P.S The division rules state ''No-fault Shift-Rs will not attract a Stop & Go penalty'' is over-revving a non fault shift-r?
Unless it was a controller failure I suspect over revving is classed as driver error so would probably attract an SnG
Sorry about the contact Micheal, I guessed you hadn't seem me when you started turning in so took to the grass - not far enough on I guess
That was more of a roller coaster than a race for me!
Amazed I managed 3rd!
Started auspiciously, as I hadn't had as much time to build a setup as usual I earmarked the first 15mins of Practice for finalising my race setup - somehow this gave me second, only about .4 off Steve's time!
Removed loads of fuel and set out again but couldn't adjust fast enough to the now empty car's handling. End of Practice saw me within 0.07 of Steve - good work there mate
The start of the race wasn't quite as planned, got a slight jump on Steve which was probably my undoing - as it put me right in his path when he lost it and span into me - Doh!
Asbjurn, Steve and myself then sat around on the edges of the start straight waiting for the field to go by before continuing on our merry ways.
As I'll put in my report, I'd rather Steve wasn't penalised for his spin if poss - even if it did prevent a runaway win for the Waza'a
Rejoined in 11th just infront of Asb and launched off after the pack in full red mist mode, made up 3 places by the start of lap 2 so was flying. Got Dave/Jack/Amagi on the exit of T2 aswell as a big run up the inside of Micheal. As I mentioned above he can't have seen me (I don't appear in his mirrors after the exit of T2 so he may have missed me pulling out) and turned into T3 as usual - I spotted this intime to dive to the grass but touched him (lag? No contact in replay) which span him off with little effect on me - Sorry Mike. I'll submit that too and let Phil decide if I need a slap
Caught Burt and Burnie on lap 3 - Passed Bernie between Esses and Coram when he went wide, and then got past burt under braking for Esses on lap 4, I then set after James Rye for 3rd.
Made an attempt up his inside into the hairpin but lost the backend staying tight to avoid contact - this dropped me back enough for Burt to reclaim his position from me.
Burt then ran wide on T1 (Riches)the next lap so I went round him - hope I didn't get too close Burt
From here it was a slog to catch back up with James again, I got a run on him up the Start/Finish straight at the beginning of lap 9 and out braked him into Riches finally laying claim to 3rd.
Now to concentrate on chasing the leaders hard.
I was deffinatly 'in the Zone' now and Sam's spin on Lap 10 approaching the Hairpin only helped this by gifting me 2nd - Cheers Sam
Sadly Phil lost it in Coram that same lap and Collected me when he bounced back onto the track, Sam Squeeked by us both to lay claim to first
Thanks to having lots of space behind I was able to perform a Shift R and set off again in a cloud of smoke (Should I have needed an S&G for this Phil? My reading on it was no so didn't perform one
).
The next lap it was my turn to run foul of Esses, which let Asb through to claim 2nd from me - On rejoining the track I realised my steering was borked so did another Shift R which resulted in my dropping back to 5th. I then tryed to pit for an S&G the next 2 laps in the row before finally making it in on my 3rd attempt (lost 5th in the process too
)
Rejoined on lap 14 now in 6th.
Allowed the red mist to settle again as was determined to go for gold still. By lap 21 I had caught Jack and was fighting for 3rd, had a wobble into T1 the next lap and hit the wall.
Half span and rejoined just infront of Phil - who took a pop at me on the run towards the hairpin.
I held him off and was left enough space to return to chasing after Jack again unmolested, although I didn't think I had a chance of catching him with only 2 to go. Unluckily for Jack, but lucky for both Phil and I, Jack suffered a wobble into T1 just as I had allowing us both to catch him and then pass him after the Hairpin.
Bad luck Jack
Congrats to Sam for yet another win, and to K Clark for a well fought 2nd place
Nice fight to the finish Phil
and well done to all the finishers
Also, a big sorry to Bookie for my massive tankslapper after he let me through out of T2 - Scared the bejesus out of me so hope it didn't worry you too much
