If any of that group don't fancy battling against alien types up front or like the fastest choice they can of course choose a slower car.

As this is a first test of this idea, I must admit I haven't afforded a lot of time in dividing our regulars up and apologise to anyone I've missed. Please do not be offended by the groupings and feel free to tell me what an adjut I've been giving Legzy a free choice Wink They will be tinkered with as people put in as much time with this mod as others have done, me for example. This is a test and its more to find out if its a workable idea than to go into massive details. Hope its enjoyable and thx for staying with me Smiley

Would be useful if some of the faster members of Group 1 could provide a bench mark for others to aim at. If you are meeting that pace and are listed outside that group or a newcomer, pm me and I'll move you up (and me down one hopefully Wink). Close racing is what we are all after I think.

You have been busy. It's certainly got a chance of promoting close racing (which is what I'm after) so I'm up for giving it a try SBG. Smiley

p.s. BTW... I think you've got Blunder's grouping spot on.  angel

where the heck is westwood park  Huh Im slightly embarassed to say ive never heard of it  Embarrassed

Good idea on the groupings Ginsters  Smiley

Will be interesting trying out the different cars. I thought we were going to stick with familiar tracks though with P&G for early races so that most could concentrate on learning the cars rather than both?  Undecided ...or do you all know this track from a GTL round?

Not a critisism but could the groupings just be based on current league standings i.e. 1-10, 11-20, the rest?
This would give added value to league points.

Shame on you indeed, its even been in MacGyver  Grin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westwood_Motorsport_Park

Still never heard of it !..."Westwood Motorsport Park was a 1.8 miles (2.90 km) 8-turn road racing circuit located in Coquitlam, British Columbia on the southern slopes of Eagle Mountain "  ....cant think why? whistling

I can safely say ive never driven a lap on it, virtually or otherwise  Tongue

edit: just watched Legzys link, looks a nice track, those american beasts should fly around here, and with plenty of power-drift fun in those long sweepers   Smiley
Im gonna go for one of those Group B American beasts, been itching to give them a good try out.  Cool

Paul, TT and Jos etc don't do GTL, weirdos Wink, so don't have any. Results have been based on P & G results/times and thats a fairer way to do it at the mo.

This seems like a very good idea. When we have a few more results from it we could then make it (semi)automatic ie if you've finished in the top 5 in ANY of the last 3 races you are automatically in the top group. If you are in that group without a top 5 finish in the last 3 races then you drop to the group below. That type of formula should give close(r) racing all the time. Let's face it, you probably wont stop Madd or Dan winning if you make them drive a tractor.

Lol, I tried GTL when it came out and it just couldn't float my boat (what weird expressions you English have Roll Eyes ). Sold it and bought it again Roll Eyes 'cause MJ was freaking out (watch out for reaction Tongue ) and I wanted to be a proper Legends Racing Team member. Result was the same, didn't really drag me and I kept it only 'cause I waited for this mod. So far it was worthed. Cool
Looking forward to this. Not sure which car to take yet. It's nice as this takes much less time to set a car as I feel the driver is much more a decisive factor than in GTR2.  Smiley  Not sure I really like it, though, all my mistakes stand out much, much more.  Cheesy
